I think its imperative you select a good, large, reputable Ford dealer like Galpin Ford, here in Van Nuys, CA. If you have any issues, then you have the confidence that they are large enough and CARE enough about the cars they sell to give you top customer service. While I am not inferring smaller dealers are bad, they may not have the volume or expertise to properly handle a complex car like the CMax when it comes to trouble shooting the hard issues like battery. The 13b07 update showed up a ton of Ford dealers that were not ready. So rank the dealer/service over $$$. Jus my 2c and good luck with it. For the record, my CMax is @28,000 and not single battery issue except when it was banged up and the body shop did not turn off the light in the final drive testing. No big deal, its been fine since.

Welcome to the forum :) Theres a few members down in SD, Roninsd is the most prolific. Yeah, the CMax is a real gold nugget for sure, glad you found it. It can be a beast, or it can be a graceful ice dancer when you literally skate on EV from light to light to max the MPGs..its all up to your right foot. I live up north in the San Fernando valley and I easily do daily total of 60MPG pure city, or 55 MPG with freeway/city (50% mix) for the work day drive. Not bad at all. The drive quality is the best, super precise and wait till you fold down the seats and max the space inside. ...but for now, jus enjoy the CMax and forgetabout MPGs. Read up on the forum, lots and lots and lots of hints and tips (see my sig for example) and keep on posting.

I have been released medically last week. Phew. Now begins the fun stuff with talks with my attorney. On the REAL fun part, I have tested my back & neck with a few rounds of golf. Scores suck but its good to be hitting balls again. My time away from the game allowed me to rethink my golf swing. I decided to retool my golf swing for a more "up and down" swing versus the traditional "around" the body swing which is bad for the back due to the torquing. However, the impact position is the same BUT this new swing actually added more power & distance back to my game, and my irons are long once again and I am compressing the ball nicely. I am almost a 9 iron 150 yards, damn ball drops like 146-148 yards on me since I hit it a mile high but I know I can tweak it lower. My old swing, that was a full on 8 iron. I still feel some stiffness the next day though, something which I never had before the accident. The tingling in my right thumb and fingers is all but gone - that was a major worry for my treating doc. Any tingling at the ends of the extremeties is very, very bad news. I got lucky.

Ford admits touchscreen defeat
Jus-A-CMax replied to valkraider's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I luv the touch screen aspect of this, buttons are passe. Look at the phones these days, the S4 and even Apple - the do not need a series of buttons except for the key critical inputs like volume, on/off. IMO, the real issue is the lag & response in the MFT, not the worlds fastest in the world and it sometimes feel like Ford/Micro$oft used some left over Intel 486s inside (and I am being kind not referring to the 386s).,,any day now, any day now. Spiffier graphics always goes well and MFT graphics are average but we've been spoiled with the Apple retina screens & those brilliant Samsung screens that we see in our tablets/smart phones...and then you stare at your $30,000 MFT screen. Lots of improvements but I hope Ford doesn't go overboard with the buttons. I really don't want a 80s boom box radio with a gazillions buttons either. Plus, I don't see any complaints about the "lack of buttons" in the Tesla tablet interface...oh, they have a spiffy screen ;) Jus my 2c. -
Another ONE who didn't get the Consumer Report memo. Tsk, tsk, tsk :congrats:
-
I am sure they are. R u sure Tip didn't have a sip or 2 while you were away...that is freaky...but like I posted @TheBar thread...my MFT even gave me Global Warming. Nothing surprises me - but overall, I am still very happy with it but I may not use as much feature as you do.
-
Adair...c'mon now...did you NOT get your Consumer Report Memo?!?!? It is NOT possible!!! You got 38MPG. 38 MPG. Get with the program... :sing_rain: :lol2:

I would contact Rebecca and let Ford MFT team know about it. Could be caching, could be other issues that MFT has a poor handling in the background. Plus...you already have a whole thread on this issue with 5 postings to it and lord knows how many views - so its out in the open. Now, did you say wining...red or white wines? ;) ..and also Rebecca is here to help, so USE her. Speaking of which, I assume my slider request for the player will be delivered at the next release of MFT, right

No hybrid is ever going to give any decent MPG in below zero, not even the mighty Prii...but they do guarantee to give you a warm butt with a flammable seat if it gets SO COLD you have to burn your seat ;)
-
No issues this morning, it was like nothing happened! I wonder if the elevation had anything to do with it as well as it was stormy that night I drove? tdefny - could not agree with you more - CMax is a great car. Also thats a long time, ballsy mate ;)

Thanks Frank! Never heard of "tire socks" used to describe tire chains/cables till now... I would definitely recommend the z-cables, especially the slim ones. IT IS A FACT, there is hardly any room between the tire and the wheel well. I got regular hands and I need to call up the wifey (even in the snowy and blowing night) for her to help me hook the back end latch. Other than that, these work sensational...to a point. I say that because eventually, there is only so much snow a cable tire will work under before its too much and you need the snow plow to come by... I always carry them to Mammoth, even when it's a "spring skiing" weekend - you never know, weather changes on a dime up there on the mountain

Thanks Laurel, I was packing when I saw that Check Engine light...so for this thread - that 1,000 mile buffer is NOT solid, it will come on when it wants to. Now, here's the TWISTER...I usually tank up at the Indian place north of Independence on thw way back. After filling her up, both Check Engine & Check the Fuel Line Inlet were GONE. I'll see if it comes up tomorrow but I need to send Maxine to Galpin anyway for the recall updates anyway. The error codes should be there...this one was a real puzzle. ICE and EV was fine, neither one missed a heart beat...and I still had fun. So far 2 trips to Mammoth has resulted in 2 issues - one was a flat! The shop I took it to at Mammoth could not find diddly-squat in the tire so I drove back 290 miles back to my regular tire shop and they found it. Luckily I didn't pay anything. As it turns out, to find a real puncture in a tire it's best to use a water tank which most -apparently- tire shops do not use. They use a squirt bottle or visual inspection. That was not good enuf. Luckily I made it back with my family OK and we did stop twice to check the tire pressue (good use of the digital reader that one of the guys recommended here). It was a wee loss but we continued. And now this trip - this. Hmmh...I wonder if there is a message in there...
-
I know Galpin will. However my real issue is right now, my check engine is on and I have 250 miles STILL to get home. So much for the 1,000 miles buffer till the check engine. ..mine was like 5 miles. Sssssh
-
crap, I got this message tonight and I am 285 miles from home. My odo is at 25,000 miles. Ssssh.

Best Engine RPM for minimal FE loss.
Jus-A-CMax replied to John Sparks's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
That may be the case with the Insight but the CMax EV motor & battery pack is far more powerful than the Insight, I would suspect. For us Maxers, EV start is recommended as the CMax is a very heavy car and why burn gas to put momentum into it from stationary. Also, from 0 to 10 mph, the EV has more than enough power to keep up with the regular traffic and then kick in the ICE to power on....- 99 replies
