I have an appraiser workmate, she refuses to drive her husbands Honda hybrid because it could not even climb some simple hills. So she drives a TDI by the way...way before the CMax.
-
I was referencing you...you better put out with all your FE EV skills now.... :headspin: :lol2:
-
...oh Subaru has AWD so if you also intend to AWD...CMax ain't it. Also, if it snows on the grapevine, I know the CMax handles really, really well in the snow for a FWD drive car. Snow cables will work as well, easy on but can be a pain in the butt to take off.

Read up on my Mammoth thread - the links in my sig. Grades don't get any bigger than the Sherwin grade north of Bishop, with a car fully loaded to the hilt and a wifey (not saying anything there dear :finger: ) and I got more than a few stats. Read it and digest it. I use to personally drive between LA County to Ventura County (San Fernando -> Simi -> Camarillo / Ventura), Also head down thru the canyon rds like Kannan, Malibu, Topanga to the PCH, climb all over the Malibu canyons there like Las Flores, Tuna Canyon...ssshh...I could go on.... (go search my "Nutz" thread for a sweaty amusing read). Look, it will beat the pants off any Prii or any other hybrids right now ... :rating: So yeah, the CMax can climb but don't expect to see miracle MPGs with mountain climbing, even Einstein could not fight physics :detective:

Welcome to the forum YakMax :victory: Most of posters here in the know don't really care of the CR and their testing and if you read it enough, their testing and conclusions are bordering on either bias or willful ignorance, as much as they tout that they have :airquote: skin in the game with their car purchase. Sure. Anyway, I digress...enhoy the forum and feel free to contribute with postings or pictures.

...I also started my eco-cruise EV runs today as well. Some mixed results...morning is less mpg, and a flat road drive to the golf course after work was better mpg; and going home after the golf course was less mpg. Overall for the day, less MPGs by 1 than the manual method but I suspect some of it is due to the better timing of the lights that I got today. I will do the same run tomorrow and the day after with the same eco-cruise mode. 3 days of run should give me some good averages. Either manually or eco-cruise - there is no doubt, both methods are giving me > 62MPG per day for the 44 miles of roads I drive per day. At 62, thats looking at a high 700s or peep over 800  a tank there. That folks is testament to the awesomeness of the Ford CMax at 18,000 odo miles. :shift:

Hee...don't run into the car in front of you SDM, thats not the idea... 70s to 80s is bad, it means you've not trained yourself to survey the road ahead enough. Watch those pedestrain lights as clues and if I can't see those traffic or pedestrian lights - I back off the speed a wee bit or drop the burn to 3/4 (or back to <1 for a battery recharge)...its really a great exercise to see if your foot can handle this sensitivity. If I see, sometimes, I pour on the speed to cross the road before the yellow finish. Only time I get those 70s is when I misjudge the light and sometimes for good reasons - such as a major :airquote: dodgy intersection. However, don't sweat over the low brake scores, I really don't believe those 70s and 80s will kill your FE in the long run...its always what you use in the gas that counts, not how much recharge you :airquote: potentially got back. A slight downgrade in the road can more than make up for 1 bad poor score or 1 less squirt of the gas will do the same thing, or if you find a KILLER road, you can make bad braking all day long and still smash the 47 MPG rating. Keep trying and I like to see your comments - I think you learnt something from this thread. PS I have not seen your CMax gas burn rate to 35 mph for 1 bar vs 2 bar...I am very interested in that cause its a direct comparison to see how your 2,xxxx odo CMax compares to my 18,xxxx odo. :)

Thats astounding CMaxGo....I am slowly getting convinced. See that EV at 70 is amazing....as much as I weep the loss of the ICE High MPG with the eco-cruise method...looks like I'll have to do this manually...may be. Not? Mind you at 70mph, that battery will go down SUPER QUICK....
-
Agree....barely a squirt in there. Some people would look at that and go jump in the lake in despair.....tsk, tsk.

Planning to buy a c-max this week, would you?
Jus-A-CMax replied to mw27's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Can someone say "no" please...so we have some sort of balance. You would think this is some sort of CMax Hybrid Forum or something...goodness gracious :gaah: -
Very short....100 yards (1 burst) to 200 yards (2 burst). Gun and back off, let the momentum pull you up and repeat.
-
Still no picture chief... You can still do this, its only 500 miles min per tank, thats the whole idea... :) You could do both next tank....beat your 500 mile mark mpg and then smash the 700 mile barrier...now thats a twofer :victory:

Well...everyone here knows how I feel about the CMax and competition... :shift: -
1 kick Power liftgate stories...

Hey, I gotta give you kudos for having the :airquote: balls to admit this on the forum... ;) -
Good luck!

11Sti - it looks like your route is pretty much set. Go to work, Go to lunch, go to dinner, go home. So it may be more meaningful if you placed a pre-update and post-update change next to each other so we can see an apples to apples comparison. Jus a thought...
-
I would say about at least 5 to 10 miles - you call it - as long as you do the same entry to exit over the same stretch of freeway. Use your Trip 2 computer and reset cycle as needed for each run. Thanks for volunteering :)
-
Someone should do a baseline run at 65 and 70 mph with the pre-update in the same temps, report back the stats and then do the same run after the update and see the real world FE improvements. 11Sti - I guess you can confirm we lost the ICE High MPG then....
-
No hurry, we aren't going anywhere....51 is the mark to beat :)
-
That is noteworthy...but you missed some MPG with the increased drag from the lower pressure....oh what could have been!
-
Only if its post 07/19, otherwise you'll need to make a fresh batch of MPGs like the other entries.. :)
-
Did you do the 600+ in 1 tank though? Need a confirmation - cause thats is eligible. You can beat and better you distance later - many have.
-
That may be even more difficult for some... ;) In my opinion, I think Ford should have given the CMax an ECO and POWER buttons for those drivers who sue, they are too :airquote: stupid to understand ONE PEDAL TO RULE THEM ALL (hint, hint...where did that quote come from.. :sos: ) And yes, I don't mince my word.... :drop:

Good stuff....keep contributing and experimenting...
