When I get home, its done but I have some thoughts. Bottom line, the Cmax is one HELLUVA car :yahoo:
-
The 750 barrier has been broken :drop: . I am still going

Thats awesome frbill

Hey Salsa, make this a thread by itself in this Fuel Mileage section and I'll pin it, Subject should be: How to check your gas station is in compliance or not. Or think of something short and meaningful. :)

Thank You Ford for the 3.5.1 and Liftgate!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
My 3.5.1 is going ABSOLUTELY fine! I have not had 1 MFT crash and my navigation has been spot on and I make lots of turns, never lost track. I am extremely pleased :happy feet: One caution though - do not be the 1st to get the 3.5.1 - ask them first as to how many MFT updates they have done and how long it took. If the answer is more than 5 and about 2 hrs, then its a good wager these guys are good to go. -
Tell me about your Road Rage stories?
Jus-A-CMax replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
All the more reason Ford should make Series 2 CMax come up with user-selectable engine noise, imagine a 454 noise blaring out the front speakers. I am sure that would wake that moron up ;) -
Mate wait till you get yours, its PERFECT for the valley driving. I mean it man. I'll burn out my EV motor before the ICE...wait til you see the final result tomorrow (I have to tank up as I got enuf to get to work and then head out to lunch & fuel up at Costco)..lets just say, we might have to rename my CMax hybrid to something else ;)

As soon as a benchmark is set, it gets blown. Don't forget orphoto and snowstorm <-- who has a very young engine! Remember the 800? I am thinking it may be possible now once the 750 is broken...now that would be the Aurora for us  ..any higher and we'll both need gravity belts from floating off in the MPG space. truedat, learning to break 500, 600 and 700 improves your FE driving skills. Save whatever cash you can, its tough out there
-
Holy moly 736 :worship: ...it ain't easy, I fully acknowledge that and congratulations :) And the fact that you pulverized all the records since spring and made bench marks after benchmark, top stuff indeed. I ain't done nuthin yet except a PB, we'll see. :baby:
-
I did it!!!! After lunch. ... 708 miles using 12.12 gallons & 58.4MPGs. BUT I am NOT done
-
Correct, been using it since tank 4.
-
Excellent snowstorm!!!! :wub2: to hear these 600+ mile tank stories

Depends on your battery level. Remember, EV+ kicks in about 0.25 miles from home (it will work this out). I typically have about 1/2 batts left when I reach the EV+ range so I conserve on the speed to go up the hills. However, you can run up to 62MPG, its just EV...all the + does is that it lowers the ICE kick in limit a little bit less. No difference but mind you, I have not run it at 62MPH to my garage, lol.

Hell stobro...those are ideal conditions!!!! You should be doing EPA and MORE

They certainly do - I know, down here, the Galpin are very well train and their IT department is pretty big from what I gather. From a customer experience point of view - that tech would have been fired for this debacle as its completely embarassing and I don't see the dealership extending any help to mtb with a loaner in the interim. I think this dealership is just lacking - sorry mtb to be so hard on your dealership but I hate to see you suffer due to allegance when you deserve better and you so much enjoy your Cmax.

725 stands, last I recall but Matt will let us know. Plus it doesn't matter anyway...he'll get it back. Wtf am I talking about, I ain't even broke 700 yet...back to my lil hole I go :salute: EV+ is suppose to do that - get you home with the last ounce of batts. However, what I learnt is that even if you have a high SOC, starting the next day and then using EV+, it will stil run the motor regardless. You may go for a while but as soon as you hit the pedal to have ICE - then the warm up routine starts. My temps have been 80+ when I leave the car (say work) and come back and it still runs the motor - its the software setting off the warming up routine. Now how long that runs depends on the ambient temp. I tried the "L" trick but I cannot get it to work - it just burns MORE gas to recharge my batts so I stopped it cause it was better to let it run the warm up anyway, save my gas. I am keeping mine as I have 2 hills to climb in my development and EV+ saves me from using the gas. PS I should add - orphoto is up there too and sounds like this will be one of those frog jumping games, one better another and better another. The GREAT NEWS is that all you young CMax owners - this is what you have to look forward to when your CMaxes reach our age! Like fine wine :)

Black tinted windows and a set of ubber cool & new driving shades. I :wub2: my Oakleys. Nothing like looking good in the car :)
-
I woud never go back to that dealer, sounds like its a ma & pa shop that they are running - one IT goes on vacation and they are all stuck along with the customers and they can't run a CAT5. Seriously? Wow, professional indeed. Sorry for you MTB but this is a sad sad tale with this dealership - friends or not, their IT and service department is very, very poor.

This does not make sense to me...I have had many, many full battery in my 16,000 miles and at full charge, you're all correct, the regen does not happen anymore and the brakes also feel different (maybe its psychological) but to me it feels different. If you hit the accelerator, you can still use EV but the ICE does not come on automatically if you do not want it to - depends on your power needs that you dictate with your right foot. If you need more power, the ICE wil come on but with a lot EV assist. When this happens, this is a different feel to the car at such a high SOC. Its reminiscence to like driving in a manual car on a gear too high, a very low rumble and its takes a while to get use to it (yes, yes before someone posts that CMax has CVT and no gears). I mentioned this to the Ford Enginneers at Irvine and they smiled...thats just the way it is and its fine. At this high level, the batts will drain quicker as more juice comes from the batts so optimally you want to stay all blue EV. For those living in Los Angeles, if you want to try this - go drive to the Box Canyon from the 118 and drop down to Valley Circle. I can do the stretch from that 118 to 101 and get to the 101 with a full battery - its a LOT of fun that canyon road. You'll also be treated to views of the San Fernando and the Simi Valley. Anyway, this is completely OT so apologies to the OP.... ;) A nice view always comes with a higher elevation unless you're dumb enuf to by done that does't have a view, you've just wasted your money, just an appraisers POV...

Matt - we'll see. Hoping this time tomorrow night to FINALLY crack the 700 barrier as right now I am at 669 with 11.5 gallons used. I managed to add 5 more MPGs on the way to work and coming back it looks like a steady 55MPG, avg 66MPG for about 43 mile round trip ain't too bad - would have been a lot better if not for every cross street some moron has to come out (yeah...its frustrating but I should not be cause I am in one of the BEST MPG cars other than pure EV). :)
-
No change here, if anything my MPG has got more ridiculously good due to surface street driving.
-
Out of curiosity, I have not heard of this before but I presume you are talking about the Energi? I always thought that the excess would be just ignored (wasted/lost) like it does on the regular Cmax especially down long grades...no?
-
Speaking of which, I broke the 600 mile barrier with a little under 1/4 tank left... I think come Wednesday, I should break the 700 barrier and we'll see where we go from there. This was on the way to the Golf Course today...I drove the driver great but I played like crap the rest of the game, oh well: And the whole day was 59.5 for 30 miles return :hi5:
-
Thats the way - you are on the right track to max your MPGs...assuming you are comfortable with the extra time. I am, I enjoy listening to Larry Elder and Doug McIntyre in the evenings & mornings respectively and I know I am making my tank last as much as possible. Plus it way safer imo to drive the surface street than the freeways especially in the morning, I have seen too many 3 lane left hand cross overs in my lifetime on the 210/118/405 intersection - pretty scary. Oh you'll be posting more higher MPGs as you drive the CMax, trust me on that one ;)
-
I would have done that the day after - by you waiting & stalling is causing you more frustration. It is completely unacceptable and its incompetence on the technician end, and the dealership should take ownership for this f*ckup. Now that you disclosed they are a "close" dealership, that makes matters worse as the expectation, from my viewpoint, should have been "hey we screwed up and since you're a great and long time customer with us - we are going to fix it and while we're learning to see how to fix this, heres a NICE car to drive in the interim". Galpin (Jaguar & Ford) would have done that and I am not as close to Galpin as you are to your dealership.
