Heatshield has more coverage around the mirror than this one and its no big dea, just tuck it underneath and the material is pretty flexible.

For a while there, I thought Adair got a special car or phone there, we knows she has the Droid 4 :finger: Oh so confusing....time to head back to my lil hole, grab my clubs, drive to the golf course, get 68MPG there and play golf ;)
-
Hee....reliability....you'll find out before orphoto and then he'll find out and then its me...thats how it will pan out ;) The other thing I would add to that is "better range". From what I observed, those V are struggling to make 500 :baby: and thankgoodness we got 13.5 gallon tanks (I told Ford at Irvine, they should increase that to 15 gallons).

I have to agree, having driven my CMax with over 50% freeways/highways and maxing the tank at 679 miles to suddenly driving only surface streets with speeds from 35mph to 45 mph and geting a huge, huge bump in the MPGs. For example, my morning commute: Astounding, yes? And I know...to pre-empy those who always, always say to those high MPG posts "well, you should always include a return trip"....so ok: The return is a slightly different route but its from Point B back to A. For those who know Los Angeles, this is basically from the foothills of San Fernando to Woodland Hills and back. I noticed that the car is still getting better and better (little increments) in the MPGs. Also, one thing....a long killer EV leg will always compensate for any burns up the hills but you gotta get a long EV burn and thats tricky unless you pick the right route. P&G mostly but I keep with the traffic (not that its that fast anyway) and I pick the route - afterall I drive a hybrid, so its silly not to maximize. Yes, there are rolling hills in certain parts of the valley but you gotta know which one to take and avoid and yeah, maximize the use of the terrain. As I have only been driving this terrain now for less than 2 weeks, I will optimize the tweak it for the effects of traffic and always looking for more optimal terrain to utilize the EV as much as possible. God, I :wub2: this car  :)

Crap, I did that one early morning, turned too quick. No rim damage but after reading the OP, I feel like I got away with murder. Sorry to hear your loss OP, better luck next time.

For as long as I can remember being a member here, we have all been apopletic with anger over the 3.1.3 MFT and especially with the navigation issues ala "hey I am driving over houses...rivers....lake". As well, some of us were positive it was 1 Ninjitsu kick while others were 2 Ninjitsu kicks to open the liftgate. A lot of it was directed at Ford for the poor MFT software and Microsoft got some heat as well. Yep, I am guilty. At one point, some of us were thinking that Ford will NEVER going to release the 3.5.1 update at all....and literally I thought I personally thought it was the darkest hour...wallah....here comes the updates! Ford has stepped up big time with the release of 3.5.1 and also the sleeping liftgate issue. Yes, the update has been a PAIN for some CMax owners but Ford and the dealership technicians/service advisors are doing their best. Some were smooth and some rough as rocks but be patient and remember, its covered by the warranty whatever happens. In time, I think mostly everyone will be happy with the update after so many months of frustration and mini-MFT wars. So :happy feet: THANK YOU :happy feet: Ford Motor Company for coming through with the 3.5.1 update for us early adopters and settling the 1 vs 2 Ninjitsu kicks to open the liftgate  :hi5: I hope this is not the last update as this car is certainly worthy of more MFT improvement to complement such a FANTASTICALLY DESIGNED and utilitarian vehicle  Cheers, Jus-A-CMax PS We know you lurk so thats why I wanted to thank you publically ;)

You'll get use to all the Avg gauges SDM, no worries on that. You're not the first to be confused, nor the last - may be its time for one of the posters to do an FAQ on this and I or Adair will pin it up.

telling me....0.6 short of the 680 goal, but I shattered my 644 miles...at this rate, i won't tank up until 2 weeks from now, still have about 3/5 tank and 353 miles booked :) I too am not seeing any wonderous mileage from 3.5.1 either and I don't even use that power screen anyway, too distracting. Its fun for a while but its like ice cream, you can only have so much chocolate ones and then its enuf.

That is very poor customer service, would not happen at Galpin as they would have given a loaner and not a half baked MFT update returned to you. From what I gather, Galpin did have this same issue with the first install due to download errors on the Ford end (akin to what was reported here) but they have been smooth ever since, mine took like 3 to 5 hrs and I had a check engine thrown in (thanks SD card) for good measure...but I was given a Mazda 3 loaner which saved my Saturday. I am so happy to have Galpin as my dealer and see servicer for our Jaguar & C-MAX :)

Go KAL Cmax! Go!

It does...but I didn't say anything about the cool 75F here and the sunshine - although we still have some smoke from the fires in Santa Clarita..... ;)

Me like that, very Homer Simpson

Oi, I ain't no king...mod, maybe...but then again, I can't even ban myself even after a bad beer night  My MPG is now down to 54.4MPG, been struggling to get it up in the high 50s since the 3.5.1 debacle and even with a 68.8 and 50.5 trip back today, its hardly gone up. Tank is sitting at 313 miles at the moment with 5.75 gallons used. Its gonna be a long tank but you know what - I don't mind at all, better than filling up each week and this tank might make me go 3 weeks before the end :yahoo:
-
You are correct ice high mpg works on flats and some mild grades only. Any steeper grades/hills automatically draws too much power and kicks in 100% of ICE.

I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Ok guys, lets keep things on track in this thread to the ICE High MPG and not deviate to the Ford/EPA issue - we have plenty of those threads to carry on the discussion there. Thanks everyone :) -
I don't even bother to look when I fill up but I'll make a note next time I fill up, which should be in 2 weeks from now (only 1/4 tank and 270 miles). As I said, I usually rely on my Trip 1 which is dedicated to the tank and reset at fill up. The M to E is usless when its red.
-
yep, just a typo..fixored...so you turned into an Adair now
-
No, SD card is right - per Galpin documentation and the TSB number is correct. Technician said the code pointed to it as well. Mods aren't immune to anything - don't know if you notice but Adair's Jelly Bean is still in the shop. But I have to say - every issue I have had I take to my guys at Galpin - Bill Parks and his manager Tom Swire and they always take care of it. I was especially impressed with the GPS issue so I cannot say enuf about these guys so any lurkers here from San Fernando, you can't go wrong with Galpin.

Other cars that remind me of the C-Max in shape
Jus-A-CMax replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
truedat, the only way I can tell one from either from the rear is the bottom of the bumper bar (at a quick glance). -
My Ford Touch update for C-Max finally available!
Jus-A-CMax replied to csavage7's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Don't sweat it - lets put all those bad updates into context - its like early adopters, they had issues with the Ford servers & versioning but now its pretty much down pat. No issues with mine and Galpin also resolved my Check Engine (due to SD card, believe or not...but its official). Like I posted earlier, I am not seeing a significant change - yeah, new cool screen and streamlined phone hook up but no major performance navigation improvement as far as I can tell just driving around for a couple of hours on streets and freeways here in Los Angeles. No rubber banding either at this time. -
Yeah its hard to see but no doubt, the concrete does delineate a driveway - next time check carefully. I once got done for parking in a lane that was suppose to be clear for the gutter cleaning but that was my fault for not being dilligent in an innoculous looking street.

They ALWAYS kill my mileage. But I have never noticed how many miles they drove it. I will next time.Same thing happened to me today - but - I rather the spend the gas, full test it out than for me to return the car later due to something screwing up. I think I lost like 6 MPGs from when I gave it to them and when I got it back. Oh - I had a Check Engine so it was more than just the 3.5.1.
