  1. We'll have to see Matt...right now, I lost a lot of MPG due to the 3.5.1 and Check Engine update that happened today. I think just getting past 700 is the 1st goal, anything else is a bonus but again, you are right - you have to be so on with the MPGs to really get it past 700 mile threshold, not much to "fat to burn", so to speak.
  2. Thanks for the well wishes Adair & ScubaDadMiami....so here's the deal with the Check Engine. It's a TSB 13-02-05 caused by the SD Card. Part# DM5Z19H449AA. Who would have thought a little tiny SD card can bring up the dreaded Check Engine. Now the 3.5.1 is done - Galpin Ford did a great job, seemless. As for my opinion - some nice spanky new screens and the temperature is now displayed - but we all knew that. However, I don't see any significant improvement and based on observing the navigation I thought the 3.1.3 tracked the car better and 3.5.1 brought no new speed in the fresh. It didn't lose track and drove on the houses like it once did with my old GPS module but right now, I don't see any real significant improvement. My 2c. No comment on stability since this will need time. Galpin chewed up a bit of gas driving my Maxine, I gave them it to them at 59.4MPG and got it back at 53MPG. Wow, some lead foot technician  By the way, the Mazda 3 was quite a nice car, I thought it was better than a focus in terms of sound insulation and driveability.
  3. Pinned and I'll consolidate it as part of the Welcome thread later today. Thanks to ceemax71 for bring it to our attention, good stuff :)
  4. I have had 15,600 miles of trouble free engine and today as I was cruising along in EV, the Check Engine popped up. Great. Not. Luckily I was on my way to Galpin Ford anyway to have my 3.5.1 done so they'll take care of it. This car has been totally awesome, only issues was with the MFT and liftgate which every Tom, Dick and Harry early CMax adopter had and Maxine has been giving UNREAL mileage so I am rather bummed at this time  Bill Parks at Galpin gave me a Mazda 3 to drive for the time being. Not a bad lil car, more Spitfire like than the biplane Focus I had last time. Very quiet too. Whatever it is, I am positive Galpin willfind it and resolve it...heres to hoping it doesn't take too long but alas, I think they will ruin my MPGs for the tank though, I was on the MPG gravy train (see the 50+ thread).......ssssh. :waiting: Saw another CMax owner bring her Ruby Red in, not sure what the issue was but she looked at me and I looked at her. Both of us bummed to be there.
  5. No worries, thanks for the clarification. I think you are onto something as I recall seeing it go up and down (level) especially down the red zone where I have none and then I have 3 pixels and then none. I don't we have ever considered whether these gauges were digital or not. But...when the car is tilted up or down, the fuel level also differs as well...might be best to move this discussion to a new thread though...and drop a link here as a start reference point. :)
  6. U guys are scaring me now as I am getting it done this morning, wish me luck... :dogwalk:
  7. Hee....mtb should go back there and park it again...but before doing it, set up a video camera to catch her writing on the screen. Oh she'll do it again and again...and mtb has the equipment. Lets see vandalism or parking infront of driveway... Sorry, just being mischevious. Well, not sorry really... ;)
  8. Till Wifey 1.0 finds out and starts BSODing Girlfriend 2.0...
  9. I posted a reply to one of your post a few days ago suggesting you take your CMax to your Ford Service Advisor and complain about the recent poor mileage. They have the tools to diagnose and see whether you may have an issue with the engine or any other component that could be effecting mileage - thats an avenue worth exploring, no?
  10. Dude...did you send it in to have Ford take a look at it? Report back to us about what they find....
  11. Jus for the record, I thought the breakin would plateau at 12,000 miles but I don't know...I think Matt is right there with it still going past 15,000 since I too, am seeing ridiculous MPGs post 15,000 and lets just see where this breakin all goes. I know these high MPGs are skewed somewhat with my terrain change to surface streets. The weather has no real impact for me, SoCal has very consistent and stable weather - sunshine, sunshine and the worse weather here: sunshine. Plus no Santa Anas at this time. So a bad weather here is summer for you guys on the NE and I still totally believe these new CMaxs are just HOT on the MPGs, way hotter than mine was at that odo. :)
  12. Plus...10,700 odd miles difference, 1 oil change and god knows how many hours behind my wheel vs yours. However, Matt will blow us both away ;) Yeah, I hope so...unless my wife drags me out to Camarillo and kills ANOTHER TANK. Again.
  13. You guys are gonna hate me... Its gonna take a LONG time before I will be done with this tank. All surface street, zero highway at this timd...and its my NEW work travel now. Completely changed my terrain due to work.
  14. Hey Gen....good to see you posting! Wow for a while there I thought you were getting natural high MPGs, especially with the auto ICE High MPG. Yeah...thats true, gotta play the game and its not for everyone and not necessarily slow as well and with my changes in the drive terrain, I mostly hit the heavy surface streets like Victory and I am still getting a ridiculous 58MPG average on that street...not much, if at all, any freeways now but I know I am capable of getting MPGs out if I have to...but yeah, its a game for sure :)
  15. Absolutely, gentle slope is my preferred course if I have choices...even if I have to go a little out of ways where I maximize FE and burn least gas. Thats the diff btwn 38 or 47 when u see your Trip data.
  16. See pic below. Keep the white bar within the red box. Those arches are not that steep, just P&G, you should be fine. Mind you, I have not been there but I can't see them putting up steep grades on bridges, usually they're pretty flat or just slight. Without hitting the brakes and no ICE, you have a natural regen so the faster the wheel spin the quicker the batt will charge up. However, when your ICE is on, I don't have any stats here since I have no scangauge but others do ala +3 golfer, to me the regen is the same whether you stick it in eco-cruise at 60mph with low SOC and let the eco run the ICE to recharge, or if you do the same condition and procedure at 68 mph - it appears to charge at the same rate. Others will chime in tomorrow with their stats, I am sure. By the way, do you own experimentation as my roads and conditions is different than you other guys. Plus people have different expectations as well such as getting there asap.
  17. Wise choice but no matter what - you should file a report with the police as soon as you can so its on record. You have the officer who ticketed you, file a report with him since he was there and saw the whole incident and you have the picture. Even better if you took a wide angle picture with her house in the background as well to prove the graffiti was done at her place. Don't leave it for too long and if you decide to let it slide, toss out the police report. 2 wrongs dont make a right. Laurel - people are nasty, I think shes old and cranky that many drivers have obviously parked in front of her place but she is not doing anything to warn drivers since it sounds like this place, the drivway is not clear at all (not like a slab of concrete).
  18. It will come off but its all dependent on whether you want to press this issue or not. If you want to press it, pay a professional detailer to remove it, take the bill to to Small Claims court and file a suit, serve her the paper and let her sweat it out. However, its obvious that other people have parked in front of her driveway before as it sounds like its poorly marked and its obvious shes done this before to other cars. Bottomline, you may be wrong but this does not give her the right or justification to vandalize your vehicle. Infact, graffiti is more serious charge. And she'll do this to other cars...but hey, it could be worse, you could have been towed and thats more money to take your car out of the pound. Now U have to decide what karma you want out of this... :headscratch:
  19. Gentle hills are the best, you still have a chance with some P&G if it levels out. Short hills for me, I just punch it up (short power bursts spaced out so you can utilize the momentum to climb the short hill) especially if your SOC is high and alot of that mojo will come from the batt. When climbing steep & really long grades ala Sherwin Grade between Bishop and Toms Place, keep it at 2 bars power and stay right, you'll be going 50-55mph as its the most economical way up, anymore power you'll go faster but you're just trading a lot of gas for lil time. This is at FULL load by the way so without the load, the climb should be more like 55mph at 2 bars.
  20. Aliens, again Adair? You running some sort of Starport there as a side business... :hysterical:
  21. Heat? Try my workplace...its been 95 to 99....thank goodness for my heatshied...poor Maxine would be baking. MFT works fine too and so is the GPS. Enjoy the Spitfire...better than the biplane that you had last time.
  22. Yep, its an Energi. I hate that they mix the Energi with us mere-mortal CMaxs. No wonder....so Matt's record still stands! Yes!
  23. Not true! Don't go past 13 gallons, push it to 13.05. 13.5 is not realistic, at least not with my car. Also, the threshold is dependent on if you "top off" or not. My last tank I did not and I ran out at 13.04. U have been warned. Yes, it started fine....
  24. Time to move to a much warmer weather Laurel, Caifornia...where the tacos are great and sunshine everyday...yaaah! Oh you might get a natural shake or two with your slurpee...its a 10 year special. Then I can introduce you to Galpin Ford and they'll take care of you. Hang in there, it'll come but its also a game to buzz 'em till they do their JOB!
  25. Congratulations! Its a perfect fit, don't even have to use the shades to hold it up but make sure sure you tucks the edges in. I have been folding mine instead of rolling it, seems more compact. It will take a while to get use to the size of it....thats one big a** window we have!
