Sometimes you need to drive another car....
Jus-A-CMax replied to Adair's topic in General Discussion
armoredsaint - what's your build date? Trying to see if these are all early CMaxs or if they are mixed... Yep, the next wave of fixes for Ford will be the GPS module replacements when people find out the 3.5.1 is NO solution for the GPS tracking issue. Thank goodness I followed ArizonaEnergi by replacing the GPS - best decision :) -
If you read the early posts in the 600 mile club, ptjones predicted the 700: Called it exactly - my hats off to him for sure. I doubted it as all of us had more than 50% freeway driving on our schedules -- no one, at least not me, would have thought that if someone drove this car at just 35mph, and keep it there..all bets were off and boom...700. Now, we are starting to hear rumours of 800+ miles possible at just 30mph (if snowstorm is right). I think for the time being, perhaps a rename to 600+ Mile Club would be at better approach, only Matt is still there at 700. I won't be there for another 3 more weeks at least since my work schedule only has me at 40-50 miles a day. But yeah...if someone wants to drive 800+ miles at 30mph..go for it...but just let the other posters know what terrain/condition you are driving as its not realistic to have a ton of freeway driving at 65+ mph and some then expects 55MPG. Go for it guys, this is a CMax forum - break all the records you want
-
I think what I'll do is this: I'll put back the your last unmodded MPG (think it was 700.4) and also leave your latest MPGs with the mods but denote it with a * (referral back to your posts) above. That way, we only have 1 list and we know which MPGs are modded or not. If anyone else does a mod then we'll separate the list - to be fair to the guys that don't have any mods. Go get the 775 mate.... Its going to take me forever to finish this current tank as the # of miles I am doing now are way down now...may be like 40-50 miles a day but its all surface streets though but sitting high 50s & low 60s Avg.

Did Ford Tweak the Computer? (or is it just the weather)
Jus-A-CMax replied to Riddley's topic in Fuel Mileage
My 2c...they tweaked it. Matt & I have well broken in CMaxs, very FE driving skills so that explains us plus my terrain has changed to valley driving which explains me. But given my odo back then I don't think my mpgs were that high and I had consistent weather here in SoCal. Don't forget Ford had a data download back in Feb at the Irvine pow-wow. I have no proof jus my gut feel & I am happy for the new CMaxs, jus don't forget us "oldies" when u start smashing the ole records, lol. -
TSB 13-3-11. See this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1484-nav-gps-tsb-13-3-11-fix-for-unable-to-locate-vehicle-etc/

Mate, I didn't think anyone drove in the condtions that I thought 700 miles was possible but yeah, you've done it like 3 times :) I think Adair claimed it right...sounds more like an Energi. Hey that last tank had aero mod with the lexan wheel cover (or partial)? I am thinking that it should be noted with a star as it deviates from the standard that we all drive. Jus a thought...at this rate a high 775 is possible by the end of your aero mods with the lower covers and front grill. Also why no grill cover if its going to improve the MPG as well? Let me know how you want to call it.

There you go...another "special CMax" is on the way to a 600 Mile Club. Cya there and get there soon, your beer is getting cold (that Riddley is buyin for everyone  )

As I posted, NO one cane explain why my FordEtis shows no upgrade for my VIN...but Bill Parks at Galpin Ford emailed me back saying my update is here....God I :wub2: Galpin!!!!!!!! Yah!...going in Thursday! :)
-
Matt - according to FB C-Max page, there is a "Libby Messiah" who claims 875 a tank with 73MPG. I dunno...that is one long downhill to drive 875...jus sayin ;)
-
Please note that Adair is helping me to maintain the Post #1 - please give her around of applause for keeping you guys honest :) (otherwise she will sick her 3.1.3 Aliens onto your MFT and you don't want that fellas).
-
lol, "train miles".....you know by right, you should not be able to achieve this at this odo. I guess you have a "special car" too.... ;)
-
:happy feet: Oh I get it....I lay out 10 x 600+ gallons and you lay out 3 x 700+ huh.... :wub2: it mate! Holy crap Matt! Great Gonzo and every friggin expletive under the sun....well done  Now, this is with the aero mod? (or parts thereof) PS Isn't it wonderful to pounce those you-know-where-doubters into the sand with these insane mileages. I wonder what will they say--well probably just ignore these "lil" inconvenient facts and still quote that silly Consumer Report. Or may be you and I have SPECIAL cars....oh wait..may be Ford built 14 other "special CMaxs"...yes sireee :salute:

From what I have seen and experienced, its based on the history. See my Nutz thread where I was climbing grades/hills/canyons and it was fluctuating between 0 and 35 miles left. It was kinda crazy. I think you can also expect about 25 miles once zero is hit. Like I said many times, if you use your Trip1 as your counter for the gas used, keep a careful eye on the gallons used (screw the estimate left) and DEFINITELY, don't go past 13.0 gallons, thats about the limit for mine (especially if you DO NOT top off the gas when refueling).
-
Mine shows nothing, thats BS...oh well, 3.1.3 for now but everything is working...maybe thats the problem....Ford is eyeing these forums and as I post "it working" they just moved me to the back of the line...or scrubbed me from the list...Adair...where are your aliens?!?!?! :runaway:

mtb - take it to your Ford service advisor and let them know you are getting poor mileage. They have the tools to see if your engine is running optimally or not. You are running a tier 1 gas correct, not the Arco crap? Also, mind you, SF can be a hilly area and FL is flat as a tack and if you're like me, hills/grades will chew up more gas especially if you have traffic sticking to your rear like a toilet paper (as you once described).
-
No worries, I just didn't see these updates but I did a wee bit more, cropped the photo and added some sharpening to bring out some detail. Its in the email. Good stuff Riddley
-
Scuba - you have PM. Email me the pic and I'll haxit for u ;)
-
Crap, sorry to hear it, that is one bad luck car Wing  Did your Service Advisor even test the car with the new GPS module before handing it back to you?!?! Galpin had mine for like 3 days and at least 1 full day driving it all over the place to test my GPS.

Could you ever go back to a gas engine only car?
Jus-A-CMax replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
Yep, my gut says this is gonna turn into a AMD vs Intel war...who wins...WE - the consumer - WINS  -
This is my 10th 600+ Mile Tank :happy feet: and my personal best at 679.4 (oh so close to the 680 and 700). Oh what could have been.....I think what happened was that yesterday I took the wifey to go to the Camarillo outlet for some Memorial Day shopping and then scooted to Woodranch for some AWESOME ribs, chicken and tri-tip (yes, greedy guts had ALL 3) and this meant I had to climb the dreaded Conejo Grade which burnt a ton of fuel. Didn't help that wifey wanted the AC on either...oh well. Not too bad considering. I should add that this tank has at least 40-50% freeway with 118, 101 and 23 all in the mix during the week. Heres the goya with this car. Anything with a lot of freeway, this car will low 600s. However - as Matt has said and that I have also experienced today - while driving the Sunland, North Hollywood, Woodland Hills and then Glendale just using the surface streets, the CMax will more than reward you for your time and patience. This car does shine in the 35-45 MPH streets, especially if you pulse it enough and feather the EV. The MPGs I was getting was RIDICULOUS....see my snapshots from todays valley runs: This is Los Angeles so our temps were pretty stable at around a very plesant 72F. No wind. I think I may feel a 700+ coming to soon to a forum near you ;) :)
-
So do I when I am not using the "heavy" duty sutff. This spray is great for getting out the lil marks like dirt and all.
-
Enjoy, you deserved it. Thanks to Hatchman for letting us know

Going back to the topic....so I had a convo with the wifey@dinner, told her that we finally had a female driver who broke 600 miles in a CMax. She immediately replied we were all crazy. To which I replied, I guess some people will never get it. "What do you mean". I never replied, that ended that convo. I didn't feel like explaining, and as long as she sits there and read the book while I do my driving, thats fine with me. I am about to hit my 10th 600+ mile tank in Maxine this week so as far as I am concerned, there is no way I will go back to driving a gas only car... :)

I hate doing it but it had to be done...
Jus-A-CMax replied to Michigan Max's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
I did mine the day I got it - clay, paint seal and wax. Wallah. Its due for another one at the end of this summer. -
Had a great conversation with a Prius V owner the other day.
Jus-A-CMax replied to Recumpence's topic in General Discussion
This is amusing when this thread is contrasted with a very similar one on the Prius forum, but that one has the CMax owner whining about "34ish" mpg vs the Prius 50-60MPG and then prius driver amusingly letting him know that Ford is being sued about "mileage estimates being off". Nice huh? Welcome to the Net....as the State Farm ad goes "they can't put anything that is not true on the Internet". "Who said that?". "The Internet". ;)
