Jus A CMax sighting...
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Saw this today as I was driving home...and it very much brought up a thought in me...how far have we now come from Henry Ford's Model T to here I am sitting behind this classic in Ford's newest hybrid technology car. All of you know I luv to compare gas car as biplanes and the CMax as the stealth fighter, but I totally respect this "biplane" as I admired her from behind and then passing her. How far have we come... Enjoy. As crappy as this picture turned out, I like to call this shot "Looking back into the Past" -
No experimenting, been on the premium stuff since my 3rd tank. I found the regular lack lustre in the performance especially in the punch & go...no stats, just by feel. Have not looked back since. I am just waiting for the nay-sayers to come onboard that theres no diff but i'm not changing my fuel type. My stats is good enuf for me :)

On a quest for 47 mpg average. Who wants to join me?
Jus-A-CMax replied to C-Maxgo's topic in Fuel Mileage
C-Maxgo, try this, search for "CMax", its the big one with 44K+ likes. -
Keep 'em coming members. We know Matt runs 51 PSI tires - thus far, a majority of us are running the higher psi. As for gas, I and Matt run Premium so thats pretty much even stevens. Lets see some more 600 members when they log on.

Nice start Thunderbird :)

Hmmmh...never thought about that. Great tip, will check this next time when I am at Costco.
-
mtb - great idea but I am too south for the meet but wish you KUDOS and good luck with this organization  I'll throw this idea out though - how about Mammoth Mountain? Mammoth is sponsored by Ford and they have been advertising the CMax with the "Kate to Mammoth" commercial which I am sure you have seen. Jus an idea... ;)

thunderbird - PM me if you still need help posting up a pic. Here's a request for all you 600 CMax Club members: 1. SE or SEL 2. Tire Pressure 3. Gas used (Regular/Premium/Other) 4. Any mods such as grill covers or others (please specify) I'll start 1. SEL no moonroof 2. 44-45 psi cold pressure 3. Premium (Costco) 4. No grill covers or mods, completely stock.

Patience, is a virtue grasshopper OP - congratulations! :) Enjoy your brand spanking new CMax, drive it like your old car for now...forgetabout the MPGs unless you are a 120 post lurker ala ScubaDadMiami - he's expected to pull 600 miles a tank on his 2nd tank and straight up 55 MPGs on each trip. No pressure... ;)

:mail: Yep, u got the bug....tank after tank after tank, lol! Matt - there is NO cure mate  Hey if you do the aero mods, be sure to start it in a fresh thread - that would be sweet to see what you do. May be get better aerodynamic side mirrors for starters. Can't believe they put those clunkers.

Congratulations Matt, talk about getting the most out of a tank of gas. I think this equals the Prii and its real world driving. Plus as the Prii forums like to point out, we are 300lbs heavier than their stock so not bad for a "bloated focus" as some posters there like to refer to our CMaxs. As for breaking this mark myself, I don't think its possible, I have too many canyon/grades and freeway in my terrain. Like I said much earlier, to break 650 or let alone 700, one has to drive almost all city in the 35 or (55 zone tops) for all of the tank. Obviously thats your sweet spot there in IL. It ain't happening with me, 650 may be doable but right now, my average is around 620 a tank, good enuf for my needs.

Thanks Adair, good stuff

Jus A CMax sighting...
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Been thinking about it. That HotPotato sticker would work. Right now, I have marked my vehicle with a "M" Mammoth sticker on the back...so those who cruise the Los Angeles/Ventura counties - there you go, I am in a marked car now ;) -
Jus A CMax sighting...
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
This one comes with a good story...kinda reminds me of Adair and Jelly Bean. I was heading east on Cochran Rd in Simi Valley and I saw this Candy Blue CMax up ahead. I pulled up my cam and snapped the CandyBlue and I noticed this one had the sticker in the back and something on the antenna. Cool, a CMax owner who likes to adds stuff to the car :) I could not help myself so I P&G past CandyBlue and as I glanced over to my left, I noticed it was a woman driver. She looked at me as I was passing by (surpised by this) and I gave her the thumbs up and pulled away while she ended up turning left on a street ahead. I think she was watching me in the rear vision as I was watching her. The Candy Blue is real nice, real NICE! No wonder Adair :wub2: Jelly Bean  One day she might claim this picture, I did leave the stickers on but scubbed her plate for privacy  -
We're not? Are u sure, I can sure dig up some nice cold snowboarding stories in the blizzard, storm, wind chill factor to -10F and even with my multiple Burton layers, it was still pretty cold... ...but the spraying powder was nice. ...lets not bring up about the time I need to dig out Maxine each and every day due to a foot of powder from the passing storms. ....or the other time when I was in Big Bear and it was dumping snow, snowing so hard even the Jeep SUVs were sliding off the road into the trees on the side. or how about the time when the wind was howling like 50 mph on the top and the everyone was getting a free cold facials due to the flying sleet snow. But generally the best COLD months are from Dec to March, time to keep riding the mountains, can't have snow without the cold now, can we? Sorry, I forgot we were not suppose to talk about the cold months. Me bad. Very bad. Truly bad. :salute:

wab, yep, I noticed that too but right now neither Adair nor I have the power to merge threads. For that we have to leave it to Robetlane, site owner. However, we can close the thread and drop a link to the last post to divert the postings to the battery dead thread or zhackwyatts's thread (mods to discuss) or we may just leave 2 threads running since a poll is different to on-going back and fro in the main battery thread. Thanks for letting us know, either Adair or I will keep you all posted. :)

Welcome to the website - some helpful videos for you & your new car
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Welcome
I agree salsaguy. When I first read it, it was so candid unlike other company literature. Read up on my Irvine POW-WOW thread, thats where I got the brochure from anyway. Ford is trying hard with this new car and with the Irvine meeting, it was a huge sea change in corporate interaction and thinking. It will not surprise me when later down the road, we find the new CMaxs may have benefited from the Irvine pow-wow with improved algorithms/software internally which I sense is giving these new build CMaxs some pretty astounding MPGs (compared to my experience and others here with early adopters) - mind you, thats just my opinion and observation at this time. Also, as a prospective owner, if you find anything that you think should fit in this thread, let me and Adair know and we can add it to the Post #1. -
In a Reagan voice: "there you go again....mixing aliens into this thread". *runs and leaves before Afair :finger:

There is an online manual, suggest you look it up about the actual difference between the 3. Based on my experience, the shortest will lead you to some strange surface streets as I found out while driving in Oxard. It is literally A to B with the shortest distance. Eco avoids the freeways as much as possible. It still comes down to knowing your route but if you don't, pick eco and to max your MPG (if you have the time to burn). In regards to the SD card, during the MFT issues that Galpin Ford look at, they verified my A3 card and I have the A4 version but the sticker says A3 version on that card. They were kinda befuddled as well. Those with A3, have your service advisor verify the version - well, it should not matter since the 3.5.1 update needs the A4 card which you will get when Ford gets around to it :)

Jumping from a stealth fighter to a biplane would be my impression

Welcome to the website - some helpful videos for you & your new car
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Welcome
It works, use the "Regular" link, wait 60 secs, answer some cryptic check and then click on the "download" button. -
It does. DId a Mammoth to San Fernando run last weekend, temps were a HOT 95 and peaked at 99F (Mojave) as I went thru Independence thru Mojave, wifey had the AC on 64 and that trip back cost me 47MPG and I usually do this with 51/52MPG (if I recall correctly). Same full load, route and all but this time the AC was one. The interior was cool but DANG, not one for the MPG record book

Thanks wab, excellent! salsaguy -> wot wab said :)

I think that website was there before this one came along...I dunno, thats a question for robertlane to answer.
