Woah...that blows...u sure u needed that Tahoe for a limousine service? Wifey does $85+ a tank a week in my her Jag, while mine is like $55. Can't talk her into a hybrid at this time...plus it would freak her out to "coast".
-
Try going 500-600 miles a week - thats what Maxine has been doing since I got her and she's past 10,200 miles on the odo already. If I did the same miles on my old Camry, I would still be out of pocket alot and less reliable as well. Maxine has been rock solid. Did I mention she climbs hills & mountains very well? Now, I use the 91 octane stuff so my gas is a lil higher and no thanks to CA for the higher gas prices either. (lets not start a "u r just throwing away money with premium" flamewar)....hey it works for me... ;)

I am curious...do u actually save more money with the Energi in the gas vs electricity? How much has your elec bill increased? Someone must have done the math on this...

With what you know, would you buy your C Max today (again)
Jus-A-CMax replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
Nope, next time I'll buy a Prius and blow the MPGs there - 600 miles on a Prius with a 11.5 gallon tank...there I said it.... :runaway: -
Good stuff mtb....there u go...u can do it... :) Dude...need to work on your braking, 84% is terrible...gotta look ahead and plan and ease the brakes. This give u far, far better regen = more battery = more EV.

Welcome leenanj.... Nice to see someone with a CMax that climbs mountains ;) & I for one, can truly atest that the extra HP grunt Ford gave us HELPS A TON with hill or mountain climbing. I had so much climbing and going up and down the hills around Malibu this afternoon. Do also check out my Mammoth Mountain threads for some really nice pictures and some statistics that my Maxine has been accumulating. Enjoy the forum and always feel free ask questions, nothing is too silly to ask over here :) PS We may take the mickey out of you but its very :wub2:...cheers ;)

New word for my Maxine - Hill Climber!!!! Climbed all over the Malibu hills/canyon roads today - ilots of power but burnt some gas and sooooo sweet all the way down, no problem with tight turns, this baby can hug a curve which isn't too shaby for a FWD. After today I am sooooooooo glad to have gotten that extra HP (as vs a Prii) to climb hills and steer and brilliant, brilliant views of the Pacific ocean.

Easter...its weird but I actually enjoy watching the re-runs of the Easter movies. With the Bible series scoring big on History Channel, I think there will be more interest this Easter. I guess I can't pock with the Toygers huh? ;)

You are so modest, so I will say it for you...."only better"... ;)

Jus a CMax to Mammoth Mountain and back!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
Valk, do the run from Main Lodge or Mill Parking at Mammoth Mountain and all the way to Bishop, I hate to think about the insane MPGs you will get with the larger battery in your Energi :) . I like my numbers but your Energi will rule supreme. -
Jus a CMax to Mammoth Mountain and back!
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
Thanks, coming from you, Its very much appreciated :) Kirkwood - I use to ride that mountain about almost 17 years ago when I was in Burlingame once a week. Wow, that brings back memories. You may want to try snowboarding, its much easier on the knees and your shin splints since you are travelling sideways so you have very much different pressure points and much, much, MUCH more comfortable boots than those hard ski boots. Give it a try, you may be addicted. ;) Graphs is simple, I just use Excel. Plot the numbers into Excel and graph away. In fact, what you see on that pic is actully my Excel worksheet page, just screen captured with SnagIt. I just thought for some people its easier to see the graphs than it is to see numbers. But there are number people too so I supply both. I wanted to show how much the CMax can change over the odometer. Most people think that once the 3,000 or 5,000 mile is crossed, there is no more improvement but I think my numbers show otherwise - pay particular to the Mammoth to Home graph - this was the most consistent temperatures and exact same load. Now as for the spolier - I think it may work but I am no aerodynamics engineer so tweak away my friend...I too am frustrated with the dirt and the reason why I got the same Platinum as you was that it was suppose to be harder to see the dirt...so says my wife. I dunno...I use to own a black Jaguar myself and then I had a white Ford XR-6 (its not an American car but boy can that car fang for a straight six). Hard to call on your repair...but its quite a drive from SF to Irvine for sure, and I thought LA to SF to LA was bad ;) . You will get frustrated with the 5 though from the 134 down though so try and avoid that if you can, go some other route more to the east if I were you. Perhaps take the 5 south from SF and then cut across the 210 and then cut down to Irvine from there... -

I should have an extra sticker on mine... SMILE CMAX DRIVER - u have just been photographed! CU on the forum! ;) -
mtb - it can be done :) . I've had 4 tanks in the 600 miles, running on fumes at the end and always carrying a spare 2 gallons in the back. Its a question of terrain, temperature and driving habits. What I find is that I vary between 600 to 612 and I usually have about 25 miles spare before it really goes red line (thanks to ptjones for giving us the threshold). I drive everywhere but I pretty much know my roads which help and I choose my route carefully to take advantage of the terrain. For example to go from San Fernando to Westlake Village - most people will take the 405-101 route. But what I found out is that if I climb a bit to Rocky Peak and then I use Box Canyon I just done one end of the valley (118 to 101) with a full battery at the end as I approach the 101.. Plus Box Canyon is the MOST FUN route to drive with the canyon roads and narrow, tight turns but spectacular views of the Simi Valley and San Fernando valley and very little stop lights. Sometimes going a little way out also improves your MPG but it's your call. I've had posters here flame me for spending too much time over MPGs but its my car and I drive it the way I want and if I want FAST, I can do that and if I want super MPG, I can also do that...what a car! Hope this makes sense.... :)

Perfect music for the CMax and where you driving....
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Exactly...that was one the main point...there is no noise in EV so you hear everything from the subtle guitar, unlike a gas engine drone. I had the windows down to let in the fresh ocean breeze...ah...it was so nice of a combination. And it's not something we think about either when we bought the car, just a nice, discovered benefit...(until you run out of EV juice, ha) :) -

That is soooo cool Adair.....I was pleasantly happy that I could share that experience that I had yesterday afternoon with someone right on the other side of the country knowing exactly what I meant, saw and smelt...its a small world  -

I was in Manhattan Beach, SoCal, this lovely Saturday afternoon, near 28th, Highland, Alma street. The area is like a terraced big mountain side with narrow lanes and street...dense beach houses with spectacular ocean views and the mandatory lovely restaurants and cafe. I was just cruising as I went about doing some appraisal work photographing some of the expensive houses there. I had some Hawaiian Slack guitar music playing in my Sony (comes with the SEL)...I was thinking how perfect is this music! The sun was out, my windows down, cruising in EV when I am not climbing those narrow lanes, and the crisp notes of the guitar coming out of the Sony system...so crisp like I was there. Add in some sweet smell of the ocean breeze to the ambience...I felt almost like I was lounging in the banana chairs in Maui or Kauai listening to the real thing....only thing missing was the coconut trees swaying in the breeze, and a nice cocktail... So all your CMax drivers, have you had these perfect moments with the music from your CMax and where you are driving, or are you too busy squeezing the MPGs? PS Some say this Sony is not the best but I'll tell you what, I really :wub2: the sound from this system, great for every range of music that I listen to from dance remixes to the hawaiian vocals.

Dude, you're a closet pack rat ;) ..but you have everything at hand while us mortals will be scrambling to improvise :baby:

Well pick the ones that apply - hence the multiple options. It's just to see how we drivers are trending, not scientific. May be some new drivers will come along and see something that they can visually take away in the sense that ... "hey, 55+ eco cruise is the way to go". Improving MPG - from what I experienced, I would say 1 and more 3...I don't think new drivers realize how different hybrid driving really is as most of us have driven gas cars that fang 98-100% of our driving lives and to suddenly pull 50+MPGs, that cannot be expected. From what I have seen only those prior hybrid drives like Maximus, are able to extract those 50+MPGs consistently. Even moi still gets the high 30s when I fang but on a normal "day" I get my 47+ 90% of the time. Good stuff Adair...so glad to see you're finally the MPGs that this car has. Oh...as for engine breakin...you got still a long ways to go as my Mammoth Trip 4 thread demonstrates.... :)

Just a simple poll to see how the owner/posters here drive their CMax within the following speed range: 0-20mph 21-55mph 55mph+ Just indicate your predominant driving, choose multiple if you have to. Also, if you respond, please indicate your average MPG and what you selected. Be fun & nice to see what the "trending" in the driving technique is here for our hybrid. Thanks. :) For me: 0-20 EV 21-55mph, generally P&G 55+ ICE High MPG with eco, sometimes manual when I decide to have fun, P&G, or just eco-cruise. For me, the key is the 0-20mph. IMO, this saves me the most gas.

I saw one grey CMax parked in a McDee along Coldwater and Victory. Didn't have time to catch it with the cam though....slowly but surely, WE WILL ASSIMILATE the world ;)
