  1. Hombre, this forum is about discussing C-maxes. It isn't a bulletin board for commercials.
  2. Mmmm.. My dealership apparently "ran out of time" for this recall even though I brought the car in at 9 a.m. for the first service. Looks like they were pulling the wool over my eyes.
  3. I have a small carport next to a small alley and have had zero problems so far. I think there was a minor complaint from some members that the turning radius was larger than expected for a small car. Can't say that I have noticed one way or the other.
  4. It was SEL or nothing for me too. Mainly for aesthetic reasons but also for leather and NAV. My wife and I laugh over how useless the voice recognition is but other than that we are thoroughly pleased after a year of ownership. There's a discussion of the Consumer Reports assessment of the '13 Hybrid on the forum somewhere. From what I remember the "unreliable" label was unfairly based on myFord dissatisfaction.
  5. I think he means the the temperature gauge has (7? 8?) increments, rather than being infinitly variable. I do agree that the "leaves" screen (mine's on the compass now) would be much better if it was 3 customizable gauges such as oil temp, water temp and tranny oil temp.
  6. Why did I never think of that? Hooked up to a hot water tap would be even better!
  7. I've been a year and I think we've ruled out bad batteries and, slow parasitic drains, but nobody has figured out why the SE model seems most vulnerable and the SEL and Energi (all SEL) are less prone to the problem. If the battery does die from repeated insufficient charging, then why has nobody reported dead cars after being in Walmart for two hours or after the morning dentist appointment. They ALL seem to be after the car has been sitting through the night. Certainly no harm in hooking up a voltmeter (there was a thread on $2 cig.lighter ones before) and monitoring the results.
  8. Great information Kostby. Thanks for taking the time. So is 2015 the last year for the C-max hybrid? I know it's only March but I can't find any info online about 2016 models.
  9. At the risk of flip-flopping, that makes complete sense. Filling your tires to 50 psi is probably not going to do much harm, but arriving at that number from a non-scientific "feeling" that the car rides better is kind of like picking oil based on how it feels between your fingers.
  10. Wow SStoner, impressive for a newbie. We might have to call you our new Dr Diesel. It's almost like he's still with us :victory:
  11. That sounds reasonable, considering the plethora of tire manufacturers. Ford deflated my tires to 40 psi when I had my first service. So I put them back up to 45.
  12. Welcome to the forum DP. It's a very good suggestion, but as far as I know both parasitic and charging issues have been ruled out. Also, a member noticed a few months ago that his battery was healthy at 2 a.m. and dead at 6 a.m. Something seems to be draining the batteries fast, and it always seems to be in the morning after the car has been sitting for several hours. What you suggest would be similar to a bad alternator in a conventional car---which would lead to weak batteries and then dead batteries at various times (say after sitting in a parking lot for 2 hours). That doesn't seem to be the case with the C-max (and mostly with the SE model). I have the SEL and the car has been flawless in a year of ownership.
  13. My main concern with that would be when the tire gets hot you're over the safety limit put there by Michelin. Welcome to the forum. We're a mellow bunch but some of us get cranky when we misplace our false teeth or walking sticks.
  14. Frank, with respect: Are you suggesting, in all these years of automotive engineering, that GMC, Ford, Volvo, BMW, you name it can't figure out the safest, most efficient, most economical tire inflation pressure and put it on the placard? Seriously?
  15. Welcome aboard. There are some very knowledgeable folks around here. My wife and I also felt the Fusion Hybrid was monstrous in size. I tend to think the C-max is a much more versatile car.
  16. Frustrating. Hopefully it's just a sensor to be replaced and you'll be able to enjoy getting to know your car and it's unique qualities. Welcome to the Forum.
  17. This may be a shot in the dark, but is it possible your trans. oil temperature sensor has gone wonky? I know they are usually bulletproof, but the one in my Audi failed and set off a warning light.
  18. Can we agree that it's probably in the ballpark of 0.3-0.6 gallons/hour.
  19. In 2017, you'll still be able to buy a V12 supercar getting 12 MPG, flaunting your disdain for global warning and humanity with a deft rush down the block. But increasingly there will be environmental taxes that make it less desirable to own these things. Personally, I'm more excited about high performance electric technology, although I'd still give my left pinkie for a gas-gulping vintage Jaguar.
  20. It's possible, Paul. But the trips would have be very short. My wife drives 12 miles to work every day--no problems in a year. Mind you we have the SEL. I doubt you would find very many Ford service reps claiming that the C-max is "not a city car".
  21. Fluids check/top-up and multipoint inspection. I did get a complementary oil change at my first service and it was at 8,000 km (5,000 miles) And they rotated the tires.
  22. Sounds about right (better than my .06/min estimate). Golfer reported that his was about .01 gallons/minute when tested. Pretty efficient, either way.
  23. You treasonous old so-and-so.... I traded in an A6 (v8) when I bought my C-max. I miss the big, comfy seats, the 335 horsepower and the heated steering wheel. The rain-sensing wipers were on crack and I don't miss the staggering repair bills and the $100 fill ups. I was on one of the Audi forums too. I felt like I was in a maximum security prison. Let's just say the uncouth conduct makes our forum look like the retired English ladies' lawn bowling club. "Cucumber sandwich, anyone?"
  24. Excellent point, Frank. As far as I know, Jus (Jus-a-Cmax) and Robert (robertlane) are our moderators.
