There's a whole thread on that CSP -- do a lookup here on the forum (it will explain what folks have had happen when they had it done). Some of us fall into that program but haven't yet gotten the notice (it's effective until May of next year -- not sure what will happen for those VINs that are part of the program who haven't been noticed by then, but I'm guessing Ford will still have to make good on it somehow).

what are these recalls and how urgent are they?
Kelleytoons replied to SillyBear's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Someone pointed out to me you actually *can* get a cup of coffee at Mickey D's for $1 -- the cup is the size my doctor asks me to pee in, however, and the coffee... well, it also has some similarities to that experience. So I stand corrected (which, to continue a theme, is also the position I have to be in when... well, TMI). -

$1.00?! Um, who are you really, like Marty McFly? Next thing you know you'll be ordering a Pepsi Free. And it's not 25 cents to make a phone call anymore. (Actually, in point of fact, you'll probably be interested to know they don't have pay phones anymore. But that's too complicated to go into right now. Just take your life jacket and move on). -
Yeah, I'm old too and I don't even notice any difference in speed between this and my (hugely heavy) Durango, which has so much inertia that it takes a lot to get it going in ANY direction. But that does make me wonder if perhaps the OP's problem is not that the backup speed is too fast but his brakes aren't adjusted properly. As everyone says, you need to use the brake to go in reverse and control that speed, but perhaps his brakes are "catching" too much (brakes are easy to adjust, at least with old technology. Who knows what is in cars nowadays?). Or, to put it another way, Maximis certainly does not "jump" in reverse or I'd be in big trouble -- I have a very tight two car (yeah, right -- 1 1/2 is more like it) garage where I am pulled over to the max in order to give my wife enough room to get into the Durango. I have to manuever *very* carefully backing out or I'd take off the driver's side mirror (I don't pull straight in but rather at an angle to give her that room). So for me it's a matter of backing out at least five seconds to go the 20 or so feet. Any issues in backing out would be apparent right away, and I've never even paid it any attention. So there is something certainly odd here -- perhaps his car just isn't working correctly.

Customer Satisfaction Program 15B04
Kelleytoons replied to Bill-N's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Yeah, a whole lot of us use bluetooth and have active connections when the vehicle is then turned off, so while it *could* be an issue it is unlikely to be the only one (IOW, there might be a fault in a module somewhere that then causes this, but the module isn't at fault in all vehicles obviously). I couldn't get along without my bluetooth connections (it was one of the things that drove me to this car).- 63 replies

Customer Satisfaction Program 15B04
Kelleytoons replied to Bill-N's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
I hope I get my letter in the next three months or so, in time for the oil change. But, as Paul says, you don't really want to fix what isn't broken (particularly with the mileage he has on his Max!). I guess this is one of those "let's see if anyone without a battery problem NOW reports a problem after this "fix").- 63 replies

Thanks, Meagan. I'll most likely wait then at least until my first oil change (probably in two more months or so) and if they haven't sent me a letter by then I'll contact them first and see what's up.
-
Megan, If you know your VIN is part of a CSP but you have not gotten a letter from your dealer is it okay to just contact them and request they do the fix? I do not have issues, and I know this particular CSP is active until next May, but if I never get a letter I want to be sure I get this thing reprogrammed correctly (so I could just wait for my first oil change, for example, if it's okay to request that change be done then).

Customer Satisfaction Program (but who the heck really knows what *that* means?)
-
There is a new TSB out (called a "customer satisfaction program 15B04) for a lot of our vehicles, and I'm guessing yours will fit that as well (it's like every 2013-2014 up to about June of last year manufactuer) that reprograms the module that may be causing a lot of battery issues. You are likely to get a letter from your dealer about both of your vehicles, but you can also have them check the VIN and see if you qualify (I haven't gotten my letter yet, but it's in effect until next May and I suspect they are taking their time getting to them all). My gut tells me this will solve nearly all the problems that aren't otherwise obvious (like the faulty cable issue).

The tray is almost worthless for anything, though, and there is a ton of wasted space (because everything else is WAY too deep to reach easily). I ordered the new one and we'll see -- I don't use the USB connectors for anything anyway (and my phone certainly stays in my pocket -- heck, that's why I have the Apple watch <g>) but perhaps there will now be enough depth to actually store some things handily.

So I assume the cutout on the (from the driver's point of view) right side is to accomodate the USB ports? If so, I might pick one up.

Is Ford phasing out the C-Max Hybrid?
Kelleytoons replied to ChrisMax's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
As much as I loved our Durango, I'm really glad I don't have a small SUV hybrid. Yeah, the higher ground clearance is nice, but if it comes at the expense of mpg (which it surely would) I'd pass (I just like being seated higher off the ground as I am currently in Maximis, as opposed to most cars). I also don't need 4wd, although I realize that most people don't live in Florida <g>. The thing I really *wouldn't* want is the truck suspension -- I don't know if the Ford Escape has that or not, but the actual drive of the C-Max is SO much nicer than any SUV I've ridden in I would never give that up. To me, the C-Max is the perfect compromise -- and, yes, to me it's the hybrid Escape, at least in terms of all the things I'd want out of the Escape. -

To me, the C-Max IS an Escape Hybrid -- that was how our salesman referred to it (once we had driven both the Focus hybrid and the Escape and admitted we liked the Escape more). And, yes, that was what we would like as well. I wouldn't give up Maximis for it, but I'd sure buy it (and then each of us would have a hybrid, although I'm not sure who would drive what). -

Yeah, I would be sad if we lost our C-Max but it's one of those times you shouldn't worry about what you can't control. Just enjoy your ride and if it's a dying breed think how very special you then are to have had one. -
Possible C-Max owner seeking advice
Kelleytoons replied to erica's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I absolutely LOVE MFT and hate the built-in Sirius (which is why I let it lapse and won't renew) so everyone's mileage, so to speak, is different. But I would strongly consider getting MFT for any vehicle (I have the SE but you can get the upgraded package which includes it -- IIRC it comes standard with the SEL). My gut tells me we've seen the end of the battery problem, but folks who have had it might not feel the same way. It wouldn't stop me at all from buying another Max (indeed, at some point we may well do that). Every car will have their own set of issues -- my own Honda, while lasting me 170K miles, did develop electrical problems that plagued it for the last 8 years of its life and where a bit PITA (and similar to the Max, could not be solved by any dealership or repair department). So just because you have one car that works for you doesn't mean anything when buying another, one way or the other. The C-Max is the best car I've ever owned, in nearly 5 decades of car ownership. I can't recommend it highly enough. -
Good thing I won't live long enough to see it <g>.
-
When we first got the car it would get "lost" and suddenly show us on streets that, frankly, just didn't exist. We came in and they reprogrammed it (there is a TSB or two on this, which you can find via a forum search) and all was well. After that it has never had a problem, navigating all over Florida. But if the OP isn't getting that same symptom I don't know what to tell them. That particular thing is VERY easy to see -- it's as if your NAV has gone brain dead (it happened to me back to the dealership and I was unfamiliar with the route -- luckily I was able to piece together from memory where to turn. So I guess my old brain hasn't *quite* gotten friend yet).
-
So any word on what customers will be eligible? It seems to me it almost has to be ANY folks who have bought 2014 or earlier models, right? I mean, they might have locked this down in 2015, but we've seen at least some 2014 SEs with this issue (IIRC).
-
I think you are absolutely right -- that just sounds exactly like the sort of thing that they couldn't pin down and would explain so many cases around here that could not be explained by physical things (like the corroded cables, for example). If so, that's VERY good news for so many folks. What we really need now is someone with an issue that could not be resolved that finally is with this. Hopefully we'll have some volunteers <g>.
-
That price beats what I paid, for an SE model, so yes, sounds good to me.

what are these recalls and how urgent are they?
Kelleytoons replied to SillyBear's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Right, just to be clear, the first one relates to whether you got your rebate check or not (so you'll know if it applies to you), and the third can be done online or by the dealer over the phone (which is what they did for me). The second is the only significant one, and as fbov says, only significant to those with battery issues or potential battery issues. I'm of the opinion if it ain't broke don't fix it, so unless you are experiencing said issues I wouldn't worry about it. But that's just me. -
This one sounds like the classic case of "don't fix what isn't broken" so personally I won't pay any attention to it... for now (but glad it was mentioned as you never know when you might fall into that particular category of folks with battery problems).

I kind of hate pano roofs in general, so to each his own. I would not say that it's a slam dunk, that's for sure.
