Locking Gas Cap?
zhackwyatt replied to salprint's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I heard that most people were just jamming a screwdriver into the tank and draining it from the bottom. Seems easier to do than to siphon anyways. -
I solved it. When you are just playing with it, it will unlock with one kick. When you have your hands full, you need two kicks. Seriously though, today was the first time that it required two kicks for me, and I did nothing different than I do when it requires 1 kick. What about the angle the car is parked? If it's parked downhill a little bit, maybe it's harder for it to open?

Hmm, I guess I would have to see a picture or drawing to understand. -

I live in Phoenix and when it's 115 out, there is no way I'm going to interfere w/ any cooling mechanism in this car :) -
Do you mind posting a picture of what it looks like from the inside and the outside? I'm seeing if I can switch to the Bi-directional remote start and was thinking of having them move the antennae as well.

Yes. Some folks may be referring to the interior protection package, which is basically rubber floor mats that do not come standard that you have to order at an additional cost..

What about adding it as a powertrain/engine option?

Maybe it knows the difference between a missing sensor and a low pressure reading? Just ignores the missing sensor?

When are they just going to fill the whole car up with foam like in Demolition Man? -

You can find the manual online at http://www.motorcraftservice.com/ (use the Owner Guides link on the left). -
EV+ and tracking your C-Max with SYNC
zhackwyatt replied to AgentCMAX's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
FYI you can use it for navigation. You use sync services to find the destination it will then download the turn-by-turn directions to the car. -
I live in Phoenix and decided against the sun roof. Seems to me that it would allow even more heat in :(

Most detailed review video I have seen.

I don't think that's true. They are non-profit and do not sell advertising. However that does not mean they are impartial. If you search for Consumer Reports bias you can find a lot of arguments on the matter. Ever since they showed full support for Obamacare (a controversial and giant piece of legislation) I don't trust them as being unbiased anymore.

Where did the dealer put the remote start antennae on your car? The dealer put mine on the rear-view mirror (see pictures) and I can't come up with a better place.

Look at the last couple of bullets on page 117 of the Owner's Guide. You need to configure the instrument panel to display Charge Assist. I'm assuming that somehow it got turned off? You can turn it on and off per display mode too, like on for Empower and off for Inform, so maybe you have it on for one display and off for another? You can choose the "Apply to all screens" option to turn it on or off globally.

For the C-max you don't need to pull twice. Once your skin touches the inside door handle, it will unlock. it just takes a second, I wait until I can hear it unlock and then pull once. If you are too quick, then you would have to pull twice. To lock, use the key or push the black square on the outside door handle. My parents have this misconception that the car automatically unlocks when they get close to it because every time they pull on the handle it opens, but that's because its unlocking as soon as you touch it.

What I use is the sms feature of fuelly. You send a text message to their number, in the format of mpg or miles driven, price of gas when bought, and gallons put in the car. Fuelly does the rest. You don't have to write it down and remember to enter later on the computer through a web browser. Using the tasker program on android, I even have it set up to launch an application that prompts me for those three items and sends it to fuelly.

After 1000 miles have you ever had a problem with your C-Max?
zhackwyatt replied to zhackwyatt's topic in General Discussion
What would really be nice is if the moderators pinned it, but they seem to be very quiet on the forums. -
That's what happened to me, I ordered the last week of July and took delivery the last week of November because for the longest time it wasn't ordered. After they found their mistake, they got it in as priority 1

I would argue that their car, especially something like a C-Max, is the most complex item most people own and we expect it to be the most reliable item we own.

My theory with all of this, is that it's not like Ford has a dart board that they throw at and out comes a tire pressure. I'm sure there is specific reasons they choose that, and since I don't know the specific reasons, I'm going to follow their recommendations :)
