  1. Cool pictures fotomoto! We had a big ground frost last night and I am afraid to go look at my tomatoes etc. I think they may have been zapped with the frost. Today will be day of mourning for hubby. We love our C-Max so much that we are down sizing to one car. We sold hubby's Lexus GX460 with 14,000 kilometers on it to friends on Vancouver Island. We pick them up at the ferry this morning and then go do the transfer papers. Hubby loved that vehicle but it was a gas guzzler and has sat in the garage unused since buying the C-Max. But I know it will be hard for him to say goodbye to it. Friends got a great deal and will take good care of it. Update: White Beauty (the Lexus) is now gone to a new home. I feel like I'm a member of a cult of C-Max drivers as I have to say while driving to the ferry to pick up our buyers of the Lexus, I criticized everything about the Lexus i.e. wind noise louder in it due to no noise cancelling system, seats less comfortable, vehicle too big and seems to take much of the driving lane, and the voice recognition with navigation in the C-Max is 50% better than the Lexus.. I honestly do prefer our C-Max over the White Beauty. I have drunk the kool-aid LOL.
  2. Go for as much technology as you can afford in my opinion. We have the 303 A and love all the features. Especially the camera and sensors front and rear. Love the panorama roof for the extra light. The only feature that we got that we don't need is park assist. We could easily live without that. Surprisingly I love Sirius radio which you get a six month free trial of--ours is soon to expire and I hope to dicker with Sirius to get a deal when they phone to renew it. Good luck in your decision making.
  3. They must think we all travel downhill 90% of the time. I wrote to Ford Canada and said that those 4.0 and 4.1 calculations could never be consistently achieved. No response from them. On the highway, we are getting between 4.8 and 5.2 lots of the time. I have some 3.6 and 3.8 locally on short trips. We still haven't taken our car on a long trip yet.
  4. I get puzzled at how slowly the life time mileage changes. I have had a zillion great trips with mileage better than as advertised, but ours takes forever to show an improvement. You want yours to go up and we want ours to go down --crazy how the Canadian and American mileage accounting is so different. We are aiming for a consistent 5.0 L per kilometer and you are aiming for 47 mpg--so every time ours drops I'm thrilled and every time yours goes up you are thrilled. My brain gets strained trying to translate mileage and temperatures into mpg and farenheit LOL.
  5. Right you are Jus. Our normal trips are ranging from 4.2 to 5.2 L per 100 kilometers (45 to 57 mpg US). It just bugs me that my little hops drag down my life time mileage. I am tempted to reset it now that temps are up as the winter temps really buggered it, but that seems a little dumb in a way and dishonest. We are very happy with our mileage and the car.
  6. I just had to run out to the local super market which is 1.6 kilometers from my garage--roughly 1 mile away. Since it was cool out at 10C with hail, I put on climate to 22C (in the toasty 70's F). My mileage over was 18.9 L per 100 kilometers which nearly gave me heart failure as that is about 12 mpg US. On the way home, I turned climate off and got 1.6 L per 100 kilometers which is 147 miles per gallon US. That made my palpitations settle down, but boy is it ever hard to get my life time mileage down with those extremes!
  7. We were missing the keys in our fobs, and it took about two weeks to get them ordered in. In hindsight, the fobs were way too light in weight to have anything in them, but I never noticed until another poster ran into that problem and I checked ours.
  8. I think you are right Riddley. They will be singing in the kitchen together like they do back in the Maritimes. I had forgotten all about Stan. Thanks for the good memories.
  9. One of our national treasures, Rita MacNeil, died this past week. She was from Big Pond, Nova Scotia and was a singer who sang about real life in the Maritimes of Canada. She had a very hard life--born poor with a cleft palate. I am just watching an old concert in which she sang with the real coal miners of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Not a good month as we lost Stompin' Tom Connors last month too. Jus and Rachel may be familiar with Rita and Tom. Crank up your C-Max radios when you see their names and enjoy some true Canadiana. Rest in peace Rita. Feeling a little melancholy after watching too much CNN about the Boston situation--so forgive the off topic obit.
  10. Jus, I think Ford will be hiring you soon and we will see you featured in a C-Max commercial. Good job!
  11. The weekend is going well Adair. I am multi tasking--making chili, apple crisp, filling my back deck railing planters with plants, assembling a mini green house for my tomatoes (to prevent tomato blight). You know the usual women's work <g>. I love your enthusiasm and humour Adair. Your posts are a high light.
  12. I probably missed the announcement somewhere that you are a new moderator too Adair. Congratulations as you are perfect for the job. Go girl!
  13. Today I emailed Ford Canada to ask when we can expect the navigation 3.5.1 update, and I asked if the hold up was because we need more than a new SD card and perhaps some complicated module installed. Here is my prompt response from them: "This is the only information that we have been provided: Why is the software for the electrified vehicles arriving so late? The electrified vehicles – Focus Electric, C-MAX Hybrid and Energi, Fusion Hybrid – have several specific updates beyond the updates in Version 3.5, including the power flow screen and charge location database. It is my understanding that the update does not require a new module, and the installation will be similar to the non electric vehicles." So I guess our screen and those damned Energi owners(LOL) who need info. on charging stations that is holding things up. I was really pleased with the quick response.
  14. Yeah but, our 127 L per 100 kilometers works out to under 2 mpg US. How do you two get 999 mpg? What are we doing wrong?
  15. fotomoto every time I see your new name I read it as tomato --must be a combo of me not wearing my glasses, your red car and me being obsessed with gardening LOL.
  16. I have only been questioned by one person in the shopping mall a couple of months ago. I was very careful to talk about winter mileage, the impact of warming up the car etc. I didn't want him to think I had duped him down the road if he bought one and didn't get the advertised mileage. The mileage really varies here in our climate. Husband said he should have taken a picture the other day when he moved the car a half block when he was washing it and got 127 L per 100 kilometers--he was aghast LOL.
  17. I think Mistergizmo and wab are absolutely correct. My husband never has the reverse issue and he is a retired airline pilot who is so methodical with his "pre-flight check list" that I want to pull my hair out while we are getting ready for departure. I have had the issue 3 times and I tend to have my head filled with other things and I am always in a hurry to the extent that I can almost forget to open the garage door before backing up <g>. I have found that doing everything in the C-Max with a methodical slow approach averts many issues. My old nav. from November purchase works tickety boo from day one as I am very slow with it--basically because I am a techno phobe and have to go slow.
  18. I use the grade assist all of time in town going down hills to regenerate my brakes. It works super well. It doesn't slow me down below the speed limit, but keeps me from run away coasting and builds up my battery at the same time.
  19. Can someone tell me how you all are taking such clear pictures of mileage? I have tried several times and have dark pictures. We are getting some stellar mileage with the temperatures warming up, but I can't prove it to all of you with my illegible pictures. I have used my husband's iphone and my photos are awful!
  20. Today I went out several times and no problems, but each time I waited for the screen to come on before putting it into reverse. I will continue monitoring the situation.
  21. That is a good thought. I will sit and wait for back up camera next time if it is slow to come on. My last reverse issue occurred when I put it into reverse when it said ready to drive, but I had no back up camera coming on and I put it into reverse with no luck.
  22. I had the reverse issue again this morning. I positively was in ready to drive mode. What I noticed was that when I pushed the button to start with my foot on the brake, I had no nav. screen display. It was black. I shifted into reverse, and no reverse. I put it back into park, waited a few seconds, the car went into ICE, the nav screen came on and then I shifted into reverse with no problem.
  23. I am umber obedient and will follow the sticker that they slapped on Tip. I haven't had a change oil light yet, but my mileage is super low. Didn't the dealership put one of those stickers on your dash to say when to come back? They did before I drove away.
  24. Happy Birthday Jus! May you have many many more happy healthy years. Enjoy your golf game.
  25. You're welcome Jus. I love the Masters too. I clear my calendar every year so I can hunker down and watch it. I agree with all you said--especially the thumbs up act of generosity shown by Angel. I was rooting for Jason, but quickly switched to my second favourite who was Adam Scott. I have to confess that a big draw of the Master is the gardening --lovely rhodos, viburnum and azaleas. But I am a golf fan for sure. I'm breaking out a nice Australian Shiraz to go with dinner tonight.
