Jus you must be doing a bit of celebrating since Adam Scott just won the Masters. First time for an Australian. :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet:

Our service sticker says May or 6000 kilometers which ever comes first. So that is 3600 miles or six months. I wonder why the US standard seems different than the Canadian one? I have about 2300 km on my car and it should be about 3000 km when we go in.

Thanks Andrew. Fingers are crossed. Waiting for gen 2 is a grand idea, and no car payments is sure something to celebrate. Take care and don't disappear --you don't want to miss the gen 1 soap opera <g>.

Ford's site with instructional videos for C-Max
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Good idea Jus. I had thought of just sending it to you so you could do that. Next time I will. -
Jed we have had our SEL C-Max since the end of November and we love it. We live in Vancouver, British Columbia which has a much milder climate than Ohio (we get very little snow here, and only experience brief periods with temperatures that go below -4 C). From our experience if you will be disappointed with mileage of less than 40 US mpg in the winter, then likely the C-Max won't be the car for you. We basically knew that when we bought the car from doing research about hybrids so it was not disappointing to us. The other features of the car such as wonderful horse power and acceleration when you need it, comfortable interior, high seat position and good visibility, quietness in the interior, good storage, and all the excellent technology more than make up for lower mileage in the winter. If you aren't familiar with driving a hybrid and don't want to modify your driving habits to achieve better mileage then it likely isn't the car for you. It was a learning curve for us to learn how to get the best out of the car--such as gradual even stopping versus racing up to the light and stopping, steady even take off at lights and then easing back to get into EV mode. Some of those things don't sit well with certain drivers, but we have found that it is critical for getting good mileage. I would say from my experience you do have to drive differently and thoughtfully to get good mileage. I know many find that they can drive it like any other car and get good mileage, but I don't really find that. It is a car where you have to think about driving and you can't just do it by rote like in other cars. My husband and I find that to be interesting and challenging, but it is not for everyone. Our mileage is steadily improving now that temperatures are warming up--right now it averaging about 10-13C--and we are meeting the EPA standards most drives now. But we sure do notice how poor the mileage is until the car warms up. But if you have a figure in your head that you always expect concerning mileage, then you will be disappointed. I had no experience driving a hybrid, but I would say that this is the first car that I have ever bought that I truly love. It is almost like driving around in a computer game LOL When I come in the door my husband will ask me "what mileage did you get?" and I always ask him the same. We try to best one another. I got 2.5 L per 100km the other day driving mostly downhill and he was oh so envious (that is 94 mpg US) LOL. Good luck in making your big decision.

https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerVideoPage&year=2013&make=Ford&model=C-MAX%20Hybrid Maybe you all have found this site before, but it is new to me. You highlight the video you want to watch i.e. intelligent blinkers and then go up to the top right hand corner and play the video. I never knew that we have intelligent turn signals and I was always cursing to myself because they seem to cut off before I complete my turn. Now I know what to do as they are more intelligent than me LOL. There are about 20 videos there covering any question you might have about a C-Max feature. The only thing I didn't like about the site was it has a couple of videos that aren't specific to the C-Max such as setting memory seats. But I think over all it is helpful.

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
Laurel replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
I have to confess that I am in your shoes too. I believe that I had the reverse issue last week, but I could not swear on a Bible that I indeed was in ready to drive mode. I always do the same thing when starting up ie. foot on brake pedal, push button, watch for ready to drive, and then put car in reverse. However, it becomes such a rote activity that I possibly could have zoned out for a second and the car was not in ready to drive mode. I wouldn't mind having a gong sound when it is ready to drive LOL. -
Glad that it worked Red Twin. I know with the younger users they have very fast fingers when using technology i.e. watch fingers fly when texting. I have found with the C-Max being slow and methodical with all things works best--that includes shifting gears and using the navigation system.

I'm glad the buy back went well Andrew. I'm sure you will be happy with the Fiesta as it is a nice car --very good mileage I hear.
-
Nicely stated. I doubt whether Ford would leave us in the lurch with this issue. My nav works well and it is the older version as I have a November 2012 build date, but it would be nice to get the new one with the changes that have come out. Thanks Jus for telling us how to check which one we have by going to Syncmyride.com. I didn't know that I could do that. Looks like I need to register for 911 --alas no vehicle health reports available in Canada, but I can get the 911 assist according to the site.

Do you by accident turn the voice off? You can do that with an icon on the screen, or internally or by voice. Try voice command "navigation voice on or navigation voice louder". I frequently have to tell my voice "navigation voice softer" as she is so loud.

FOOT ACTIVATED LIFTGATE IS INTERMITTENT
Laurel replied to BWP's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
My hatch has worked this way since we bought it at the end of November. i.e. one kick if unlocked and two if locked. Never have had a problem. I think we have a bunch of clumsy owners with no sense of rhythm LOL. I enjoy kick dancing with Tip. I did try somebody's suggestion of one slow kick when locked and no luck for me. -
water trapped in hatch door, drainage hole covered?
Laurel replied to jeff-tx's topic in Body Panels, Trim, etc.
We have the SEL bought at the end of November. I just went to look at the hatch and we have two stickers on--driver and passenger side and a hole in the middle with no sticker. I will just leave them on until I ask the service guy next month if I should take them off. Since it seems to be a common theme to have two stickers on and one off, I think there is a purpose to them. -
Who has 3.1.3 Nav and IT WORKS PROPERLY?
Laurel replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
We have the SEL 303a --no floating triangle and no TSB as we haven't been in for the first servicing yet. All is working well. One incident of having to pair up my phone again and that's it. -
I read your message, but I am not a computer whiz. Someone else will jump in I'm sure. Sorry I don't have your answer.

I have it on my list for when I book the first servicing in May so I will let you know what they say. I have only one other item so far which was the not going into reverse that happened once this past week.

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
Laurel replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
I had the reversing issue this afternoon. Put the brake on, pushed the button to start, and the dash said "ready to drive". I put the car into reverse and nothing happening. I shifted to park and waited for a few seconds and shifted to reverse, and it still wouldn't go into reverse. I turned the car off and restarted it and it went into reverse. I will have to let our service manager know this issue when I take it in for its first service in May. -
Ours isn't twitchy at all. I read a thread somewhere --maybe on the Energi Forum--about someone having that problem and it was a problem that was corrected when they took it in to be inspected for the complaint.
-
I think we have a precursor of a battery problem. We can't sit and listen to the car radio with the car in accessory mode without a message coming up to turn the car off to save power or start the engine. This is new and I think is indicative of a low charge on that 12 v. battery. Tip is due for her first servicing next month (the sticker says May or 10,000 km we are super low mileage at 2500 km so May is when it will happen). So I will be putting this on the servicing list. In the mean time hubby says he will go and charge up the 12v. battery. I wonder if this is happening because of no long trips? We seem to do lots of 10 to 20 k trips lately.

Finally--C-Max Review in the Vancouver Sun today
Laurel replied to Laurel's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Thanks Ryan! I tried posting it twice and briefly it would work and then disappear. -
We bought our C-Max four months ago. Until today there have been no articles locally about it. The dealers still have no advertisements for the C-Max and no ads for the Fusion Hybrid. And we have yet to see another C-Max locally. Our local car reviewer seemed to like the C-Max so maybe things we start happening with sales here on the South Coast of BC. See Ryan's link below.
