  1. It is a very good feature. We had it on our Lexus SUV. It probably saved our lives while driving in Los Angeles a year ago. We were on one of the scary giant freeways keeping up with traffic which was over 75-80 miles per hour (something we are not used to in Canada) and a big flat deck truck suddenly pulled right in front of me in my lane and then the cars in front of him suddenly put their brakes on. It all happened super fast and our Lexus abruptly applied the brakes on its own before I could even react. Without that happening we would have been under the flat deck. It did feel rather freaky though as I thought at first that I had a divine intervention LOL as I did not know about the feature, and I was surprised our air bags didn't inflate as it was very abrupt.
  2. I just phoned my service rep. Nothing on their computers for our SEL. She said we would receive a letter when it is available to us. And alas she said Canada is often months behind when a recall is issued in the States. Oh poop! But on the plus side our system works just fine.
  3. I'm sorry that you have recently lost your husband. That must be really difficult for you However, it's great that you are getting an new SEL. Congratulations. One thing that I have learned since getting our SEL last November is to do everything slowly. Don't start pushing buttons madly if something on MFT isn't coming up quickly. We use the voice commands for everything with the nav and we have the old system and it works well. I find if you get in too big of a hurry it is easy to screw up and not remember the little things like putting your foot on the brake before starting, or putting the car in reverse when you are not in ready to drive mode (but think you are). So just be slow and methodical with everything. We made cheat sheets for the voice commands and that really helped in the beginning. You will love your car, and if anything perplexes you come here and ask as we have a great bunch of members who will help with any little glitches. WELCOME.
  4. Scooter good to see you back on the forum. How is your car doing? And your MFT?
  5. Ford Canada answered me promptly saying there is no date available for the MFT update. I'm glad our system has worked like a charm as it sounds like there is nothing on the pipeline soon. Of course sometimes in Canada we are out of the loop.
  6. I just sent another email to Ford Canada asking for any information that they may have on the update. I pointed out that people are losing faith. I'll let you know what I hear. My fingers are crossed.
  7. Val I feel so sad reading about your disappointment. You are so knowledgeable about the car and helped us all so much with your advice. This is a real bummer.
  8. Wingrider01 I am sorry you are so disappointed thus far. I guess we have been real lucky with ours as we have no nav or sync issues (knocking on wood) and we have a November 2012 build. I think if you are a perfectionist type personality it would be hard to accept less than having everything performing as advertised. I can see why you wouldn't want to take a big financial hit, but living with high stress and elevated cortisol levels as a result isn't good for you. We sold our 2011 Lexus and 2011 Smart Car and took big financial hits and had to do some self talk before selling them i.e. we will lose money but in the end it is worth it to us. I think putting your concerns in writing and sending them on to Ford would be a helpful thing as I'm sure they don't want unhappy customers. Dealerships all seem to vary and we experienced that when I booked our first service for our C-Max. First place was rude and indifferent so I cancelled there and went to a different one who treated us very well. Best of luck and keep your chin up.
  9. StoBro2 what a face! We have a Basset in the neighbourhood named George and he is a heart breaker too.
  10. Your car looks super great fotomoto. Nice job. You sure are a hard worker--loads of stone and landscaping and now car detailing.
  11. I wonder if you will get THE update? Interesting that things are happening when it is hot out. Poor Jelly-- she'll get homesick.
  12. Viajero when in L by accident it sounded like an engine rev'ing very high and loud. So not sure what that is about. Next time we take the car out, we will drive it in L for awhile and see what happens. I'll let you know the outcome. It was so loud that we both though we had a big problem.
  13. Homestead that sounds good --I would be pleased as punch.
  14. Best of luck on your long trip. Keep us posted about how Yippie does, and how you and yours do as well.
  15. Fotomoto you were quick like a bunny. Your end result is lovely!
  16. Our car in low sounded VERY loud, and I immediately said "something is wrong with the car". So one has to think that L and D are very different gear ratios even in a hybrid.
  17. We had one episode of my husband driving our C-Max in low for about a mile, but immediately he was questioning that something was wrong with the car due to the engine noise being so loud. He then noticed that he was in low gear. Another reason for them to have lighted indicators for the gears on the console. I'm not sure how I would handle this situation with the dealership i.e. if something goes wrong due to the high rpm's will the warranty still cover you? Maybe our warranties cover us even when we do something like this and problems come up as a result--does anyone know the answer?
  18. Pretty impressive fotomoto! Now we will be waiting to see the completed garden project. I like the stone. Are you making a raised bed?
  19. Lucky you. We still have not seen one yet and we are six months into having ours.
  20. Just back from Tip's first servicing (6 months or 8,000 kilometers). The dealership was great. Tip has new oil, rotated tires, brakes inspected, etc. No problems detected at all. No word on any MFT updates. We only have 3,400 kilometers on her. Our dealership still has only sold 2 C-Maxes --ours and one Energi. Ours the first in for service. I noticed that they still have a 2012 Focus all electric marked down from $43,900 to $36,900. The electric cars are not in demand here at all as they are few charging stations available. PS They had a new Candy Blue SEL in the showroom. I looked in the console for the cup thingy. None there. I was going to ask if I could have if it had been there.
  21. Adair what a nice uplifting story. Thanks for telling it.
  22. Thanks Fred. We got advice on the forum to increase our AC temperature as we were running it very cool (18-20C) and our mileage was terrible as a result. We upped it to 22C and that helped lots.
  23. Are you saying that your mileage is better with climate control on and AC on? Or do you mean mileage is better with everything off? Our mileage is much better with climate and AC off.

  25. Today I am so proud of our Canadian astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield who has returned safely from six months in space. Crank up your volume and listen to him sing Space Oddity from the space capsule. It brought tears of pride to me.
