  1. JPD that seems to be the closest anyone with a dead battery has come to finding an answer. Your post needs to be highlighted somehow so it doesn't get lost. Thanks for posting your experience.
  2. I agree! I think this issue crops up for many of us in the couple weeks of driving the car. It does warrant a sticky.
  3. Bill I noticed the lack of panic button awhile back and was surprised. I found having one on my last car's key fob was very reassuring when walking to the car at night.

Welcome Hans. We also have an Ice Storm and have had her for 3 months almost and love the car. My big tips are: Always looks closely on the dash for Ready to Drive, before attempting to put the car in gear. It is very easy to think you are ready to go when you are actually in accessory mode instead. We have had no problems with MFT or navigation and I believe in part that is due to pushing buttons slowly and letting the system have time to process. E.G. you may think you have the black screen of death at some point when you start to back up and find you don't see the camera. Very shortly in all likelihood you will see it is doing a systems update and in about two to three minutes all will be back to normal. Don't start pushing buttons frantically. My husband and I have both learned that if you are too fast fingered with entries, voice commands etc. it is very easy to cause the system to act wonky. Go slowly and speak slowly and don't be pushing every button going. If need be, you can use your voice paddle and say "cancel". Sure the MFT should be quicker and more able to handle things, but we have found slow and steady and we never have troubles. And we have never done a reboot. One other thing, pay attention to which gear you are in as you don't have a light indicating which gear you are in on the console--so you have to look at the dash to ensure what gear you are in. If you have the steering wheel turned in a certain direction it is hard to see on the dash. If you have park assist, keep your foot on the brake at all times. Enjoy your new car and let us know some of your adventures with it. ***This info. comes from a boomer who loves her fountain pen. The young ones here on the forum will have a differing point of view LOL.
  5. Yes Rachel that is a good reminder. I always do that. Can't see that any car washes now days would do damage to your paint.
  6. You're getting great mileage Nick. I see you have the fuelly tag all set up now.
  7. Ours works like a charm too (we have navigation and MFT). We just love the car and the technology --both very reliable so far and we have had our SEL 303A for almost three months. It must make it very difficult for Ford to find the problems when some of us have systems that work well and some have lemons.
  8. Scarlett how far away are they? Those rail cars seem to creep along like turtles. Southern charm will do it every time!
  9. Sprouts as in brussel sprouts?
  10. No, I never thought of doing that. All seems well without doing it.
  11. I have done park assist a few times now, and it was only the first couple of times that it was scary. But Valkraider is correct in that it wouldn't work well in a high traffic area as the park assist guidance has you pulling way forward so you look like you are passing up the available space. Thus traffic coming behind you doesn't know what you are doing and you can't back up because they are right behind you. That aspect is a pain in the butt.
  12. I go through the drive through washes and Tip is sweet and clean. We have lots of space to hand wash, but I am too lazy unless it is a hot sunny day (which won't be happening anytime soon).
  13. Services are different for Canada. We don't get Vehicle Health Reports via Sync. We don't get Travel Link (we pick up a little via Bellingham), no fuel prices etc here. So Sirius isn't a real value to us.
  14. Rachel you know we're pulling your leg--right?? Only the good eggs get teased mercilessly eh?
  15. I'm with you Scooter. I've heard that Louisiana Cajun gals don't have much gumption! I'll bet her a dozen beignets that she doesn't call.
  16. Drats Scooter! We had a woman salesperson at first and then she went to a different company. She would have done it in a minute. So I guess you are right that our Southern Belle will need to put on her big girl pants and get tough LOL. I found it a lot of fun tracking mine on the train and she is missing out on the fun.
  17. Scooter she is too much of a southern lady to bug them. I just looked at my old report and it was emailed in a pdf and it is called a full visibility report and it had the rail car number on one of the lines in the report. It took my salesman 10 minutes to fulfill my request and email over to me. They are causing her to miss all the fun of following the car as it creeps from one town to the next. Gee I wish I had a good friendly salesman and then I would get him to do it. Mine isn't the type to do it. What about yours Scooter? Would he pull Rachel's and her dad's reports if you gave him the VINS. Anyone out there chummy with their salesperson who would do this?
  18. I use the grade assist all of the time. For example if I am going down a 6 block hill and I am traveling at 60 kilometers per hour, it basically keeps me at 60 versus going up to 70 or 75. I am no car wiz but it does regenerate my battery while doing it. And I am like your wife and have left it on at least once or twice by accident and I did not see any impact on my mileage--I do pulse and glide and watch my empower and it did not seem to affect me going into EV went I forgot to turn the hill assist off. But some of the real driving technicians on the forum may shriek in horror at my conclusions LOL.
  19. Mtb9153 when we first got the car, we realized we didn't know the MFT lingo. I went to the MFT site and we made a cheat sheet. Hubby typed out the basic commands and plasticized them and they were our salvation until we got the lingo. You can set up the commands in advanced setting so you don't get that long description of how to get help when you flub up. Now I have the phrasing down really well and don't need the cheat sheet very often. The other day the nav voice was too loud and I had to look that one up i.e. navigation voice softer. Here are samples of my cheat sheets. I guess some people expect it to recognize anything they say without learning the commands, but I don't think that is fair as it would be impossible to program it that way. It honestly doesn't take that must time to learn the lingo. 20. Some of us are very happy with our navigation. Ours works like a charm. Just love it and I never bothered the navigation in our Lexus SUV. This one is very easy and intuitive for me.
  21. Oh geez what a damned shame! We have park assist and I can totally understand how this could happen. We didn't get a demo of park assist either when we bought the car. I took a friend out for a ride in my new C-Max and asked her if she wanted a demo. We found a tight spot on the street and used it. We both had heart palpitations and went into fits of giggles while the steering wheel whirled and moved into the tight spot. Luckily I did have my foot on the brake when we whipped into the parking spot. Maybe we need a sticky about the subject as I could have done the same as you easily.
  22. Thanks Nick! I was optimistic until we went into the dealership yesterday and found out that C-Max's aren't a hot commodity around here. I can't believe the lack of advertising. We do see a nightly C-Max ad in the news hour time slot, but we have never seen one advertised in a newspaper here with other Ford models. So I may have to fire sell them down the road. I would rather pay to ship to them to a person versus paying to ship them back to WeatherTech. So down the road I may advertise them on the forum.
  23. We don't make any fuss over Valentine's Day, but it came to mind today when we walked our little dog Tinker. We live about 3 blocks from an elementary school that is always on our dog walking route. We had gone about a block when we could hear children yelling and shrieking. Got up next to the school and oh my goodness the kids were literally running laps around the school--jackets open, hair soaked from the rain, laughing loudly and chasing one another. Theywere buzzed. Totally different from their usual recess behaviour. We chatted with one the school yard monitors who was looking frazzled. She said "it is the candy that they came to school with and ate in the first 10 minutes, and they haven't even had their Valentine class party yet!" It was rather humourous and shows that kids do get buzzed on sugar. Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
  24. You go Jelly Bean! That is great mileage Adair.
