  1. Your both right. Zhackwyatt is right in that each state does have the right to enforce their own laws. However Riddley is also right in that Officers use the state the car came from as a general guide on whether or not to cite for tint in their respective State. For example Arizona doesn't have tinting laws so generally speaking an office would not cite an Arizona vehicle in CA for tint. However Colorado does have tint laws so a Colorado vehicle in CA might get cited for having limo tint on its side windows. Of course they would be cited for the CA tint vehicle code section and not the Colorado VC section.
  2. I have the SE with the powered liftgate and for awhile it took two presses of the button on the liftgate to open it. One press unlocked it and it would pop out a bit and the second second press got it to lift up. Someone on this board recommended coating the tailgate rubber seals with silicone and that worked for me. Now one press of the tailgate button and it opens and lifts fully.
  3. They've put some effort into Southern California. I've seen TV ads, heard radio commercials and have seen several on the road here.
  4. It's a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. According to the Ford Sync website it doesn't support the text function for my phone.
  5. I was good for several months and then had this same reboot twice in the last week. Weird part is after the last reboot it suddenly recognizes the text messages from my phone which it hadn't in the past.
  6. WingRider You were getting 28mpg on an Escape! The best I could manage on my 4 banger '06 Escape was 22 mpg.
  7. I had this happen too after the first few weeks. The only thing that worked for me was doing a master rest on the MFT system. Unfortunately you also lose all your presets and MFT settings. The upside is after the reset it hasn't happened again.
  8. I stand corrected it was 10 feet not 5 feet. If you feel safe driving 10 feet (about one car length) behind an 18 wheeler go for it. I'll spend the few extra dollars on gas and eliminate the risk.
  9. Drafting is very dangerous and absolutely not worth the risk. Myth Busters did a test and found that the decrease in drag was very very small. They found that to get a noticeable difference in mpg you had to be going freeway speeds and be less than 5 feet from the rear of the truck bumper. Even they had a hard time maintaining that distance at speed in a controlled environment.
  10. Depends on model you have. On my SE with backup sensors and MFT there is no camera and it's beeps only. I think to get the camera you need the SEL with a certain package.
  11. I have MFT because I wanted the built in Nav. However aftermarket dash kits are available for the Focus with SMF but not MFT. I suspect the same will happen with the CMax and those with SMF will be able to use aftermarket radios while those with MFT will not.
  12. But will Mikey like it ;) For those of you old enough to remember the commercial.
  13. Ridiculous. I have no experience driving a hybrid (this is my first) and I get 38 to 39mpg when I don't try and 40 to 42mpg when I do try to be efficient. So maybe there is something wrong with your car and it should be checked by the dealer.
  14. Some projects on this has been posted on the Focus forums. The Focus has similar speakers to the C -Max. Unfortunately it's not an easy job. The speakers are lifted away from the door frame by a plastic surround. But rather than building the surround into the door so it could be reused Ford built it in to the speaker frame. On the Focus forums they had to manually cut out the factory speaker from the surround in order to use the surround with the aftermarket speaker. If I recall right the factory speakers are also riveted in not screwed so you have to drill the rivets out.
  15. Pull the felt cover off and it's easier to see the fuse box. It's held in place by two or three clips. To remove the clips squeeze and pull.
  16. I don't even need it, but where's mine?
  17. Because I don't fold the seats down that often I was thinking about wrapping a piece of black tape around it to keep the belt in the guide.
  18. One more thank you for taking the time to do the detailed write up of the event. It's great to hear that Ford is asking owners what's right and what needs to be improved or fixed. It was also good to hear that the engineers are aware of the battery problem and know that it's the elephant in the room that needs to be solved.
  19. I've seen a platinum white Sel going up and down Ventura Blvd in the San Fernando Valley (Reseda /Encino area) multiple times. Always wondered if it's someone on this board.
  20. I noticed recently that my local dealer has taken all the large 47mpg stickers off the C-Max windshields that they've had on them in the past.
  21. Then again maybe opening and closing the lift gate so many times along with the overhead lights while we loaded things caused the battery drain :-)
  22. That may help explain my one and only battery failure. It occurred on the morning we were leaving for a trip to San Diego. The night before the trip we opened and closed the lift gate probably 15 times as we kept loading things. In the morning dead battery. I jumped it using our Taurus X and haven't had it happen since. That was last December.
  23. These days most factories use real time inventory. If they plan to build 100 cars next week then it's arranged to receive 100 pieces of a specific part this week. That way they don't waste money on large warehouses stocked with parts. The downside is the limited availability of spare parts for dealership repairs. The upside for any company is that if a part gets revised because there was a problem with the original part they're not stuck with thousands of useless parts like in the old days.
  24. ThatAutGuy Just a thought for next time, try using the Costco Auto program. I've bought my last few cars that way. No hassle, the price is predetermined and shown to you on the Costco pricing sheet. You deal directly with the internet Sales Manager. The only thing you have to negotiate is the value of your trade.
