  1. Now that you mention it I did the same thing when it froze both times. We were going somewhere and got lost, I hit the paddle to start setting the destination through voice command and then frozen.
  2. The Sync tool is junk. It had absolutely no effect on my music files. It didn't stop indexing until manually correcting the odd characters.
  3. Valkraider I was having that issue until I saw a thread in the Sync Forum that said it's caused by a odd character in the song names. I check my files and sure enough some songs had odd symbols in their names like $ signs. Once I removed them the index completed and it's not doing it anymore. Of course it took over an hour to check the file names for odd characters. The sad part is my 6 year old Pioneer stereo in my last car could easily handle the same odd characters with no problems.
  4. I had two freezing issues where it just locked up and wouldn't do anything. Both times I had the maps up and showing but was not navigating. Both times had to stop, turn off the car, pop the door, then close it to kill the accessories stay on delay and restart the car to fix it.
  5. Wow! I was pleased when I got to 439 miles on a tank. Now I just feel ashamed that I didn't even reach 500.
  6. I agree. Not that CA gets cold, but when it dropped to the low 40's I cranked the heat. I'll take the 3 to 4 mpg hit rather than be cold.

I've had it happen once also in 4 months. The car is supposed to have a battery saver feature per the manual so I don't believe leaving anything plugged in causes the problem. Unless of course the battery saver feature is what's malfunctioning. Unfortunately it seems to be more prone to happen on the SE models.
  8. Thanks Wamba2K, just ordered one from Amazon.
  9. The side protection is good. When I slid the first sheet of Hardiboard in it scratched the side edge and top surface. The black plastic only covered the top surface and I had to use touch up on the side surface edge. The Ford bumper protector probably would have prevented both problems.
  10. Holy cow 600+ on a tank! Is that on an Energi model. The best I've done on my SE is 490.
  11. Wamba2000 the clear one looks good. Unfortunately for me I scratched the rear bumper loading some Hardibacker in at Lowes right in the middle. I ended up going with the hard black plastic one (to cover the scratch). It fit nicely and is well made. Either one of these should have been standard from Ford. My wife's TaurusX and my previous Escape already had these installed from Ford on the rear bumper and they really do help prevent scratches to the paint on the horizontal surface.
  12. Some dealers who are baffled by why the battery suddenly dies are using the "you left something on or plugged in" suggestion as an easy way out. Mine has died once and I know I didn't leave anything on or a door open. I jumped it myself without going to the Ford dealer and it hasn't happened again. If it does I will take it to the dealer for diagnosis and will not accept that line as an excuse. My counter will be page 75 in the manual: "Battery Saver If the courtesy lamps, dome lamps or headlamps are left on, the battery saver will shut them off 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned off. Accessory Mode Battery Saver for Intelligent Access Keys (If Equipped) If you shut off the engine and leave the ignition in the on or accessory mode, the ignition will shut off after 30 minutes."
  13. What was the item number on the change holder you got? Does it fit nicely in that space or does it rattle around?
  14. It's amazing how biased Consumer Reports can be. I'm averaging 40mpg after 5K miles. So I guess they're right I can't match the V's 41mpg. But seeing as the C-Max has over 40HP more I can live with that :-) As far as interior space the only place where it's better is in the cargo hold where the V has a larger capacity than the C-Max. There are some Ford dealers right now who have V's on their lot for customers to test drive before or after a C-Max test drive. That's how confident they are that customers will see that the C-Max is a better car. I'd like to see a Toyota dealer do that with a C-Max, imo they'd lose a customer when they compared the driving characteristics side by side.
  15. Nice work. I've done similar runs in the same area and have gotten high 40's on a 50 mile trip (118 to 5 near to downtown LA) . It's been a game to break 50 but haven't gotten it yet. Getting close though.
  16. Unfortunately that does appear true :-( On the upside for us SE owners most of the issues with reverse not working and the car being accidentally left on are limited to the SEL owners ;-)
  17. I've never used playlists until MFT. In the past I've always browsed my mp3s by folders. Unfortunately the voice commands don't recognize folders. I've created playlists that match the contents of my favorite folders so that they can be called up as a playlist by the voice command which is really nice when you're driving.
  18. It would be sad if it's #1 because my last three Fords going back to 1998 all had what Ford called the "battery minder" feature. It turned off accessory power if it detected the battery power dropping low enough that the car might not start. Short of a bad battery you couldn't accidentally drain the battery.
  19. Same here wanted 202 ended up with 203. Glad I did though the Nav has come in handy several times even if the MFT can be glitchy sometimes. Plus the power lift gate is nice to have.
  20. Mine went up also compared to the 06 Escape I took off. Not much though $70 more on a six month policy with Wawanesa.
  21. The average on the site seems to be between 34 to 40. I try to keep it at 65mph on the freeway and the speed limit to speed limit +5mph in the city and average about 40mpg. In some trips I exceed 47 while others I'm below. Cold weather will definitely lower numbers but that's something that happens to all hybrids not just the CMax.
  22. Installed my WeatherTech mats this weekend. Very nice job WeatherTech! Did front and second row and all fit perfectly. The second row was especially nice because it has really good coverage which helps when you have small kids.
  23. I have a similar one the SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16MB. It's like $12 on Amazon and is small enough not to get broken. Like someone else mentioned I did tie a string to it to make it easier to pull out.
