    Key Options?

Let me know if you find the blank online because I'd like a third key. I just added a third key to our Taurus X which uses the integrated keyfob key. Bought it on eBay for $32, locksmith cut it for free, and programmed it myself. But I haven't found the blank online yet for the C-Max reverse cut key.

    Key Options?

Funny this is the first combo key I've had and I like it better than a separate key and fob. Seems to take up less space in my pocket. On a side note I asked the dealer today what a replacement key would cost and he said they're laser cut and have to be special ordered at $150 each. Ouch!
  3. I have the same problem in my car with the Sirius TravelLink not working. I've tried the feature for local fuel prices several times and it only worked once. I've never been able to bring up the traffic info. However these features rely on downloaded data from Sirius not Ford so I blame Sirius for it. I'm definitely not renewing the Sirius after the six month trail.
  4. Outstanding write up that will be very useful to anyone else who experience this problem.
  5. Here's my solution to this problem. An ultra compact USB drive that doesn't stick out so it can't be snapped off. They also make a 32gig version for $24. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005FYNSZA/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1353350923&sr=8-1&pi=SL75
  6. If I recall correctly you can show temp as one of the views for My View on the left screen. Don't think there was an option for oil pressure though.
  7. There have been a few reports on this forum of issues with the car suddenly not starting. Typically the solution was to replace the regular 12V battery (not the high voltage hybrid battery). It sounds like Ford is getting a few bad batteries in the bunch. I don't have an answer for the brake light though that's the first reference I've seen on this forum for that issue. Like others mentioned small quirks can occur in any new car. Give the dealership a chance to make it right. My 2006 Escape lost all power and turned off on me at 2000 miles and had to be towed to the dealership. Turned out to be a bad alternator. Ford replaced the alternator and I drove it to 101,000 with no other problems before selling it to buy my C-Max.
  8. I've purchased these online plans before and there is only one issue that may arise. First off this is the official Ford warranty and will be honored at any dealership. The only downside is if you sell the car early you can in theory cancel the warranty and get a partial refund. However its almost impossible to cancel the online warranty because it has to be canceled at the dealership who sold it. In my experience they make it difficult to cancel the warranty if you sell the vehicle early. With a local dealership you can go in directly and bug them until they cancel it.
  9. My favorite is the reviewer who said the C-Max looked like a potato. With the big open face grill on the front we jokingly refer to my car as the screaming potato :-)
  10. This company offers a product to do this but I don't know if it's compatible with the C-Max yet and it's not cheap at $500. http://navtv.com/product/167/allsync-xg.html?forceShowProduct=1 I've just learned to use the voice commands to set the navigation while driving. It takes a little practice but after some trial and error you get good at it.
  11. It makes me laught how the auto journalists don't know what to call the C-Max. I've seen it referred to as a tall Focus, high roofed sedan, micro-van, van, wagon, cross over wagon, cross over suv, etc. Though I am shocked that Consumer Reports gave it an overall positive review. They've always been very critical of Ford and particularly the MyFord Touch system. All I know is that after almost two months and 2600 miles I still love this car! Gas mileage has been creeping up and is now averaging 41.5mpg.
  12. I bought my SE through the Costco program. It was very straight forward invoice cost + $300. Unfortuantely Ford also tacks on an advertising fee of $389 (varies by region) and a tank of gas for around $55. With the Costco program you deal directly with the internet salesman (usually a salaried person not commission) and there's no salesman b.s.
  13. On the SEL models it's a line of chrome along the bottom edge of the windows on both sides.
  14. SEL paperwork lists that but both SE and SEL have the piano black grill. The only external differences are the fog lights on the SEL and the chrome belt line across the side instead of black.
  15. Here's one on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002Z600DY/ref=s9_simh_awgw_d0_g263_i2/180-9783506-3972139?aid=aw_gw&apid=1353730462&arc=1201&arid=1JFGZVY957KEXTJ0Q3C7&asn=center-6&pf_rd_i=aw_gw&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=1353730462&pf_rd_r=1JFGZVY957KEXTJ0Q3C7&pf_rd_s=center-6&pf_rd_t=1201
  16. You can always replace your rear view mirror with an auto dimming mirror with integrated Homelink for the garage door. I posted directions on this forum of how to do it. The mirror will run you about $200.
  17. One last comment for the navigation enable radios. The maps on the navigation enabled radios are done by NavTeq (they do the maps for several auto makers). Traditionally NavTeq map updates are specific for each manufacturer and must be purchased through them. For Ford those updates run $200 and are usually released once per year. http://ford.navmapupdates.com
  18. There are two parts to Sync which was developed by Microsoft. 1. The first part is the "Sync Voice Commands" to request things like changing to a USB or FM audio source. All C-Max vehicles have the voice activated feature and there's no subscription required to use this. 2. The second part is the "Sync Services" that allow you to connect to Microsoft's Sync servers (via your bluetooth connected cell phone). You connect in order to request travel directions, movie listings, weather updates or even talk to a live person for specific requests. When you use "Sync Services" you phone will dial and connect to Microsoft's Sync servers and your requests are processed by their servers (like Apple servers process Siri commands). Answers are sent back to your vehicle through your phone and heard over the stereo speakers. "Sync Services" cost $60/year or is incluced with certain package configurations for the first three years. Without the subscription you can still use the "Sync Voice Commands" but the "Services" command would no longer work. C-Max Radio Options There are three available radios in the C-Max. There's the SE standard radio with hard buttons, the MyTouch radio which has the 8" touch screen (SE/SEL) and the Sony Radio with the 8" touch screen (SEL option). All three radios can use "Sync Voice Commands" and "Sync Services". You can add the navigation option to either 8" touch screen radio but only if orderd from the factory that way. Radio and Sync Integration If you have the standard wing shaped radio on the SE or either touch screen radio without navigation the "Sync Services" is a worthwhile subscription because it will give you navigation via the voice commands. However there are limitations to this option. For example if you make a wrong turn the system has to redial into the Sync servers to get the new directions based on your current location and then redownload those voice guidance directions to your car. If you have the navigation enabled touch screen radios you can still request directions through Sync but rather than voicing the directoins to you it plugs the information in the navigation system and starts guidance. For the navigation enabled radios using "Sync Services" navigation feature is redundant to just using "Sync Voice Commands" to request a POI search from the radio's navagation database stored on the SD card. Regardless of the radio you have the subscription based "Sync Services" can be a useful option when traveling if you don't have a smart phone. However if you have a smart phone it's probably not worth the $60/year subscription because you can do the same types of searches (looking up directions, movie listings, weather updates, business searches, etc) directly on your smart phone.
  19. Dealerships are independently owned and their service centers can be night and day in quality regardless of whether it's a Ford dealership or any other brand. It took multiple bad experiences with my local Ford dealership's service center before I started going to the neighboring city's Ford dealership. When the better dealership starting fixing things my local dealership couldn't figure out I asked the mechanic about the difference. His response was that because they're a larger dealership with a bigger service center their mechanics specialize (i.e. he was the transmission guy). He said at smaller dealerships the same guy has to do more (transmissions, a/c, engine, etc) so they never get really good with a specific component. He also said the smaller service centers have higher turn over and less experienced mechanics. Long story short that dealership sucks, not Ford. Find a different one who's happy to have your business.
  20. I suspect the situation will be similar to what's happened to the Prius where a secondary market has developed with reasonably priced used batteries from salvaged vehicles. When a vehicle gets totaled every usable part (including the battery) is salvaged for resale.
  21. I've found the car lights up like a Christmas tree when you open the door giving you plenty of light to see the key hole.
  22. In my experience if you've done modest research into a vehicle you typically know more than the salesman. I don't know why it kills them to just say I'm not sure but if I can get your phone number or email address I'll research it and let you know. That way they get you a correct answer and get your call back info to follow up on your interest in the vehicle.
  23. Increase the maxiumum photo storage space available and the size limit for photos that can be uploaded. I'm a big fan of posting pictures and detailed explanations for upgrade projects like the one I did for the auto dimming mirror installation.
  24. Found it, it's in the first paragraph: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/429-4000-mile-trip-in-my-new-c-max/
