Someone else on this Forum mentioned the same error though I can't remember who. They said they took it to the dealer and the dealer couldn't find anything wrong.

There's our answer no DVD player for any C-Max. :nonono:

Here's the direct link to the company's website that makes the black plastic one for $40 + shipping: http://www.zetaproducts.net/Rear-Bumper-Protector-Fits-2013-Ford-C-Max.aspx There's also the official Ford one for $75 which looks like heavy 3M clear plastic. However you can't seem to order it yet and they don't have a listed part number. http://accessories.ford.com/vehicles/c-max/2013/exterior.html

Hands-Free install after purchase?
dtorres replied to CrystalSC's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Currently there is no add-on kit from Ford for it and I doubt there will be. You can get the power liftgate with the SE that allows you to open the hatch with the remote. -
Manual says use 87, I've been using 87.
-
I have the power lift gate (without the hands free) which you open by pressing the button or keyfob. I've occasionally had this issue but only when opening using the external button. Always seems to open right if I use the key fob or button on the dash.

New buyers think carefully about what model you order
dtorres replied to Laurel's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
On the SE model you only have the lift gate button if you got the power lift gate option. -
You can only get the Sony system on the SEL, and I believe it says Sony on the dash.
-
You can get navigation in two forms. The MyFord Touch system with 8" screen and nav which has CD player (option on SE only). Or you can get nav with the Sony upgraded audio system (option on the SEL only). It's possible that Sony used a DVD player instead of a CD player in their system and only those units can play DVDs. Can anyone with the upgraded Sony system verify this?

Audio quality of rear speakers?
dtorres replied to StoBro2's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Been driving Fords for years and the factory speakers have always been junk. On an '04 Sport Trac I owned I spent an extra $600 for the upgraded Audiophile system and it still stunk. Turned out the $600 bought me a tiny external amp and better front door speakers, the rears were the usual junk. Replacing the factory speakers is high on my list with all my new cars. Unfortunately from looking at some Focus forums Ford integrated the door speakers into the mounting bracket so changing them is not easy without cutting up the old speaker to reuse the bracket portion. So I'm to patiently wait for the aftermarket speaker brackets to become available. -
Weird fan noise from engine compartment at start up
dtorres replied to dtorres's topic in General Discussion
I suspect you're right that it's some kind of fan or pump and that normally you'd never hear it because of a gas motor. I'm just curious why it's linked to turning the A/C on and off. This morning I didn't hear it and noticed that I had left the A/C turned off last night (the climate control system was set to Auto and there was still air blowing through the vents). I hit the A/C button and the buzzing noise immediately started. Hit the A/C button and noise went away. It's not that big of a deal, I was just curious if it was normal. On a regular car I'd assume the sound was a bad A/C compressor or compressor pully. But on this car there are no pulleys or belts only electrically controlled pumps and compressors. -
I've monitored a few of the above listed forums, but this seems to be the most active and pretty much the only one I use anymore.

Weird fan noise from engine compartment at start up
dtorres replied to dtorres's topic in General Discussion
That's the noise I'm talking about! If you open a door there's a separate buzz noise but it's short less than 10 seconds. It's the electric chainsaw buzzing noise after starting the car. Funny thing is I never noticed it either until my wife used the car and was backing out of the garage while I was nearby. Next time I used the car I rolled down the window and could hear it. Next cold start try rolling down the window and after it starts press the A/C button until it reads A/C off and it goes away. -
I use NuFinish because Consumer Reports did tests and recommended it (granted that was probably 15 years ago). I'm sure there's better waxes out there now but I've used it for so long it's just habit now. I try to wax the cars 2 or 3 times per year.
-
I second on the waxing. My C-Max looked good when I picked it up but after two washes it didn't feel smooth. I think the dealerships do a wash and a quick spray wax to make it look nice but that's not a substitute for a full wax. I waxed mine with just a standard wax and it was night and day. Water now beads on the paint and contaminants aren't sticking to the paint as easily.

I've had one instance where the clock was wrong but I don't recall if it was the time I had turned the car off at. The clock not keeping accurate time has popped up on other MyFord Touch forums also. At about a week and half into ownership I had the clock issue, bluetooth issues and preset names disappearing. I went into the settings option and did a master reset from the touch screen and everything has worked perfectly ever since (about four weeks). I did have to reprogram all my presets and resync my phone after the reset so you may want to take notes on your presets before doing the master reset.

O.k., it sounds like it's normal than so no need to waste a trip to the dealership. -
Key Stuck in Ignition Problems?
dtorres replied to JayCo59's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
After over four weeks of ownership I haven't had any problems as described with the key. -
Has anyone noticed a weird and loud fan noise from the engine compartment on startup after the vehicle has been sitting for a while. I've noticed it in the morning and after work after the vehicle has been off for quite awhile. There's a noise that can best be described as a computer case fan going bad. As if there's a fan with bad bearings. I've also noticed if I hit the A/C button so it reads A/C off the noise goes away. Hit the button again (A/C reads on) and the noise is back. Goes away after about 5 minutes of driving and doesn't occur if the vehicle was recently driven and is already warmed up.

Ran across a rear bumper scuff protector for the C-Max on eBay. We have something similar on our Taurus X and it really keeps the paint on the bumper from getting scuffed up. A little high on the price though for what it is. http://tinyurl.com/c5yuc3e

There have been similar complaints on the 2013 Escape forums particularly involving the rear hatch. It seems like Ford needs to put a little more effort in checking the fit and finish of their vehicles before they leave the factory. While I don't disagree with the service advisor that American cars has never placed as high a value on fit and finish as say German manufacturers it's sad that the advisor would use that as an excuse not to repair the vehicle to your satisfaction. I've been a long time Ford owner and in my experience the service centers at dealerships can be night and day in how they treat their customers. You might want to try another dealership since they'll all honor your bumper to bumper warranty. I go out of my way to the neighboring city's Ford dealership because of multiple experiences I've had with my local dealer and the low attention to detail by their repair guys.

Go back to your dealer. They come with all vehicles shipped to states that require them. Though my understanding is that they're put inside the vehicle and the dealer mounts it after arrival to the lot.

Sync Freeze Issues (Navigation)
dtorres replied to seattlerain's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I noticed you both have SEL models. Do you have the Sony sound system and Nav. I have the SE with the regular MyFord Touch (non Sony) and nav and haven't had this problem. I have noticed though that sometimes if I start my drive in a multi level parking lot where the GPS can't get a signal it can take 15 to 20 minutes after leaving the parking structure before it picks up my correct location on the map. -

As far as I've seen there are two commercials like the one above based on the La Linea character and they've done one West Coast press event. They need to step it up a notch if they want people to learn about this vehicle and why they should choose it over a Prius. They've also done a series of 3 minute shorts called the Hybrid games but they're online only and boring to watch.
