  1. Yep, the whole reason we looked at the CMax was that my 6'2" son couldn't sit in the back of a Volt or Prius.
  2. The external temp sensor is in the passenger side mirror, at least on earlier models, and there have been reports of rain and ice getting in there and screwing up the readings. Get the dealer to blow it out with air, look for water inside, etc.
  3. re: John Hiatt: No, but from a brief look at his work, I ought to be. Why do you ask?
  4. The 12v battery doesn't so anything except pull the relays allowing power out of the HVB. Everything else runs off the HVB, so nothing is apparent until it can't supply enough current to pull those relays.
  5. Just adding complexities, earlier CMaxes (like my 2013 Energi) don't have ECO Mode at all, just ECO Cruise...
  6. My Energi in Eco Cruise tries *really* hard to limit acceleration to two bars.
  7. I've had the nav on my Energi get confused a couple of times, usually associated with a sharp turn under power, and going fast. The worst case was that it completely missed a highway interchange transition and tracked the westbound highway until I turned off the northbound highway, about ten miles later. Being a software developer, I'm guessing that it's trying to follow the highway (like it will through a tunnel) and the dead reckoning overrides the actual GPS report for too long.
  8. I'm sorely tempted. I currently have a C-Max Energi, and I have the benefit of a free charger at work and at numerous restaurants in the area. I expect the work charger but not the public ones to be free forever, but even my home charger works out to the equivalent of $1.75/gal gas.
  9. Looks like they broke the rear passenger-side window and opened the door.
  10. Good idea! My wife does NOT like to drive my C-Max, but her range anxiety is why we didn't buy a Leaf!
  11. Well, if you want to clean your brakes, how else? You can do multiple hard stops, but that tends to upset those behind you, far more than braking down a hill. ;-)
  12. Wow. Having written software that attempts to track a similar set of events, I can understand a bug after you do that long and (admit it!) rather unlikely sequence... Good detective work!
  13. Since regen is turned off when in N, you can shift to N at the top of a hill and glide down with gentle brakes. That should scrub off the rust.
  14. Ah, but the active cooling systems required by the larger batteries start to get complicated all over again.
  15. Many years ago, somebody in front of me lost their left rear wheel, and I managed to run over a brake shoe with *both* of my left tires. Of course, I only had one spare!
