  1. Thanks for the updates! We all want to hear how it's going.
  2. I can confirm; I have to use D for the first half-mile or so or I get engine braking before I leave the driveway.
  3. I suspect that the keyless entry works via near-field signalling (like a card you tap or wave rather than insert somewhere), rather than the fob broadcasting anything, but it may be amplified by the fob's battery (guessing). It *may* have a different voltage threshhold before it works properly. Guessing! I'm a software guy who does little bits of electronics as part hobby work.
  4. Yes, mine was behaving like that as well, the fob button range got progressively smaller, and then the door-handle unlock started failing, etc. Replace the battery, it's easy.
  5. I drive my Energi mostly one-pedal, so my brakes look *horrible*. I have to carefully pick where I got for inspections. A friend's BMW i3 has the same problem, but his Tesla doesn't. We joke that they must polish them or something like that.
  6. My local dealership broke the door-handle sensing when they did the door-latch recall fix. They corrected it at no cost to me (as they should), so if your door quit working when they fixed the latch, you might be able to get that done for free. It's been a while, though, so it may be a tough sell.
  7. Your CMax is newer than mine, so the screen is different, but that kinda looks like it scrolled horizontally. Tap the left end (in the above, the "s") and see if it scrolls back over.
  8. Thanks! Sounds like the manual is indeed Just Plain Wrong. I'll give it a shot on the next warm day!
  9. I bought the bulb (well, pkg of two) to replace my turn signal lamp, but the instructions in the owner's manual to install it makes no sense. It says to pull the headlight assembly toward the center of the car, but it doesn't want to go that way, only a little ways out. Does the black inner part come away from the clear outer part? Is there some snap to pry off that I didn't see? Thanks! Dennis
  10. I'm a happy 2013 Energi owner, and the theorizing around here is that electric motor has quicker acceleration than the gas engine (much less mass to spin, magnetic fields move at lightspeed as opposed to the slower chemical reaction of burning fossils pushing pistons to spin the crankshaft, etc), so it comes up first, then they reach some sort of equilibrium with both contributing. In general, a gas engine is at its least efficient when accelerating, so it makes sense for the electric to contribute as much as is practical.
  11. My 2013 is also very comfortable, many all-day trips. I had to adjust the seat for the correct thigh support, but it's great.
  12. Sounds like the battery isn't charged; what's the SoC on the dashboard display?
  13. I don't know about newer CMaxes or hybrids, but I drive my 2013 Energi in L and routinely get 20-30% regen on an EV-only trip.
  14. Audi has gone the "battery safety and lifetime" route, with very active thermal controls, at the cost of range.
  15. My 2013 doesn't have front sensors or the dash button, it does have rear sensors and a backup camera. It shows a button in the left-hand screen when backing up.
  16. My fuel pump is pretty loud, but that's only running when the ICE is on.
  17. On my 2013 the "Parking aid" button only shows up when you put it in reverse.
  18. Yeah I have to park out of fob range because I would occasionally come back to my car and find the windows all open. Once in a rainstorm!
  19. So, to summarize: the software should either keep the engine turning in its most efficient regime, or shut it off, and we know how to do this. If efficiency generates more torque than needed to turn the wheels, store the excess juice in the battery.
  20. Mine was rather foggy when I bought the car used, I might guess it was from sun exposure, but I have no way of knowing.
