I wonder if the EPA cares about tow tunes for the 6.0 F250? You can order them with NO engine software changes. Just transmission changes. Torque converter lockup etc. usually good for a point 5 mpg increase, cooler longer transmission life, less downshifting.... Back on topic I would think/hope a tune for the C-Max to allow user control of the HV battery would be EPA OK???

OH NO... our's was built on a Monday. 1300 happy miles, 2 problems cmax can't see my size 13 but will open for my wife's 9. (ouch :hysterical: she saw what I typed) AND a head down person at Ford who doesn't know what "automatic dual zone" means.

Back on topic. A turner could reprogram the car to "use the full battery range all the time." I totally agree " Emissions are more import to me than FE" I've always wondered what reaction you would get from the EPA if they measured a whole gallon as opposed to a sniff, what if my car burns just a tiny bit dirtier than your car but my car went 5 miles farther than yours, carry it a couple more steps. I burn a 10 gal tank and go 50 miles farther than you. After 10 tanks you're on you're 11th, whose car is cleaner?

With the EPA mandated demise of the diesel programmer/chip I wonder how long till Co's like Edge, Superchips, etc turn their attention to hybrids. I've been looking, haven't found anything yet. Googled "chip for C-Max" sent me to Europe for a diesel C-max chip. There has to be a huge amount of room for improvement...program to maximize Highway mpg, program to maximize in-town MPG... hhmm I wonder what class the C-Max is in at the local drag strip? wab

Better Hurry! http://green.autoblog.com/2012/01/03/republican-congressman-calls-for-end-of-7-500-plug-in-vehicle-t/ "On December 30th, Kelly introduced H.R. 3768, which seeks "To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the credit for plug-in electric drive vehicles." "Amending" in this case simply mean to eliminate the up to $7,500 tax credit that the Code currently offers to people who buy a plug-in car. The highest rate comes from vehicles like the Volt that have a battery that's at least 16 kWh, but even the Toyota Prius Plug-In, with its 4.4-kWh pack, would offer buyers $2,500 back. H.R. 3768 would take this all away, and plug-in vehicles have already just lost three federal tax incentives."

We don't dial, push or call we text. Sometimes we do touch their picture so we can talk to them. Or pull a lever and say "Call sweetums". But we do still roll and "crack the window just a little".

OUCH on that $4.12 I filled yesterday $3.44 on the pump, $3.38 with my WalMart discount. I told my wife not to get to excited about less than $3.50... :rant2: we were at less than $3.00 a few months ago. :rant2: speculators :rant2: most of them live in New York, don't own a car and ride an electric train :rant2:

Your graph is very informative...thanks. Speaking of the owner's manual, most C-Maxes will be well past the breakin period by the time pg 528 is read. "ABOUT THIS MANUAL Thank you for choosing Ford. We recommend that you take some time to get to know your vehicle by reading this manual. The more that you know about it, the greater the safety and pleasure you will get from driving it." Maufactures need to start publishing a "User's Manual" with the Owner's Manual. . Do this . Do this . Don't do this . Don't do this

Maybe, it would give the Odyssey some competition

zhackwyatt This may not be relevant but I noticed most dead battery reports also say something like " i hold my breath every time i go to the garage til i see i click the fob and see lights." We never lock our car in the garage, have 1300 miles and NO battery problems. Heck for the first week I didn't even lock it while shopping, finally got used to the keyless system. I wounder if there are any non-lockers that have found their battery dead? wab

I've wondered about that. 40+ yrs ago for my first NEW car (69 Chevel SS) I was thought to vary the engine speed for the first 500 miles, NO cruise control AT ALL (this came later in 74 in the owners manual). Second 500 same as first but with a few full throttle blasts of a few (couple) of seconds and drop the transmission down a gear while stopping. I've shifted (changed the transmission ratio) in the CVT by shifting to the L position and pushing that little button on the shifter... started to call it over-drive but then I would have to edit the ;) edit. Third 500 safe to use cruise control, but go to full throttle for longer periods, as long as you can stand it or till you see red lights behind you. Like the book says COMPLETELY ignore MPG for the first 1K miles! I've always had very good luck with this method, good HP, good MPG, zero oil user for many K miles. wab

I didn't know I had automatic wipers!
wab replied to osiebosie's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
I'm sure it's cheaper to build them this way. SO What is the camera for??? I'll probably pull the fuse or try to remember to clean the window before backing. We spend 1/2 our time at the end of a 11 mile gravel rd, ALWAYS gritty sand on the window, which will scratch it. wab -
Recreational Towing (behind a motor home)
wab replied to jmckinley's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I'm finally getting  ready to modify ours for towing. "since the owners manual does not address the push button start." I'm going to guess that you don't step on the brake just push the button THEN step on the brake and shift to neutral Make sure everything that can be turned off is off ??? Any help and bumps in the road you could help us avoid would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure we'll use the Blue Ox baseplate. wab -
I couldn't find one on Amazon or ebay, they should have them soon. The glass should be easy to get off to check for a loose connection. I copied this from a thread on the Edge forum, go to post # 124 pg 7. Thanks Jaak in TO http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/2759-integrated-blind-spot-mirrors/ The C-Max glass probably comes off the same way. "1. move the mirror body so that the mirror faces 90 degrees outwards from the vehicle. 2. Tilt the mirror so it faces downwards and towards the vehicle. 3. Use a standard width flat head screwdriver with a long shaft & a small flashlight. Look for a shallow slot on the outboard side where the mirror meets the motor that has two tabs, one on either side of the "slot". Place the screwdriver in this "slot" and twist it as if you are opening a "paint can". Wiggle it as you twist and you will notice the two halfs start to separate. Move the mirror slightly till you see the inboard slot. Repeat the same proceedure. Make sure you have a towel handy as the mirror will start to fall down. 4. The mirror should slide out with ease. Disconnect the two heated mirror leads from the mirror. This may be a bit tough as they are a tight fit. 5. Take the new mirror and connect the two heated mirror leads and connect it to the mirror leads. You may have to push it in a bit ... but not too hard. It will slide up the connector completely. 6. With a towel placed over the mirror, add a bit of force to get the mirror to seat in the motor housing. Use a rotating action (as listed earlier in this thread!) to seat the mirror. Make sure it is in. You may want to spend a bit of time doing this 7. With your hand & towel near the mirror give the mirror body a smack to ensure the mirror is set in place. First time mine was not properly seated and it popped out. The heated mirror power leads stopped if from falling to the floor." wab

Recreational Towing (behind a motor home)
wab replied to jmckinley's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
RV'ers are very passionate  about our hobby\life style. Of all the forums (rv, motorcycle, car) I belong to I see more over the top :rant2:  :yahoo: :runaway: from RV owners. One gentleman wasn't going to be satisfied with a buyback... he was going to start a class-action lawsuit. Someone pointed out that a class-action probably required more than .1% of the owners have the same problem. One lady literally replies to EVERY post. She currently has over 13 THOUSAND (averaging over 2K per yr) posts AND she still had time to pull her 5th wheel from the east to the west coast by herself. -
The last 6 or 7 cars we've had have tried to calculate MPG, NONE were successful. ALL reported better mpg than I hand calculate, and I hand calculate every time and keep a log. I've seen the statement on other forums that "you cannot fill the gas tank to the exact same point every time even if you use the same pump every time as there are too many variables." Which means that some of the time you'll put less gas in than the car says you used. But my logs show that about 1 out of 10 fills show the same mpg as the car reports. AND about 1 out of 10 fills show higher mpg than the car reports. The other 8 show less mpg than the car reports.

Maybe it's what's between his ears :baby: and not between his feet and head? My new personal LOW mpg. BUT I'm in the last phase of breaking in the motor (ICE). FULL THROTLE

I would be offended if I were SnowStorm  . I'm trying to figure out how to block his rants. I know you can do it just haven't found it YET. I did give him 1 * wab

Yes it can be turned back on and it will stay on until 2 minutes after you REstart the car. The 2nd start is/was what is confusing the tech. I think I need to work on my communication skills, I'm practicing on this board  . Get in the car to go to a ball game. Start car. Dual zone is on 2 minutes later it goes off Turn dual zone back on Dual zone stays on whole trip After game, get in car Start car Dual zone is on 2 minutes later it goes off Turn dual zone back on Dual zone stays on whole trip etc etc wab

New buyers think carefully about what model you order
wab replied to Laurel's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
It's called Adaptive Cruise Control and should be available when the Titanium gets here. Along with power passenger seat, HID headlights, led's etc. -
Most people don't know that Ford and all auto manufacture have a core business. And that core business is box building. If they can get the motor to prematurely wear out, they get to sell another box eerr car.

I guess that explains why all the Nokia phones work AND nav doesn't.

Update #2 The service writer took a ride and saw it happen. They did a master reset. Called me to say it's fixed I started the car dual zone doesn't even stay on 2 minutes now. I think they finally understand. If anyone has these symptoms or different please let me know, they have called Ford about this. My symptoms are. 1. start car, turn on dual zone, ...., turn car off. 2. return to car and restart, dual zone IS ON for 2 minutes then shuts off. Our car was dealer swapped, they may have installed remote start and removed it when it was swapped. I'm going to call tomorrow and offer this info... thanks zhackwyatt wab

Who does Ford partner with for NAV? And why isn't it Microsoft? I've used Microsoft Streets and Trips on a Toshiba netbook for yrs, $35 update every other year. AND IT WORKS ;)

That's always the best answer, "One less Big Mac a week." I hear they may make Danica wear lead weights.
