  1. Just got a letter from Ford offering to sell me the new A9/B9 Map Update release for only $149 with, wait for it, free shipping! With free nav apps available these updates are worth about $19.95. Sorry Ford et.al. - get with the new reality - I will never buy an update at your ridiculous price!
  2. RIP. Plan to keep ours for in-town driving which it is perfect for. May never replace it if it can last another 20 years, about my expiration date.
  3. I just learned about this cancelling of the VHR from my State Farm agent - no email from Ford! State Farm was using it to report miles driven for the low-mileage rate I'm on. Now, I assume, I'll have to drive by their office or do something else for this rate (will be calling them). I always thought the report was rather useless, but are they continuing it for in-car display?
  4. Update - my long-term Service Advisor called today and said they DID have the replacement parts in stock and to bring it in. They're keeping it overnight and will finish tomorrow. I'm getting an oil change too and he called and said I was due for a cabin filter change and I took great pleasure in telling him that's the last auto maintenance item that I still do myself!
  5. Got another postcard from Ford on this recall a week ago. Called dealer and they said parts weren't available and I would get a card from Ford when they are. Maybe on the 1 year anniversary of the the recall?
  6. That link returned an error when using Firefox but worked with Chrome, showing my 2013 as running SYNC 2 - v3.8, updated in 2015.
  7. Coming soon. And an Energi specific feature. http://www.pcmag.com/news/351371/ford-makes-old-vehicles-more-intelligent-with-smartlink
  8. My Energi is now nearly 4 years old. After getting the Nav module replaced within a month of buying it (my YouTube video of that problem has over 10,000 views) the navigation has worked flawlessly until last night. I drove 10 miles with it working fine, and upon starting the return trip it started fine, and I adjusted the zoom a couple of times, then within a few blocks the location shown started to drift off, with the direction of the car also not correct. Eventually the location shown was 1-3 miles from my true location. The odd thing was the car was shown on actual streets but not moving in the same direction, unlike my original problem which had the car shown 100-200' feet from its true location. After getting home I shut off the car and restarted, but it still showed my location as several miles away. So, has anyone seen this problem? Is there any reboot procedure for the Navigation that might fix it? If its the module again, how much does Ford charge to replace it? UPDATE: I just started the car after it sitting all night and the navigation is showing the correct location. I will drive it today and see if it acts up again, but let's all hope it was just a Russian hack of the GPS system last night! UPDATE 2: Drove around with no GPS problems today. That was a pretty weird event. Thanks for the cost info. I would probably try to do a DIY if it were a permanent problem.
  9. Got my letter today too. Will keep some bungee cords and duct tape around if a latch breaks between now the June (guess) 2017 arrival of the parts.
  10. If you haven't already, you may want to post this question on the Energi forum.
  11. Re-visit your decision as the forum is working. Link test to the Energi version: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=viewNewContent&search_app=forums Running Win10 and FireFox.
  12. Yes, the area under the hitch receiver is dead to the kick action as would be expected, but on either side it works due to the design of the EcoHitch. Also moving a hand under the bumper while say installing a hitch pin will activate the opener as I confirmed today.
  13. I don't know how low it can be programmed but it's really not a big problem to avoid the kick zones when using the rack. I just padded the vertical bar and if it accidentally opens it just hits the pad and stops with no damage. This was the kick zone I measured. Don't recall if the center still worked but will test today as I'm loading the bikes on.
  14. Here's my post on the Energi forum of testing the kick zones and link to the Ford diagram of sensor locations. http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/topic/3072-no-liftgate-sensor-after-torklift-installation/?p=23938 The Torklift hitch doesn't cover the sensor. I believe I triggered the door when installing the hitch pin and/or struggling to get a bike loaded.
  15. The Torklift doesn't - there are multiple sensors. And thus rhe foam padding on the vertical arm of my bike rack! Hint: Never install the hitch or load bikes with the key in your pocket!
  16. Every time we take our bikes somewhere! You just use the control on the steering wheel to shut off the alarm for that trip. No big deal other than having to do it every time.
  17. From the 2013 C-Max manual, page 335 :
  18. That's the video I made. Last time I looked it had over 10,000 views. Looking at it now I should have used the other viewing mode where the map is not fixed with north being at the top, but I think it makes the point. After getting the module replaced the problem was instantly gone, and has not reappeared in the three years since then - even with the old mapping software!
  19. Wow! Ford seems just not interested in keeping their software up-to-date it would seem. I recommend the DIY approach, although the update is perhaps not important enough to bother. (I did it.)
  20. Thanks all. I'll be Amazon Priming (5 for $5.99) these today: C-Max manual pg 60: "The remote control uses one coin-type three-volt lithium battery CR2032 or equivalent."
  21. I'm coming up on 3 years and noticed the handle unlock feature is requiring us to have the fob within a few inches of the door. I'm guessing the battery is getting low. How long do they last, or what else might be causing this problem. Three more weeks of warranty!
  22. I never got the 3.8 update notice but installed it anyway. I then uploaded the resulting XML file and it shows up. So Ford "knows" I did it but may also know it was without their help.
  23. I am having a problem uploading the XML file at the end of the process - I guess because I am using firefox on Linux - I browse for and select the XML file but then nothing happens. This happened last time I updated MFT as well - Can't remember how I resolved it last time..maybe I borrowed a windows PC or the "reminder" Email had a different link in it. It doesn't like Firefox, as I found out. Use a different browser.
