  1. I did 35% front, 5% back, and are very satisfied in the Arizona heat and for the privacy.
  2. My mileage is at 9,980 and with months to go before my first oil change in my Energi I decided to rotate the tires myself today. The temperature finally being below 80F in the morning helped with the decision. It took about 30 minutes, with about another 10 in cleaning the rust off the hubs. I have a floor jack and used the method of raising the entire side from the front jack position. My jack had just enough reach to just get the rear tire off the ground. I used the opportunity to see if my mini-spare tire would fit, and it did. Next time I will probably just use a jack stand for the front, which is the first tire to come off. The rotation sequence is the fronts to the rears, and the rears cross-over to the front. All and all a fairly easy job. I used a torque-wrench to tighten to 100#, which ended up being just slightly tighter than I had done with the 4-way. Tire wear looked about the same on all of them with nearly 1/4" of tread remaining. I was surprised at the amount of surface rust on the hubs. Used a wire brush to clean it off. The way the rim is design allows water to reach most of the surface of the hub. I didn't get a picture of the hub, but here's the rim before I cleaned it.
  3. Good news, as many get worse rating. http://www.ctvnews.ca/autos/small-car-crash-tests-all-but-one-fare-poorly-1.1938632
  4. Exactly. I would say the odds are better than 0% that they failed to refill the engine with oil after the change, and are now in CYA mode.
  5. Yes, I was mistaken. If you put in a start and ending point the send to car menu appears. A single point doesn't bring it up.
  6. It appears the MapQuest feature of sending map coordinates to the Ford navigation system is no longer available. The Send to Car option is gone, and sending the location to the linked cell phone as a text message is not read by the Sync system. However, the Ford Sync Destination app mentioned by Rebecca does work, although it does require the sending device to be connected to the internet when the car is on and synced to the cell phone.
  7. Received our $775 check today! Thank you Ford. Now where is my thumb drive?
  8. My wife doesn't like the arm rests vs. our old Odyssey so on long trips she has a pillow stuffed next to the door rest and a slab of cover foam on top of the center rest (much like the Trillium). Problem mostly-solved. Trillium solution mentioned above: http://www.amazon.com/Trillium-CCG-400-Memory-Console-Cushion/dp/B0041GKR6G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405355525&sr=8-1&keywords=Trillium+foam
  9. Interesting. Perhaps another reason why I'm not in a big hurry to have this done. As a side note, I have seen one rollover accident live. We were stopped at a traffic light in Phoenix and coming from our right to left on the cross street was a car about 10' in the air. How it got into that position and how the occupants fared I never found out. But there it was.
  10. I suspect that emergency vehicle turned on their siren next to the poster, as I don't see this system as being able to suppress such noises.
  11. I can confirm the conclusion of this article - electric cars, e.g. the Energi, are just nice to drive - quiet and smooth. I love mine and feel a little sorry for those still driving ICE vehicles with regular transmissions. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1075727_electric-cars-secret-advantage-theyre-just-nicer-to-drive
  12. The black is just a painted version of the white. After I took those pictures I painted the white piece black too. A thin piece of wood would work too, or even stiff cardboard. It completely hides what's underneath and slides forward to get into the bottom. If its a large object you may have to take the shelf out to get the object out though.
  13. I added a shelf to mine. Has worked very well! Here's how to do it: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2217-center-console-shelf/?hl=shelf
  14. I wouldn't accept the OP as evidence of anything. The person that made the post has never returned to the forum, and several aspects of it are "odd", such as coming up on the 36,000 miles warranty (after one+ year?) and having activated the Lemon Law, but still worrying about breaking things. I would discount the OP as an example of C-Max issues, and concentrate on those series of posts by an individual that supply information on the problem and the resolution.
  15. Why don't you see if a high-volume 12v pump is available. Another possible alternative is to buy an inverter that will run off the 12v outlet, but you would need to make sure all those amperages match up too.
  16. The weight distribution specifics for the Energi model are 2,467 front and 2,493 rear for a total of 4,960. I don't see it sagging in the back!
  17. The limit for Combined Weight of Cargo and Occupants for the Energi is 825 pounds (less any installed add-ons, like a hitch). Gasoline and extra battery weight have already been accounted for in arriving at this number.
  18. After a year, 10,000 miles, and one long vacation trip I have not found the reduced storage area (about 8" less than the hybrid) to be an issue. It might keep me from carrying a lazy-boy (did two of those in my Odyssey) but hasn't been an issue yet for normal purposes. A dedicated 120v circuit is not required, but attention to what is running on the circuit is, and that why God made circuit breakers. I don't see the family weight to be a problem.
  19. This is my first in-car nav system so I don't know what other car makers do about map updates but I think these should be free during the warranty period. I don't see any reason to pay lots of money for an update considering the low number of new roads, new POIs, and errors that might impact my travels.
  20. Yes, about $250 total Energi fuel cost for 5,100 miles the first year vs. about $900 for the 18-24mpg Odyssey for about the same usage, although I don't have a miles number for it but our non-trip usage doesn't really change all that much. I'm basically saving about $600-$700 year having the Energi over the Honda. (My five year Honda average non-trip gasoline costs was $912. "Non-trip" includes 6-8 300 mile RT half-Interstate trips a year.)
  21. My gasoline costs have gone from about $900 a year driving a Honda Odyssey to about $150 with the Energi (excl 1,000+ mile trips). Electricity use has gone up about $100. Mostly I just enjoy not having to stop at the gasoline pump so often.
  22. Thread on recall: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3787-safety-recall-14s04-reprogram-restraints-control-module/
  23. My 9/1/13 car is also showing this recall. I'm not too concerned about this one, having driven cars for 45 years without side curtain airbags, so will wait until my first oil change/tire rotation (free at the dealer) to get this done, unless further information changes my urgency index.
  24. Someone has mentioned they raise the entire side of the car by using just one jacking point. Something to keep in mind.
