I didn't think that I was going to make it on this tank (tourist traffic, weather, some bad breaks), but MPG MAX certainly lived up to her name. Announcing the latest entrant into the 800+ Mile Club! Stats for this tank: 800.1 Miles 63 MPG 12.68 Gallons All stock (no tire overinflation or aero mods) I finished off the tank with a great last run, making a 73.7 MPG final trip, as I pulled into the Costco on hope, adrenaline, and fumes!

Splash Guards - Molded, Black Frnt & Rear

Mine also came with them installed. I like them. I imagine that they protect the paint from things like flying rocks and debris from the road. -
Best Engine RPM for minimal FE loss.

Doing mostly two bar burns is working pretty well for me. From today's drive.- 99 replies

SYNC Version 4.3 - 2014 Vehicles
ScubaDadMiami replied to Bill-N's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Hmmm, I wonder what improvements are in the new version. -
Agreed. Better to underpromise and overdeliver.

I have the one on the right. I was worried that the one on the left would block the vent. Any issues?

Anyone else seen this phone issue?
ScubaDadMiami replied to BretJ's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Which button are you using? From what I recall (it is so reflexive that I haven't thought about it in quite a while), you get a message that says "Incoming Call," and then you use the OK button to answer, not the green/red telephone paddle. -
There could always be a "first," and this may be it. I've not had this problem, but I don't discount any good faith claims that anyone may assert. Let's at least give a chance to investigate to see if this is a problem or not.

I can't remember for sure, but I believe that Ford honored the 2013 coupon based upon the order date. Not sure if that was just a good will extension, or if that is a regular policy. My dealer gave a pretty accurate ETA of delivery at the time that I placed my order. Hopefully, your dealer will know a realistic ETA that they can give you. Ask them about the coupon.

I would be satisfied with the rear window fins, so that there is improvement in the dirty rear-end.

Best Engine RPM for minimal FE loss.
ScubaDadMiami replied to John Sparks's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I haven't really tested the 2,000 RPM thing, but this makes sense to me. Sure, you may have a momentary improved fuel economy during a lower RPM, but then you have to run ICE for longer to get up to speed. The important thing is total fuel used during the ICE burn, not how much fuel is being consumed at the moment that ICE is running at a specific RPM. Again, I haven't really tested this, but the best balance seems to be how long ICE runs (not floored, but with reasonable burns) rather than the instant FE of the lower RPM.- 99 replies

Maybe the 2,000 RPM makes a bigger difference for getting up to speed, not just at constant speed? Anybody know about that?- 99 replies

I don't know about apps that do this for the Hybrid. Do you have the key fob that allows this?

The rear window deflectors look like something that an enterprising individual might want to consider selling here. ;)

In the past 24 hours, I saw the commercial (still never the entire thing in one shot) three times. Maybe they are advertising heavier where it gets warm in the winter?

Anybody know how to keep the recycle air on?
ScubaDadMiami replied to zalusky's topic in Climate Control
I never have a problem with the Recirculate function turning off. You just can't use the Auto function. Using Auto will start off with Recirc, but it will allow outside air once at the set temperature. -
Ford to update 3.4 million cars to Applink
ScubaDadMiami replied to fotomoto's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Actually, the article said something about them not being able to make it work with the upgrades system. So, either that is a Ford issue or a Microsoft one. I am betting on it being a Microsoft issue. -
Today, as I was driving around in the bad weather of late, I was wondering why the programing of the rear wipe only allows autowiper function when in reverse . (That is correct, isn't it?) Especially with this liftgate that loves to suck in anything in the trailing end of the car, this needs a change.

I hope that someone figures out something that doesn't look bad.

Ford to update 3.4 million cars to Applink
ScubaDadMiami replied to fotomoto's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
It is already happening . . . just not with Ford, unfortunately. Here's the link. Of course, the companies that are doing this are locking in with AT&T. So, there is nothing perfect out there.
