  1. Just a guess, but I would think that it's no worst than when running with Downhill Assist.
  2. Don't ask me why, but Ford changed the C-MAX to no longer include lifetime numbers. It either happened for end of the 2013 or, certainly, by the time of the 2014.
  3. If you want not to worry about it, you can always carry a gas can with you. Since my 800+ tank, I don't wait until the tank is so close to empty before I fill up. I pretty much know what the car can do, and I doubt that I will try to achieve Jus' 900 tank, so I just don't have the need to push it.
  4. I wouldn't say that so loudly in present company. We might get a few :swear: thrown at us. Hey, it did go down to the low 60's, this week down here.
  5. I have never had to use heat, but I hear that this can severely affect MPG, and that the better option is to use the heated seats, if you have them. Still, your report sounds way too low. I've run at 80 mph with air conditioning, and I got about 38 MPG.
  6. Zero time. Suppose that you happened to arrive home with a full HVB on the night before. You press the start button on the next morning, and the battery is almost full (with some decline from the cold overnight). So, you pull out onto your street without ICE running, and you get up to speed on HVB. Now, ICE suddenly comes to life, and you just keep on going without incident. Ford did not design the C-MAX to make it so that you have to sit until a charged HVB discharges enough to require ICE to run, when you first start up in the morning. Just press start, and then go.
  7. They did up the tire pressure in the 2014 by 2 PSI, I believe. I think that it went from 36 to 38, but I can't remember.
  8. I've been getting good numbers with just running the factory specs. I guess I could do a little better by pumping up the pressure, but I don't want any issues, should I have any incidents involving the tires.
  9. I am hoping that a few thousand miles (which usually takes a while for me to put on my car) will get rid of the noise. They were just rotated and balanced.
  10. It is all the time between those speeds. It stops when I go faster or slower. No wheel shimmy, no pull to either side.
  11. I have rotated about every 5,000 miles, and I am now at 16,500+ miles. I just did a rotation, and I now notice the tire noise that I didn't hear before. It sounds like it comes from the front. I only hear it on smooth roads while traveling between about 30 MPH to 45 MPH (which, of course, is how I spend most of my driving). It sounds like snow tire noise.
  12. That makes good sense. Congratulations! I don't know much about the car. I saw one at the dealer, and I liked the look (which I would not have noticed wasn't a regular model without the badges and port). You said 30 miles to work, where you will have a charge station. What is the range on a single charge, and what are the charge times.
  13. I resemble that remark! :stirpot: I always take my Vitamix with me on the road. I brought it along when I drove to North Carolina, and I brought it on this year's trip to New England. It let me stay healthy while on the road for a month and a half. I never miss a day. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/vitamix/2816873
  14. I don't live in the mountains, but I've traveled there in my C-MAX. I know that it sounds scary when you hear ICE turning without firing, but I just don't sweat it. When I was just in New England, I ran down 15 percent grades with Downhill Assist on and a maxed out HVB. All I could think was: "What a waste of regen!" After all, once the HVB is fully topped off, the rest just goes bye-bye. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. It has to be softer on the engine to turn without the heat from the combustion happening than it is with running ICE, even if everything is turning at a high rate of speed. My guess would be that lubrication is provided to the cylinder walls, or that enough is already there, to allow extended high RPM.
  15. Please provide some comparison numbers. That would be interesting to find out. I suppose that there is a bit of a bump for the Hybrid system. There are also some discounts for things like safety and less likely to be in an accident, but I guess that this wasn't enough to overcome some other anticipated expense.
  16. It takes a few minutes for the light to turn off after you fill, so give it a while before you start worrying that it is more than just a top off that you need.
  17. Never had this problem. The only problem I had was with it sometimes taking extra kicks, but that was fixed as soon as the update came out. Does this only happen in this single location, or has it also happened in other places? Wondering if there is something going on in the location that could be a trigger.
  18. That's the retail price. People have posted that they are getting the A5 cards for about $35 on eBay and such. There have been other threads about areas of weakness in the system. The best solution is to use a combination of your smartphone and MFT. That way, you get to take advantage of voice command and a big screen. It's not ideal, but I am not altogether displeased with the system, either.
  19. The best color to get depends upon your priorities. There are looks, and there are practical considerations. There are colors that look great rolling off of the lot, but they can be more costly up front and in the long run. If you are considering any of the tricoat paint colors, you pay extra up front. If you get a scratch and want to keep your car looking like new, the available touch up kit will not fully restore to the paint and layer it properly. If you get it fixed by a professional, it costs more for the tricoat restoration. I went with Oxford White. As said above about being a "cooler" color, in the hot Florida sun, it is the best of a bad situation for getting into a car that has been sitting in an uncovered parking lot at noon. (I use my key fob to open the windows as I approach, which helps get some of that heat out, too.) Second, this color saved money at the time of purchase, which I used to go for the Panoramic Roof. Third, you can only see my repaired bumper scratch (that I did with the Ford touch up kit) by getting on your knees with a just cleaned car, so that you can get close enough to tell where it got scratched. I really like the way that some of the other colors look when they are at their best, but there were other factors that came into play in my consideration, those being the cost and the heat. Since I could not find a vehicle exactly the way that I wanted it, I ordered (and waited impatiently for) a fully loaded SEL, except for the more expensive paint. So far, so good.
  20. There was both a hardware and software change in the 2014 relating to the transmission. The 2013 had a software reprogram to closely match it, but we still have the previous hardware. I am guessing that 2015 will be the year that Ford gets all of the last issues ironed out, and that they elected to perfect production of things before making any significant changes. That's just a total guess, but I have a feeling that it will go down this way in relation to quality of build and reliability. After that, Ford will be ready for whatever will come next.
  21. So far, so good. The light is off after both time sitting in the garage and time running around town for a couple of days.
  22. The only thing that I noticed is that my EV+ locations are gone. Otherwise, lifetime numbers are still there, but I guess I should double check the details on that.
  23. Have you checked to make sure that the valve has the Schrader valve screwed all the way in?
  24. I am with you on wishing for a spare. I drove 5,400+ miles to New England and back, and I lucked out, but worrying about getting a flat in a remote area was always on my mind.
