Mod or Remove Foot Rest?
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in Accessories & Modifications
By "foot rest," I mean the component below the carpet for the left foot rest for the driver. Are you saying that yours did not come with one? -
Spare Tire Solution for C-Max Hybrid.
ScubaDadMiami replied to Roger Eastman's topic in Wheels & Tires
Carrying such a kit sounds like a good idea. Is there one that someone in the know can suggest? -
I rented one from Budget for 24 hours, before placing my order. I was getting 46.5 for both city and highway on a car that had about 8,000 miles on it. Expecting delivery in about a month. I'll let you know!

Order to Delivery Time Thread
ScubaDadMiami replied to ScooterS's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Initial Order Date: 03/28/2013 Ordered From Ford by Dealer: @04/02/2013 VIN: 04/15/2013 ETA, per dealer: @05/15/2013. As to the date ordered from Ford, from what I gather, the dealer puts all factory orders together for a regular meeting with its Ford Rep, weekly or equivalent. So, I am guessing that I ordered on a Thursday, and the order was actually sent to Ford on Tuesday. I could be completely wrong about all of this, but I am adding all that I know or was told. -

Ford's site with instructional videos for C-Max
ScubaDadMiami replied to Laurel's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I have been spending quite a bit of time watching them. Hey, I still have four to six weeks to delivery, and I need some kind of way to pass the slow time without going nuts! :runaway: I think that these will be really helpful for getting ready for my new C-MAX. There are so many amazing things that I learned about, such as the many "little" extras that come in the C-MAX, and all of the cool features that I can't wait to use. Also, watching these videos will allow me to set up my car just the way I want it, even before I leave the dealer parking lot. (For example, I will reset the lifetime MPG, etc. So, I will get real numbers from day one.) -

FOOT ACTIVATED LIFTGATE IS INTERMITTENT
ScubaDadMiami replied to BWP's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Perhaps we need to practice our Karate Kid single leg flying kick! :hysterical: -
Do you find that you have to really reach over to use the phone, or do you find that it is right at arm's length? It seems like reaching the phone could be a distraction. On the other hand, placing it in the center could block the screen and air from the vents (which matters in Florida). Decisions, decisions!

Checked the Ford web site. Very cool feature.

You can get the power liftgate with the SE. You can only get the foot activated version with the SEL.

Plus, you can always hit the button to open the windows, and you can dive in to make an even faster getaway! -
I am an Android phone user. I haven't yet gotten my C-MAX (just ordered). This is the first I hear of this feature. I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that the C-MAX (in case it matters which model, I am getting an SEL303A) has a local wifi network that allows devices to connect to each other (such as for passenger gaming), but that there is no external connection (to the Internet) capability in the system?

Insurance Discounts for C-MAXers
ScubaDadMiami replied to Riddley's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
My carrier is GEICO. I just got a quote for going from a 2004 Nissan Murano SL to an SEL303A. I don't yet have a VIN, so there could be a final adjustment to what they told me, I suppose. Anyway, my premium went up about $100 per year. I was told that this is only because I was driving a nearly 10 year old car, and that the premium raise factors in the risk for them having to pay to replace a new C-MAX, in case of damage to the vehicle in an accident. I did not specifically discuss a "hybrid discount" with the agent. -
I don't know if this will help, but I owned a 2004 Murano for the past 9.5 years. In fact, I just sold it today, and I'll be in a rental for the next 6 to 8 weeks, awaiting my C-MAX delivery. But, I digress . . . I would say that the bottom of the Murano seats are a bit higher than in the C-MAX. For me--I'm barely 5'9"--my issue was that I had to raise the Murano seat height up high for both comfort and visibility. This would require me to duck into the seat in order not to hit my head on the roof. No such problem in the C-MAX. Did they try adjusting the seat base up higher in the C-MAX? I don't recall having to sit especially down low to get into the C-MAX,

Since I am trying to fill my idle time while I await my C-MAX dealer delivery, I am ordering new mounts for things like my radar detector and smartphone. I have used the ProClip for my cell/smarphones for at least my last two vehicles. They are the greatest! ProClip makes two locations for mounting in the C-MAX, and I am trying to decide which location would be better. There is the center mount: http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-vehicle-mount/ford-c-max-2013-2014/proclip-center-mount-854795-14497.aspx There is also an angled mount: http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-vehicle-mount/ford-c-max-2013-2014/proclip-angled-mount-854796-14497.aspx The center mount seems like it would be a very convenient location. This is where I have my phone in my current vehicle. However, in the C-MAX, it looks like this will block the center screen, not the case with my current vehicle. Also, any cable I install (permanently) will be more visible, I suppose. The angled mount will protrude into the passenger footwell, and it places the phone in a less convenient location. Even if I won't need to touch my phone anymore to place calls, I still use my cell phone for things like playing Spotify (where I want to be able to easily skip songs, etc.). So, the angled mount could be more of an issue for doing things on the screen on the phone. Any votes? Oh, go ahead and suggest another brand, if you like. Just know that I have had the very best results with the ProClip, and I can still transfer half of the ProClip from my old car to the C-MAX, which means it will be just the mounting base that I will have to buy anew.

Some things that were important to me, but that you can't get without leather: Power seat for driver (there is a big difference in comfort IMHO) Fog lights (without HID or LED, this took on importance for me) Hands free lift gate (very important for me)

What happens if your state allows darker tint, and then you drive to another state that restricts to a lighter tint? -

Rear Bumper Scuff Protection
ScubaDadMiami replied to dtorres's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Thanks. I won't know until my SEL303A arrives at the dealership. -
When I followed that link, my antivirus software shows that there is some kind of threat (I am guessing some tracking or spybot). I didn't sign up. Would have, but I am guessing that I am leaving myself open by actively entering the site.

Rear Bumper Scuff Protection
ScubaDadMiami replied to dtorres's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I have been thinking of doing that. I wonder if the black one would cover all of the graphics adequately. -
I just ordered my C-Max. So, I haven't had a chance to poke around inside yet. It looks like the front foot wells are pretty much mirror images of each other, except for the pedals and the foot rest for the driver. In my test drive, I simply hated that foot rest. I wonder if I could just pull back the carpet, and take out that foot rest, or maybe do something to reshape it. Has anyone had a peek under that carpet yet?
-
Thanks so much for the idea. I am going to contact them to see if this would work with a cargo box. It surely looks like it should work with their paddle board version.

This was what I was told by the dealer when I placed my order with both the roof rack and the glass.
