I pick up my new C-MAX in 24 hours! :yahoo:
-
Yeah, but it could be presented to Ford at the meeting, which I think would make it have a higher chance of being looked at by someone that could make the suggestions go someplace.

Tinting is getting done today. I could have picked up my new C-MAX tomorrow, but, given the holiday weekend, I told my rep that I would pick it up whatever time would work best for him, since he was supposed to be off for the whole weekend, and since he is willing to come make my delivery during this time. So, instead of picking up tomorrow, I will pick up on Monday. This will give me time to arrange for turning in my rental at a different location. So, it really doesn't bother me too much. There is one decision I have to make: We discussed the liftgate TSB. Not sure if my vehicle will have the latest version or not--Build Date April 29, 2013. He can have it done for me, if it has not yet already been done during the install at the factory. However, that will mean that I will then have to schedule pick up for Tuesday. On the other hand, my vehicle was pulled for a Quality Control test, which likely means that they tested everything before sending it off. I am off of work on Monday. So, that works well. Picking up on Tuesday will really crowd my schedule. So, I am going back and forth about getting the liftgate update done now. I mean, I am already waiting until Monday. I just don't think I can hold out much longer! For all I know, maybe the liftgate has the latest programming. Almost there!

You joined the FastBreak program, and told them that you are a FastBreak member?

Page 179 of the Operator's Manual: "Low Gear: Low gear (position L) is designed to mimic the enhanced engine braking available in non-hybrid vehicles. Low gear will produce high engine speeds to provide necessary engine braking. This is normal and will not damage your vehicle. In low gear, the gas engine will remain on more often than in position D."

Insurance Discounts for C-MAXers
ScubaDadMiami replied to Riddley's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I just squared away my insurance with GEICO. I went from a 2004 Nissan Murano SL to an SEL 303A. I had a quote from GEICO, about two months ago, that showed the premium going up by about $50 every six months. This made sense, given that the replacement cost of the new C-MAX would be a lot more than a nearly 10 year old Murano. However, once I provided the VIN to get the actual policy (last night), it seems that my insurance premium actually went DOWN by about $50. All coverage is the same, and it is with the same insurance company. They never specifically said anything about a Hybrid discount. My driving record has remained the same (no tickets, accidents) throughout. So, I can't really put my finger on the reason for the insurance premium reduction. I have no idea if it has to do with being a hybrid. Hey, I am not complaining! :) -
Mine was built 04/29, and it just arrived at the dealer yesterday. So, it would seem like you are in an any-day-now situation. Hope it comes soon. Eight weeks was a long wait.

FINALLY! My new C-MAX arrived at the dealer! :yahoo: They will likely have it prepped (depends on if able to do the tinting) for delivery as soon as tomorrow! Just a few more steps to go! So: My Order Placed: March 28, 2013 Order Placed by Dealer: March 29 Build Date: April 29 Delivery to Dealer: May 24 I'll let you know when I finally get to bring it home! Hooray! :woot: :shift:

I agree. The front sensors are a plus. However, they could have just gone the last step. Maybe we could make one big petition from the Forum that would have the top five or so improvements/wish list items? I would add allowing AppLink on the upscale entertainment system, so that users can take full advantage of both the system and smartphones. I'd also go big time about a non-leather option for the SEL. Maybe if they got something from all of us, it would have a bigger impact. Just a thought.

Roof Rack installation difficulty
ScubaDadMiami replied to stephengoldberger's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Run a search here. I posed a question about this a while back, and I got some good suggestions about other carriers that looked good. -
The Owner's Manual says that neutral does not provide any charge to the battery, from what I recall.

Lucky you! :shift: I ordered March 29. ETA is next week. I hope to be joining you soon. Enjoy!

NOT MINE! But, here is what I saw at Budget at MIA today, when I went to pick up what I hope to be my last rental before my REAL C-MAX arrives at the dealership next week . . . hopefully. (That's another story.) The point is, C-MAXs are out there for rental . . . at least in some areas.

I just paid for another week of car rental, starting tomorrow.

Which phone? -
It says that it imports from Fuelly. So, does that mean the procedure for a fill-up would be: Record in Fuelly Import Add Other Info? The App looks pretty robust. I just don't want to have to do multiple entry. I do need to log business related expenses, etc. So, being able to do it all in one place is the goal. Oh, and reporting. Gotta have strong reporting features without so much time on Exel. That would be nice.

Another update today. My C-MAX is on a rail car, and it was passing through Kentucky. Updated ETA is still 7 to 10 days. Time to reserve a rental car for yet another week.

I was thinking I was the only one. . . . Week seven for me. Latest ETA is still a week or so off.

I originally was going to wait, but there will always be something like that. If you just wait to 2015, they'll have the LED headlights. By 2016, the 600 mile battery highway speed range, . . . . If I lose some residual value but have my C-MAX for long enough, I will just have to live with that. Besides, by the time you want to sell or trade, you never get what you want. So, I am just going to enjoy, and I'll not stress about it.

Why does remaining at 63 MPH or less not result in getting good fuel economy? Others have called 63 to 66 the sweet spot. Nice write up.
-
Good to see that it can handle the load. I will often be hauling a good amount of scuba gear and tanks in my C-MAX. Cave Diving Country is in Northern Florida, which is between seven to ten hours, depending on selected location, from Miami. So, I need something that can handle well on the highway while loaded. Can't wait!

HeatShield sunshade for the 2013 CMax
ScubaDadMiami replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Accessories & Modifications
We definitely get the heat down here in Miami, but I've never owned a shade before. It just seems like it would be so much work to have to install and remove the shade. I hope that the selection of the Oxford White exterior with the light interior, adding tinting, and being able to use the key fob to open the windows before entry, will do the trick without having to resort to also adding a sun shade.
