  1. The link I posted, the first message has like 20 and there are more mentioned in the latter part of the thread. There is a thread that has the actual service bulletin which is a pretty good one. I think there is also one started by a taxi driver, though they could be the same one. Here's a post with the service bulletin I copied from some other thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5038-my-transmission-broke-and-yours-might-too/?p=56493
  2. Yes I have. I have experienced leaving messages and not getting a call or email back. There is a Ford rep that takes care of people on this message board. You might want to send a message to http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/user/1579-fordservice/ This situation seems to be a no brainer. You have a 2013 C-Max which is built with defect involved with the bearing and your transmission when bad. Ford knows about the problem for they have a service bulletin about it. There are several message threads on this forum with about this problem. Lots of 2013 transmissions go bad. Here is one of the threads. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/5288-mileage-and-build-date-for-ecvt-that-have-failed/ There is also another good one that you might be able to find. There also probably are message threads on the fusion hybrid forum on the same transmission problem. It seems to be worse for cars driven at highway speeds.
  3. Sounds like you would benefit with a sun shade even if it didn't fix the radio problem. There are message threads on sunshades complete with pictures. I have a more expensive custom fit one - Intro-Tech Automotive Ultimate Reflector Car Sun Shade . In three years it still works though it seems to be a bit looser at the joints. I do not recall other sound system overheating discussion and I have been on the site for over 3 years. So if your car is still under warranty you might be able to let the dealer handle it. That is not suppose to happen.
  4. The wheels look different than my 2013 wheels, perhaps less air turbulence. The hood may or may not have a more cut recess, the recess that funnels air seems steeper than mine, but I have a white car which might be the difference.

  6. Here are 3 more from this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/6067-long-term-c-max-tests-75-transmission-failure/page-1 All 2013 C-Max VIN# 1FADP5AU1DL528698 116k replaced transmission $3989 VIN# 1FADP5AU0DL535139 90k replaced transmission $4383 VIN# 1FADP5AU0DL532158 110k replaced transmission $3889
  7. My experience with a "dead" C-Max battery has been no electrical activity at all, no lights, nothing. I use a small lithium battery jumper which so far has work fine for the last 2 dead battery situations I have had. Being that your electric seats work, I wonder if there is some problem other than the battery. Are you able to measure the voltage of the battery ?
  8. I was thinking that the effects of a lot of aero dynamic additions are conditional on speed. So the sweet spot changes with speed. And some of the best spots for a vortex may not even be on the body of the car but behind the car and also a function of speed.
  9. That reflects the power of people coming together on this forum to share information rather than having to trust the service manager.
  10. AC in 100+ degree temps may be quite a draw of power per minute. Miles driven were mostly highway. Minutes driven were kind of evenly split. https://avt.inl.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/hev/hevop2013CMaxHybrid2158HEV.pdf https://avt.inl.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/hev/hevop2013CMaxHybrid5138HEV.pdf https://avt.inl.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/hev/hevop2013CMaxHybrid5139HEV.pdf https://avt.inl.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/hev/hevop2013CMaxHybrid8698HEV.pdf It gets hot in Phoenix: https://www.currentresults.com/Weather/Arizona/Places/phoenix-temperatures-by-month-average.php I may have been too quick to say the cars were not babied. A lot of time was in the 0-10 mph range. If there was just sitting in the car in park, that kills mileage.
  11. There are some pretty exhaustive stats. This study was HUGE. Some that caught my interest. Fuel mileage by speed, (40-50 is the sweet spot, low to mid 30's above eighty, Low speed mileage was low probably because air cond on.) Fuel mileage by month - winter is higher - no air conditioning. Average fuel economy was in the mid to high 30's (reflecting the cars were not babied)
  12. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3094-ssm-44252-hybrids-in-taxi-service-hf35-transmission-bearing-noise/?p=34987 SSM 44252 - Hybrids In Taxi Service - HF35 Transmission Bearing NoiseSome 2013 C-MAX Hybrid and 2013-2014 Fusion Hybrid vehicles operating in taxi service may exhibit a metal-on-metal scraping-type sound from the transmission. This noise will be present in all gear ranges including neutral when the vehicle is moving, but will not be present when the vehicle is stationary or in park. The current transmission assembly (7000) service parts incorporate design improvements to enhance durability under the unique operating conditions of taxi service. That's what I used to infer that there is a fix. So I infer a transmission assembly (7000) or later has a fix.
  13. The first transmission problem I recall being posted here was from a taxi guy from Arizona. Added later: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2415-ford-c-max-taxi-fleet/?hl=transmission http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3094-ssm-44252-hybrids-in-taxi-service-hf35-transmission-bearing-noise/ Just to repeat, people with 2014 and later have a corrected design. (and some late model year 2013's)
  14. The fix was done in late 2013 so you are in good shape.
  15. Hybrids have to be driven like hybrids. Many of the drivers of the transit connects have hybrid style driving as a lower priority. And conventional drive trains probably will be less problematic and costly. My sense is that all-electric vehicles are less driving style sensitive. We are part of Fords testing of the engine. I suspect it will move out into other vehicles now that it pretty well tested. From what I gather from Wikipedia the transit connect is built in Turkey or Spain so that complicates things. As kind of previously mentioned with the payload post, the transmission may have to be majorly tweaked. And there may be other transmissions in development for more commercial vehicles. A while ago I was reading about development of conventional automatic transmissions with lots of gears.
  16. bIn theory. I kind of skimmed the thread and know there is mention of hill regen capacity but thought I would add some more on that. I considered buying a house in Hawaii. It was up a long long way up and steep. To get to anything there was only one road down to the main road. There are situations like this in other areas. So the idea would be to leave enough room in the battery to not waste the daily or multiple daily elevation drops, or just use gas to truly respond to the question of the thread. In Hawaii and other places, this could work the other way too. Like living at sea level and then making the trip to one of those telescopes on top of a mountain on a daily basis if you worked up there. Just fill up the battery at home, or use the gas engine and charge it back up on the way down. That's like 13800 feet. Note: I am not sure the C-Max battery could take so much charging, but perhaps a Tesla could. Also need to consider the effect of humidity and salt on a hybrid in some areas of Hawaii.
  17. So I assume you have not had transmission problems. That's good information. So 115,000 45mph average, lots of stop and go, grill blocks and no transmission problems. 50 lifetime average speaks for itself.
  18. I rented a Hyundai accent 3-4 years ago and it had eco-mode and I used it until I almost got into an accident pulling in to traffic. I learned very quickly if I floor the gas it snaps out of eco-mode. I would have liked it to snap out with less of a pedal push. I really like Scottwood2's post on having my own eco mode which is kind of what I do, though I never put it into such succinct words. It adjusts automatically for if I am in a rush, and it adjusts to my moods, and it learns. I kind of understand perhaps why Ford would put an eco-mode in there. The dealers get customers that drive a car hard. The customers complain about the mileage. Ford ends up paying for all sorts of stuff and has disappointed customers. This could be kind of an quick way to handle that. Eco-mode might be kind of a training mode to some and a more regular mode for people that are just not into all the technical stuff. But it may need some tweeking. This messages on this board has sure helped me a lot in my own eco-mode. Thanks people.
  19. The wear on the rear brakes during slower stops is a very light application when the regen braking would be cosmetically too rough (something like 5 -> 0 mph). My thinking includes the possibility the wear on the rotors reflects a high percent of light brake applications. I do a lot of slower driving and do not have rust problem, but if I did I like Hackster's idea of the emergency brake though I might just make some hard stops and mess up my brake score some.
  20. In 2013 I sat in a Prius V and Prius. Didn't bother test driving because the headroom was unsafe for me. Totyota doesn't try to satisfy people that need headroom, instead they go sacrifice them for a car that weighs less and has less air friction. Prius C was more comfy and its highway MPG indicates so. (still not enough headroom for more) Toyota may have the right idea in some respect - seeing how the C-Max is being discontinued. I wonder about the improvement to highway MPG if the C-Max had a inch taken off the net height. ever wonder why a highway is called a highway ? http://www.herebeanswers.com/2010/10/road-links-two-cities-called-highway.html
  21. When replacing tires is there anything special that needs to be done with respects to the TPMS. It used to be when you replace tires you get a new valve stem which was a pretty small expense. How often do the rubber parts need to be replaced?

  23. Did Ford pay for the arm or was that your expense ?
