The fan not coming on problem has happened to me before when I thought the engine should have been warm enough for heat. The automatic part of the climate control is designed to keep the fan off until there is heat available. It's possible that it is slow at detecting that sometimes. I had to turn on the Max Defrost for the fan to start, then it kept running when I switched to normal heat.

Running the A/C or windy weather are a couple things I can think of that would reduce range. It's also possible that the drivetrain isn't fully broken in yet.

I do not name inanimate objects. Maybe I'm too logical thinking or maybe I'm a boring person.

They have nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide batteries. http://www.sae.org/mags/aei/11705/

For anyone who wants to reduce brake dust, there is Rejex. http://www.rejex.com/rejex.html

From what I've seen, the regen hardly charges the battery unless you're coasting down a extended downhill. I thought the Energi EV Later made it function like a normal hybrid with blended gas and electric mode.

I do if there happens to be a larger rock in view that's easy to pop out when I'm squatting down and checking the tires. Too much work to get rid of all the small or deeply embedded ones.

The service interval for oil change and tire rotation is the same, whenever the display says it's due with a maximum or 10K miles of 12 months.

For every person who has a legitimate need to tow a trailer or has a large family, there are multiple buyers who want a large vehicle because they think it's much safer in a crash, or they like the styling, or like the high driving position, or they want 4-wheel drive for those half a dozen days a year when snow hasn't been plowed off the roads yet, or some other excuse that is not justifiable..

Continuing the sudden surge in Canadian reviews. http://www.kelownacapnews.com/lifestyles/188402501.html (7.1 L/100 km or 33.13 MPG)

I think if any door or the hatch isn't completely closed, the parking lights will stay on. I've noticed that a few times while in my garage.

I still get some trips in the 40 and 50+ MPG range in the cold, but it depends on the engine being warm from a recent trip, or a longer drive that allows the engine to run at operating temperature for a while to bring up the average. Plus keeping the heat off and relying on heated seats when the engine is cold.

Just an advance warning that this is a bit OCD. :) I was checking the tire pressure this morning and finally noticed the tires have rubber "whiskers" sticking out all the way around all the tires. They look kind of stupid, and haven't worn off after 4K miles, so I grabbed some nail clippers and trimmed them off quick. The only reason I thought of removing them is because I had one bicycle that I put new tires on and the whiskers actually rubbed the frame and made noise, so I had to trim them off to keep from damaging the bike. I promise that I didn't trim them off the inside of the tires (yet!) so I'm not completely OCD. My C-Max is now slightly lighter and more aerodynamic than yours. Now, everybody out to the garage with some nail clippers. I know ptjones is going to go out right now and trim them off the insides of his tires too. ;)

We now have Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) instead of gas taxes. One other idea is a tax that sets a minimum price on gas (not diesel used by businesses) of something like $3.50 a gallon. The lower the pre-tax sale amount, the more collected as tax. Gas prices have been under $3/gallon in many places recently. Every time the prices drop, sales of big guzzlers go back up. Lots of people with short memories.

The NY Times reviews the Hybrid and Energi. Several MPG figures quoted include 35.9, 50 and low 40s. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/27/automobiles/any-engine-you-like-but-only-if-its-a-hybrid.html?_r=0 Autobytel gets less than half the EPA's 47 MPG rating. They say mileage was much better in a previous test last summer (page 7). http://www.autobytel.com/ford/c-max-hybrid/2013/reviews/2013-ford-c-max-hybrid-road-test-and-review-115172/

One problem with a gas tax is that it hurts lower income people more. That is not the case with other types of taxes. With income tax, rates can be maintained or reduced independently for some lower income brackets. With sales tax, you have to spend a lot to pay a lot. With property tax, the homes with the highest assessed value pay the most. If you have a long commute, or have already reduced your driving to a minimum, or already drive a fuel efficient vehicle, there is little you can do to lessen the impact of higher gas prices because it is effectively a fixed expense.

We need higher fuel prices to discourage people from buying huge guzzlers that they really don't need. But the cost of almost everything you buy will increase because it's shipped to your city on a diesel powered truck or train or flown in on a jet. Not to mention the stuff shipped across oceans on huge cargo ships.

Parking in different parking spots at work may confuse the EV+ GPS tracking. But I've never seen alot of value in EV+ as long as the battery charge isn't low and the engine is warm. It will frequently go into EV mode for some distance before EV+ engages.

Comparison against VW Golf TDI. Weekly average was 7.2 L/100 km or 32.67 MPG. http://www.autos.ca/car-comparisons/comparison-test-2013-ford-c-max-hybrid-vs-2013-volkswagen-golf-wagon-tdi/?all=1

Think this might be a new record low. More than 10 L/100km, or less than 23.5 MPG in extreme cold. http://www.guideautoweb.com/en/articles/19083/

I've never signed up on fuelly. I would forget to records mileage when I refuel part of the time. I still have the grill taped off and I think it has minimal benefit. I do not trust a third party oil pan heater.

What I want is to put the custom view or trip screens on the LCD to the right of the speedometer. The leaves and entertainment stuff there isn't useful to me. Submitting ideas to Ford: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/840-ford-social-your-ideas/

Those of us in the great frozen north with single digit temps (or lower) and short drives to work will have to sit this out until about May.
