Its turns about the same as my 2010 Outback but about 2 feet wider than my Passat. The Passat is a much larger car 191.6 " vs 173.6 " overall length.

Audio quality of rear speakers?
darrelld replied to StoBro2's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
If you want some technical specs on the system check out this video discussion with the engineers. -
You can post all your spare solution photos to your gallery. Next use the Media button in the post options to reference photos in your gallery. And yes this forum software must have written by the same developers of Sync.

Congrats Tom, I am looking forward to our 100 degree summers to see how the AC affects mpg. From what I have seen there should be less impact from heat vs cold.

:woohoo:

I have noticed the same, as temps climb into the high 50's and beyond the EV threshold will almost double from what I see in the 20's.

Audio quality of rear speakers?
darrelld replied to StoBro2's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
That's one is good for low mids to highs, but my fav for tuning eq's (its now available through iTunes digitally remastered) is U2 "The Joshua Tree". This selection especially, I would take my iPod classic to different models and play it through the sound system. I believe the C-Max is limited by the 5(1/4" in?) drivers in the fronts doors, they get overwhelmed easily with deep bass and synths. If you are ever around a VW dealer, drop by to check out the Fender audio, make certain whatever model you try has the soft dash material. All the speakers have their own enclosure and the front/rear door drivers are 8". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnD6ojjA0OA -
Before ya come down on Ford too hard for defects....
darrelld replied to kinetic1's topic in General Discussion
We were just laughing about that yesterday, I used to own a 2006 Lexus IS and lost count of all the recalls. Seemed like almost everything on the car was recalled from camshafts, outside mirrors, inside mirrors, brakes, fuel pumps and more rattles than my 2001 Mustang GT ever had. One of the reasons I went from Lexus to VW, I figure that if its going be in the shop at least it should be fun to drive while its not. Ironically had less problems with the VW and far few fewer with my C-Max for as many months of ownership. Before purchasing my C-Max I laughingly suggested to the rest of the family that we consider another Toyota product the quote was "Barf". -
Reading through the manual it says you can jump another car off those battery posts so an inverter should be no strain. I originally intended to hook the inverter up to my TDI but with the C-Max you get the advantage of ICE only when needed instead of continually idling. With all the reports of dead batteries I have placed this project on hold until something definitive is determined from Ford. I still suspect a problem with the DC/DC converter circuit or whatever senses the charging threshold.

I already have these items but would to like to see the wiring diagram before doing a load test.

I am not sure that much current is available on the small scale battery posts used to power up the electronics. Some of the earlier research I did on the Prius indicated they tapped the high voltage side to do UPS functions. I can't find the reference now but another poster here mentioned stop/start idling for about an hour with the heat on.

I had the Check Engine Light that would go away after a few miles, then Check Fuel Filler Inlet it would go away after a few miles, next was Check Engine Light with no Fuel Filler Inlet that never went away, now both have disappered but I can't fill beyond 3/4 tank. Still no word from Ford on the new parts, their tech line says its a complete redesign.

Sent an email to the company about this product; https://converdant.pinnaclecart.com/plug-out/ http://green.autoblog.com/2013/01/30/these-kits-turn-your-prius-into-an-emergency-generator/ If there is enough interest they might put engineering resources into a product.

Jan. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co., which has introduced five new electric-powered models in the past year, expects its sales of hybrid vehicles to surge by fivefold in January to start a record year for the company. Ford will report that it sold more than 6,000 hybrid cars and utilities, led by the Fusion and C-Max models, this month, up from 1,209 a year earlier, the company said today. For all of 2012, Ford came within 500 hybrid deliveries of its record, set in 2010. "We are looking toward 2013 as being a record sales year for our hybrid vehicles," said Erich Merkle, Ford's sales analyst. Of Ford's hybrid sales last year, 55 percent occurred during the fourth quarter, he said. Read more: http://www.autonews.com/article/20130130/RETAIL01/301309722#ixzz2JUzrNefP

I mentioned this before but concerns over battery cooling during charging in my 100+ garage during July-Sept gave me concern. My Passat TDI is our road trip car so cargo space wasn't an issue. Plan to lurk in the C-Max Energi forums for Arizona and Texas owners and their experiences with summer charging. Can always upgrade later. :)

MFT with USB jump drive indexing problem solved
darrelld replied to valkraider's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I can take the same 160gb iPod Classic that chokes in MFT and use it in my RNS510 without a problem. Yesterday I simply wanted to change from one playlist to another and the MFT permenantly stuck on "Reloading"? My right dash display would show the playlist with the correct selection and you could hear the material playing through the speakers but MFT was frozen. You would think that as an SQA baseline they would test an iPod Classic. -
http://www.plugincars.com/c-max-energi-plug-costs-less-hybrid-after-incentives-126244.html C-Max Energi Plug-in Costs Less than Hybrid, After IncentivesBy Brad Berman · January 28, 2013 Here’s a new twist on the price premium argument against buying a car that plugs into the grid. Ford priced the plug-in version of the C-Max so close to the conventional hybrid version that—after considering federal and state incentives, as well as trim packages—shoppers can drive away with the plug-in at virtually the same price. As usually, the devil is in the details. With three different add-on premium packages available for the C-Max Hybrid, shoppers with sharp pencils might make a different argument. But considering that a loaded C-Max Hybrid SEL tops out at $30,000, and the base price of the C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid is $33,745, the difference in the price of admission for the two vehicles is less than $4,000. When you subtract a federal tax credit of $3,750 for the Energi, and a $1,500 cash rebate from California, you actually come ahead from Day One with the plug-in model. Every day after that, especially for drivers with commutes within the 21-mile EV range of the Energi, the cost of electric fuel is less than half the cost of gasoline. Also, the estimated efficiency jumps from 47 MPG in the hybrid, to 100 MPGe in the plug-in. (For now, let's leave aside higher resale value, or external benefits like reduced emissions.)
