According to the manual the inverter is water cooled so that should help with reliability.

Two things kept me away from the Energi; 1. How the air cooled batteries would withstand Texas summers 2. The uncertaintity of getting the tax credit. One big plus I see for the Energi aside from the larger battery is the ability to stay in EV mode up to 85 mph. So highway driving should see better FE. Not certain how much the additional weight will offset the added EV capabilities and it will be interesting to see what the early adopters report.

I purchased my C-Max with X-Plan and got the $1000.00 incentive in addition.

Good info on drafting, will try that on my next highway trip.

Anyone noticed a problem starting in Reverse?
darrelld replied to CNCGeek's topic in General Discussion
My push button start 2012 Passat TDI, previous push button start 2006 Lexus IS, and my step daughters push button start 2012 Golf TDI all require(d) pressing the brake before starting. -
What kind of mpg are you getting and under what conditions?

Congrats, interested in hearing what you think during your trip.

Gentex Electrochromatic Mirror Installation
darrelld replied to dtorres's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Thanks, I can use those power locations to attach my Valentine 1. Now just need find mirror bracket mount for the V1. Don't like using suction cups the Texas heat kills them. The Visor mounts obscure microwave and Lidar signals. Looking for something like this to fit the C-Max. http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/valentinemount.html I installed a Gentex mirror on my Jetta TDI, they are excellent products. -
Navigation and Phone Contact List
darrelld replied to Dlcrouch's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
You can't set the address as a destination, tried and failed. There is some lengthy discussion about this on some of the other Ford Sync equipped model forums. Seems to be a problem with (Microsoft) Sync. The easiest process I have found is to copy the contact address > paste into the Destinations Mobile App > Send to Sync > Open the info screen on your C-Max > Connect to Sync > You will be prompted to download your address > Set the address as a destination. From there you have the option to save as a favorite. -
I knew about the Chapter 11, but we are talking about a car battery. Not really expecting long term maintenance or parts availability from that.

Probably a cost consideration, I plan to replace my lead acid with one of these if there are problems; http://www.a123systems.com/lithium-starter-battery.htm

I searched the pdf version of the c-max manual on my phone for "mobility" and found detailed instructions for use. Now whats odd is the vent they placed directly on top of the mobility kit?

C-Max seem to be scarce here. A quick search of SEL models within a 100 mile radius of me sow only 10.

I have noticed various sites try to compare Prius mpg vs the C-Max even though they are in different EPA size classes? https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=33010&id=31767

Sync Freeze Issues (Navigation)
darrelld replied to seattlerain's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I have Sync and have no problems so far. However I do recognize it is a buggy system (Microsoft) and will do this if the lockup happens to me. http://www.fordedgef...rcing-a-reboot/ Have you checked syncmyride.com to make certain you have all the latest firmware? -
Page 75 of the owners manual says; So even leaving the ignition on should not be an issue. The dealer should have performed a load test on your 12v battery to determine if its bad or not. The only way to determine some parasitic drain on your battery would be to get a DC ammeter from homedepot and check for current after the ignition is turned off.

Horn Notification of Door Lock
darrelld replied to darrelld's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Thanks, I saw that in the manual. What I am after is the ability to chirp the horn if you touch the outside handle lock sensor. If you don't touch the sensor correctly the vehicle will not lock. The only way to know you have touched it correctly is by some time of notification. In the case of the C-Max the parking lamps will flash and you can hear the locks engage if the ambient noise levels are not too high. In urban settings in with direct sun on your parking lamp covers its almost impossible to hear or see if your doors have successfully locked. I don't really want to pull my fob out of my pocket to lock the vehicle, this defeats the purpose of the keyless system. -
Has anyone found a way to set notification of door locking. In urban areas with traffic noise in direct sunlight its difficult to tell if the doors lock on touch. Can't find this anywhere in the owners manual or in the vehicle settings? Every car I have ever owned with touch lock doors allow you to set notification of successful door locks.

Congrats on your new ride.

Are you using ethanol mixed fuel? I can't find any stations near me that have straight gasoline. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/ethanol.shtml

At least 1 owner seems to be exceeding EPA, 55.2mpg average in city driving; https://www.fuelly.c...r/cmaximus/cmax

Congrats, its all about a way of thinking. I had a Lexus IS350 prior to going the fuel economy route. At 5.5 sec to 60 I could beat almost everyone to the next red light where that Prius I left behind would pull beside me at the next light. Rinse repeat. Haven't missed my Lexus at all especially the brake pad bill, the tire bill, and the gas bill.
