  1. On my Passat with remote start as soon as you unlock the car the engine shuts off. Does this happen on the C-Max?
  2. I am not sure skwcrj understands how hybrids work and the C-Max in particular. Think of your battery as another fuel tank, the fuel in the batteries case being electrons. As you drive and the C-Max ICE runs, part of the gasoline stored in the gas tank gets converted to electrons by the on board generator for storage in your battery. The energy stored in your battery can then be used more efficiently by the electric motors in less than 62 mph driving conditions. So there is no direct correlation between ICE gas mileage and distance unless you had some way to turn the ICE on and the electric motors off. The Energi does a version of this with its EV later mode.
  3. The air cooled battery pack in my July 120 degree garage kept me away more than the loss of cargo area. Definately would like to hear from owners in the South on how their Energis are holding up. Maybe Ford has cracked the Thermal code on this one.
  4. Sounds like a dealer add on. My dealer did something similar by charging me for a tint job on the sticker the vehicle clearly didn't have. I mentioned I could go to an inspection station and use a reflectivity meter to prove the vehicle wasn't tinted. They suddenly agreed with my position and had the tint installed.
  5. You scenario is inapplicable because those conditions will never occur in the C-Max. If you really want to know how efficient the C-Max ICE is go test an Energi and hit the EV later button. Even those numbers would not completely apply to the regular C-Max due to the extra battery weight and lower gear ratio.
  6. Tricky issue Measuring fuel economy can be tricky - an issue well highlighted by Ford Motor Co.'s Fusion sedan win of the "Green Car of the Year" at the L.A. auto show. The Fusion hybrid is estimated to get 47 miles per gallon, although early tests by Consumer Reports magazine signal that the Fusion hybrid, like other hybrids that have been tested, has not come near that figure. Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood said the company was expecting to see a wider range for fuel economy on its new generation of hybrids because it is not asking drivers to compromise on vehicle performance. "If you want to drive for maximum fuel economy, the car has the tools. You can do it," Sherwood said. "If you want to drive 80 miles per hour on the highway you aren't going to get 47 miles per gallon." A hybrid is an automobile with more than one power source, such as an electric motor and an internal combustion engine, or an electric motor with a battery and fuel cells for energy storage. JUST JOINED

Welcome, I too am looking forward hearing your experiences with the Energi.
  8. I would push them to give you another C-Max, its had this problem too often for a brand new vehicle. If they refuse get Ford corporate involved.
  9. He has the Energi and it does have 3g built in. Ours do not have this feature.
  10. This happened to me once, logged on to syncmyride.com and downloaded the latest version. I have not seen it since.
  11. Good point about hitting those 110+ temps. I usually go with Huber Optik tint but negotiated with the dealer to through tinting in the deal and they went cheap.
  12. We wanted the Candy Blue but stayed with Silver due to the 110 degree summers here.
  13. Your math is wrong for calculating ICE mpg. A portion of the gasoline energy consumed by the C-Max is used to charge the battery that in turn provides more total range.
  14. Congrats and welcome to the club.
  15. The nice thing about using Sync is you can prestage the destination from outside the vehicle and download the destination later. I have done this the night before and downloaded the next morning.
  16. You can do it but not as you would expect. You need to download the Destinations app http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=33740 . Send the destination to Sync, connect to Sync from your C-Max and acknowledge that yes you do want to download the destination, then confirm again that yes I really do want to go that destination.

  18. Hard to beat Audi/VW handling. The only thing the wife misses about the Mark V Jetta TDI was the handling, but the C-Max is not bad. I'm sure the tires are a big factor and on our other cars I have switched the stocks for Michelin MXM4's. Best tire I have found for combining FE with skidpad tradeoffs.
  19. We traded a 2010 Jetta TDI for our C-Max. The wife would average about 35mpg with mostly city driving. Highway mpg in the Jetta at Texas 75mph speed limits would be around 38mpg. I have yet to take any long highway trips in the C-Max but if it can duplicate the Jetta TDI mpg on the highway I will be happy. RUG is on average .80 less than diesel. The main reason I traded the Jetta was over the HPFP failure issues. Realistically I don't see how any hybrid could duplicate diesel efficiency on longer highway driving given the extra weight of the battery's and motors. I can duplicate EPA in my C-Max because most of our intercity freeways have a 60mph speed limit and traffic doesn't permit maintaining those speeds for long.
  20. Interesting, I wonder why the EPA ignores the numerous articles written by the same publications about how TDI's always exceed the EPA rating by several MPG if they are truly interested in testing accuracy? For example on my way home from work yesterday in my Passat TDI I drove it like I stole most of the way and I still exceeded the EPA mpg avg? Could the EPA be biased and rig the tests against certain fuel saving technologies?
  21. One one of my coworkers has a 2.0 Q5 and I noticed what you said about the space. He went for a ride in my C-Max and liked it.
