since it IS a new car and since it's not expected to have a cracked intake manifold at this time in its life (haven't built up the warranty and repair stock parts yet) and since all the ones made by the supplier were probably already allocated for new build cars....that's why it takes so long to get the part.

most new cars made in the last 5 years have 10,000 mile service intervals anyways. check your official service maintenance book. mine is 10k for my 2012 Passat. and yes the hybrid engines will run less often than a regular gas engine so it wouldn't hurt it to probably go 15k but go by what Ford recommended. the days of 3k services are surely over (unless you want to be scammed by Jiffy Lube). most mfgs will do 5k as a min now.

Tool for the third dimension - mapping route altitude
salsaguy replied to fbov's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
this topic was discussed previously in another thread where someone mentioned the app for their phone to use to plot a profile. many are out there for bicyclists. one aop mentioned was GPS Essentials. not sure if it works on iOS but it does for Android. you record "tracks" and can then view the charts/profile. it's also compatible with Google Earth/maps. check it out. i agree understanding your altitude change during your drive is very important to optimize your mpg. -
I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
salsaguy replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
where in Anaheim? as i drive to work there every day. don't have the cmax but would like to know to help my own mpg in my Passat. i drive the 5 south and get off the exit where it' the happiest place on earth. -
i think you won't have a choice and it will be a mandatory update that you can't opt out of so you will get it done sooner than later. we don't know the details of the lawsuits and/or agreements with the EPA but it seems Ford was forced to do a lot. the update just may be a key of that song with the refund back to the consumers.

Fotomoto's Free DRL Mod
salsaguy replied to fotomoto's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
yeah after a lot of hot summer days that tape will become very gummy and sticky and a big mess to try and clean off. -
i think you meant you DON'T top off if you might not a record as a larger number in the denominator (gals) means a lower mpg value.
-
pt Jones, are you topping off when you fill up your tank?
-
you need to start entering your mpg and fill ups data at fuelly.com

i went to the los Angeles one at the rose bowl in Pasadena, ca but havent had a chance to post all my pix and vids and cool stories of what happened to us. see the thread here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2462-ford-ecoboost-drive-event-challenge/?hl=%2Bford+%2Becoboost+%2Bchallenge and http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2125-ford-brings-competition-to-the-customer-hosts-13-city-ecoboost-challenge/?hl=%2Bford+%2Becoboost+%2Bchallenge

2nd %city / %hwy guideline this time broken down at every 1 avg mph change -
From the album: salsaguys pix
Spreadsheet to help you know what % highway/% city to use when entering info at Fuelly.com Use your avg mi/hr per tank -
Andy Id like % hwy/city to be understood by more folks since most dont or just guess at it when entering at fuelly if this table was shown somewhere to the right when entering your % hwy/city info for ref it might help others get closer to the real # see here: http://www.fuelly.com/tip/555/Find-your-true-cityhighway-driving-splits calculations are: Percentage of Highway Driving = 100*(Your AVG SPD for the tank - 21)/(48 - 21) Percentage of City Driving = 100-(Calculated HWY%) note see value obtained above for % Hwy I created a table to show your %city/hwy for each change in your avg mph over your tank if you have a trip computer on your car that shows your avg mph driven over the tank full, you can use this to your advantage as i do on my 2012 Passat. When i fill up, I check my avg mph for the tank and then know if I drove more city or hwy miles. See attached pix/table here is the chart broken down at every 1 mpg avg change instead: hope this helps

Job 3 C-Maxes missing Lifetime Summary??
salsaguy replied to hybridbear's topic in General Discussion
Not good if the remove Lifetime Summary. Why would they care? Maybe they don't want all those early months after purchase low mpgs pulling down the lifetime avg? -

salsaguy replied to mlaurence's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
You can change the settings on your phone so it doesnt dim/darken the screen when it goes it sleep. this is great if you have the phone plugged in to a power source so it doesnt drain it out. not good if you dont. -
Keep up the good work and the posts

Jus A CMax sighting...
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Had an appointment today (Fri 8/30) at the hospital (City of Hope in Duarte, CA). Was looking for a parking spot in the 1st row, the handicapped parking section, and low and behold, what did we see? Yup... a Grey CMax SEL from Galpin Ford with license plate ending in xxxx386. It had to be pretty new based on the 1st two number/letter combinations. I wonder if Jus knows them? Very cool since this is the color/model we are thinking of getting. Cant tell if its a 20x or 30x version though. That's #4 or 5 spotted for me so far. Maybe this was a reminder to us that my wife's CMax will soon be a reality with her going back to work after the holiday and finally starting to save up for the new car!! -
actually our hybrid/cmax guru Jus who was getting crazy high mpgs said he didn't like it and it did make it worse for him as we had suspected it would since they made the change to help the mass market who complained and sued and were getting 35-38 mpgs, not for those here who were learned how to drive the cmax best to optimize its features. seems the secret recipe to high mpg did get messed up now after the update for those in the know. Will take a re-learning to get it back, if ever, for those who could get 50mpgs on a regular basis.

some have posted in other threads that the 2nd half of the tank goes quicker than the first. :( good luck on getting into the club.

Countdown to cutie75 and salsaguy's Cmax...
salsaguy replied to salsaguy's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
too funny Justin... you are a great host and even better poster and a joker at heart. -
more SE issues are partly because the SE is less expensive than the SEL so there are more SEs sold than SELs but we don't have the sales numbers breakdown but we know that from experience.

no way not in a million years. not if i have anything to say about it. that's what my wife was going to get initially since she has been loyal to Toyota and her SUV has been such a great fcar for her to last so long (other urban craft mpg due to the v6 engine and big body) with pretty much zero issues until lately due to its age. it's been a tough sell to have her even think of getting a Ford. and she is still not 100% convinced but after the test drive at the eco boost challenge event last month and seeing as how the cmax is so much nicer in so many ways i should be able to get her to turn to the "bright size" ;) since I'm helping to pitch in for some of the down payment i have a say in the purchase and want too be able to drive it as well :) I'm just very worried about the dealer customer service since she has the best service rep who always comps her stuff out gives costs of her service each time and keeps her happy knowing she is due for a new car and wants her business for sure.. plus they are so close to our home as well.extra miles to Ford dealer and potential for issues with them has me concerned that she will get pissed off and blame me if there is an early defect or dealer attitude issue. crossing fingers big time it all goes well.but saving gas from 16 mpg to anything close to 40 mpg will be great. she loves her SUV and it will take her time to get used to a new car especially one with so much tech in it like the C-Max. she had her suv for 14 years and has no plans to get rid of it.
