very very cool Andy. love to hear you are planning on improvement. how did you find us here by the way??? one thing for sure I'd like to see is after you filter you results it will show you the updated graph with the updated data set you have drilled down to get to so you don't have to manually calculate the info once filtered. keep up the great work. like the VIN verification idea to keep the bogus leeches who try and change the avg due to an ulterior motive on their part.

you can't just look at the 2013 mode.l you have to remove the non hybrids from that sample as they are not the same car or FE numbers. it doesn't show you a graph sadly when you do use the filter to get rid of those. you have to manually calculate by adding up all the remaining ones which is a hassle. it IS like the housing market as FE changes based on location, weather, tire inflation, driver style, change in elevation during commute, city driver vs highway driver, A/C usage, hypermiling or not, updated model with FE software patch or not, etc etc etc.... and there IS a difference between the numbers between median vs Avg. go ahead and run the numbers yourself to see. it's not a staggering number but when you guys are up on the 45-65 mpg ranges a little change/few 0.5 mp IS a big deal.

actual gallons used shown on pump. the dash is known to be inflated by as much as 2 mpg.

Checking MFT version from the car
salsaguy replied to spkehl's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
nice find on the version instructions. i know lots of folks here wanted to know how to check that. glad you escalated it to Ford Corp to squeeze the vice on your dealer. these creator dealers are giving a bad name for Ford. be sure to give them a bad rating at dealerrater.com so others know about their bad customer service. if no-one complains they won't ever get penalized by Corp or lose business. -
if you know the word or code to type in you just put the word in between a set of colons like :secreticonworhere: and then they appear. the trick is knowing the code. :money: :monkey: :pipilongstocking: :white flag: oh well, so much for secret words..... :)

C-MAX Hybrid Forum: How Can We Make This Site Better?
salsaguy replied to C-MAX Hybrid Guide's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
there is already one created by Me a while ago -
best thing to do to help the newbies and those who are clueless about high ice, etc would be to overlay text comments in the you tube video at the proper points so everyone can know when it goes into each mode and what to look out for and to point out the key indicators (battery up/down charge discharge etc) or else make a bullet list of each of the modes and timestamps for each.
-
rapier 1) i didn't see anything go in our come out of EV mode at the 2:09 mark.you sure about that timestamp? 2) For all here, why doesn't the Avg Mpg display show any change? it seems to stay at 42.2 forever. there were times when you got it up to 60 mpg for a while. i guess on a high mpg car like this it takes alot of driving to make a small change up/down?? i like the instantaneous mpg on my car (Passat) where i can see what it is down to 1 decimal while driving. the bar graph thing for instantaneous mpg doesn't do it for me. not enough info for an engineer/statistics type like me :)
-
ehh??? are you joking Jus? the blip/double tap *IS* the negative on the cruise control. what else has a minus on it?? surely you jest. double tapping means reduce the cruise mph setpoint by 2 mph to reduce the engine load.
-
try the empower screen or the engage screen so you can see where the engine kicks in and when it goes in and out of EV mode. stay under the 2nd bar on the left. try to stay in EV as much as possible.

I just picked up my car with all 4 updates........
salsaguy replied to Recumpence's topic in Fuel Mileage
you check by going to the Ford etis site and entering your VIN # to see what updates are available: http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=58BBBCFE98E32D4D83AA184107BDE2BF.fcvas506 -
congrats slam. have a cool one on me and take her for a long spin around town. be good to her and she will return the favor.best part....we may ALL now return to our normal lives and not have to check in here every 5 mins to see if you got it or not :) :0 :happy feet: :worship: :wub2:  happy dance time.

congrats Laurence. keep reporting the good stuff about your Cmax and share your comments and your learning curve/experiences in getting the highest mpgs.

My first day at work in the C-max----Long post.
salsaguy replied to slampro's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
congrats slampro. nice non tech write-up. good to know about the negative as well as the pros. how it saves you lots of cash. enjoy the new car smell. -
before you decide to get the plugin Energi model. be sure to go in person to look at just how much LESS trunk/hatch space you have compared to the hybrid only. it's a deal breaker for most as you can't carry that much in the plugin version. take a test drive and simulate in your head how much you normally carry around each week (groceries, etc) before making a decision. some states offer incentives on tax rebates for the Energi but you need to know the restrictions to be sure you get it all. glad I'm not the only potential cmax owner here doing lots of research.... :. ) welcome aboard. have fun.

spotted a black one on the 5 North fwy on my way home from work and physical therapy today in Buena Park/LaMirada CA. only the 3rd cmax spotting for me. i will post a pix later. they sure we're NOT driving it hybrid style. going 80-85 i had a hard time catching up to get to be able to take a pix. i don't like the look of the black as much as the grey for the cmax.

great article in an online quality mag i read. if you like data and analysis, an engineer type, or just want to save some money this is some great info. it can be applied to other topics as well: http://www.qualitydigest.com/inside/quality-insider-column/how-residuals-can-save-thousands-dollars-on-car-purchase.html

Jus... ok you meant to say 1/4 of one gallon. not 1/4 of a tank left. BIG difference :)
-
no since those are the Asian model cars not available here in the USA.

Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
salsaguy replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
not when this is the standard industry practice used by ALL mfgs to test one car to represent the line with the same engine and powertrain. the hybrid tech differences between regular gas cars and hybrid cars is what hurt them here. hybrid being much more sensitive to the single changes. -
Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
salsaguy replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
before you jump ship and buy a c-max energi be sure to check out just how SMALL the trunk is compared to the hybrid. you won't be going on any long trips and i hope you don't have any kids.... not enough space is the big no no on the Energi. and being much heavier you will lose mpg, responsiveness, and 0-60 times for sure. -

Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
salsaguy replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
and since when is Ford the only one to have done this??? it was stated in another forum that it costs 25-50k to test each car thru the EPA test. where is your proof that Ford is alone? they even said most mfgs do this practice (test multiple cars based on size and engine class) but it's the hybrid tech that makes it more sensitive to small changes. most cars vary around the EPA ratings +/-10 mpg anyways. Ford thought the differences would not be that much different but they were, sadly. lesson learned the hard way yes. they didn't have time to do a year's worth of testing to verify the two cars were vastly different. corporate is always on you to release newer stuff faster and faster. same with the first year bugs. it's a given. they all need time to learn this new tech. it was new to them as well since in Europe it's not a hybrid. don't blame Ford for cheating when you know others have done it too. blame the epa for not mandating a separate test for each car before release. let's hope this opens up the EPAs eyes to their own weaknesses and brings about better change for the industry.
