  1. once again the EPA tests need to be updated to match the current speed limits of 2013 not 1960-1974!!! consumers think the EPA tests ARE done that way but they aren't, then complain when they don't get 100mpg going 85 mi/hr ???!!!!
  2. hate to say it but this is not the sales person job to do YOUR research for you. you're the one spending $30-35k not them. they will gladly take anyones money. get the right tool for the job. everyone knows a plug in does better in town for short trips. gas cars take a while to warm up especially in cold places.you do live in CANADA right!!! are you sure you got the update? they changed the shutters to stay close longer to help out warm up faster.might need to buy the grille dam mod for your car or better yet a block heater. never have i been asked about my driving style or route or miles driven each way when i went in to buy a car so why would you think they would do that????
  3. great find there. good to read in that statement that the EPA is partly to blame for all this. i wonder if they will go back and do the same for the Toyota prius since it has many versions of the similar car (or other mfgs/models)
  4. yes only cmax since the fusion is what they used for the EPA test so its accurate since it has lower drag and more aerodynamics. the cmax will need to be requested separately. they stated this in the article.
  5. wow.very surprised about this.i guess those lawsuit happy folks won even though they didn't know how to drive. it's nice to see Ford step up here. knowing the car is a lesser mpg car WILL make the new customers perception of getting good mpg better I'm sure though (it's a mental thing) without having to try so hard to achieve it even though we know lots get CAN easily get those high numbers without much work if their conditions are good. so we have to wait till December to get our 2014 hmmm long wait but it seems it will be worth it. i wonder how different it will look. every a hood seal. does that keep the airflow from the laminar flow? since they are making changes i wonder if they will have to change the 2014 order sheet or not since these are not options the customer can order but mandatory design changes. with these new changes that means more chances for first run quality issues just like a first model year car..wasn't looking for that in our cmax once we got one for the wife unit. . :( so what will everyone do with their early Christmas present check from Ford. do they just send them out or do you have to come for them?

  10. the high mpg crowd was not the ones suing Ford, complaining and hurting their reputation on their new hybrid cars, so I'm sure they wanted to tweak it to get the higher mpg on the hwy, even though that goes against what a hybrid is about usually.

  14. always better to coast and not stop. there was a recent discussion about this here in another forum recently. remember there is the 2 part brakes (the regen part meaning no friction, and the friction part).having to stop and then use fuel to get back up to that speed is always less efficient.you said he has a Energi which is not the hybrid but the plugin so this will be slightly different than just the hybrid since the plugin can run a long way in EV now mode at the lower city speeds where the hybrid only will only be able to go so far in EV mode (and can't force it to stay there) before the battery runs out.
  15. don't forget that the cmax is a much heavier car, has more drag due to the body style, has more performance tires not eco tires compared to prius, but the biggest difference is the cmax uses a totally different battery technology (lithium ion, compared to old school prius nickel metal hydride nimh). they have to tweak their curves to max mpg for each factor of the car and how it works together. the Prius can get 50 mpg but is lighter (not as solid in turns/performance driving), has no style, and is very old tech compared to the C-max.

  18. didn't they add the power flow car diagram on the big screen in 3.5.1 ?? if so you can tell that way. would be nice to have a menu option to get to the" About MFT" info, like you would be able to check version number on your software on your home PC.
