Jus you'll be dancing salsa style for a while, well not as nice since its only an SE not and SEL Premium like mine but still a big difference. it's like a limo in the back seat. Crossing finger for you that your FE and other updates go week without issue. can't wait to see you post your first 100 mpg tank :)

Renting Prius for Work Trip - Going to Compare
salsaguy replied to nsteblay's topic in General Discussion
i think as long as you are doing better than your previous car in regards to mpg then it's all good. for most here the cmax is doing 10-25 mpg better than their current or former car so can't see how you can complain much. -
great road trip report. it's these kinds of personal stories that really tell the true facts of how a car can/can't fit your daily lifestyle.... and all the special oddball things thrown in along the way.

it is sad about the dealership issues. i had the same issues with crappy VW dealers. many times they didn't do the work they said they did or had to redo stuff. i was not a happy camper to say the least. loved my car but not the customer service experience. and it does start you thinking bad about the car if it gets bad enough. there are only a few VW dealers within 35 miles and the one closest to me moved further away. i had to go thru about 4 bad ones to finally find a good one. not the one i bought my Passat at and not the closest one either but as long as they do it right and treat me right it's worth it to go out of my way a bit. With all the new Ford owners this past year with the success of the cmax and fusion, they need to put more effort and money into the dealer experience but it's not so easy to control them. -
do you have the stock antenna or did you mod it with a shark fin type of other?? as for the off-road issue, better have them reinstall that update.
-
impressive. this chart really shows it best. keep updating that chart.everyone should use that to track their car.

Adair, cool. thanks for adding the odometer miles. so looks like one of the newcomers is the king of mpg who got it on their first or second tank with only 565 total miles driven. call it luck or prior hybrid experience or whatever....still very cool: 48.5 MPG gummizilla (513.8/280.1EV using 10.58 gallons) 565.4 total miles, member since 08/08/13

...or they are using the wrong hookup cable from their laptop to the cars pcm (from another FE thread here)
-
tree, what you want is called an Energi (the plug in version of the cmax) and its more expensive but let's you choose EV now or EV later. :) yeah it would be nice if they had something similar for the hybrid but it won't last long since the hybrid has a smaller battery system, so whatever mode you chose wouldn't be able to stay that way for long.

Renting Prius for Work Trip - Going to Compare
salsaguy replied to nsteblay's topic in General Discussion
nsteblay, i think you can live with the 0.4 mpg less in the cmax for all you get with the cmax in comparison to the Prius, right???? not to mention the cmax gets that kind of mpg with a much heavier body and less dynamic so it's really good for what it can do being disadvantaged from the starting line. and you are helping the USA C economy and jobs. it also has the newer battery type technology in it. -
Just bought used C-Max what updates are needed.

armor, some say that you need 3.5.1 before you install 362 but not sure. might want to check before attempting as you are 2 versions down for MFT. -
welcome MM, hope they didn't take your shorts when you bought it off the show room ( usually loaded with dealer add-ons and over inflated price with no haggling down price allowed). re:your lower mpg, when was your car born/ mfg?? did you apply all the updates your car can get? check the etis site to enter your VIN. what is your typical driving pattern each day to and from work (total miles, and average speed for a tank of gas??)? what is the elevation change from start to end of your typical commute? (can check with route apps or on Google Earth). what is your Cmax coach on the dash telling you for your brake score and acceleration score? use the engage or empower screen to help you learn when the engine goes out of EV mode and into gas engine mode to try and save gas. what is your % in EV miles for a tank/trip ? (ev miles/total miles driven) check out some of the youtube vids on the cmax by user Mpgomatic for some good info read any forums/tips here by users jus-a-c-max or recumpence for the most helpful info to get the best mpgs. do you use eco cruise'? use the ac alot? what is your ac setpoint temp at? do you know how to feather the gas pedal or use pulse and glue technique? if not look those up lots of helpful folks here can help you improve your mpg. car gets better mpg over time after breakin about 3-5k miles. be sure to sign up for an account on Fuelly.com to track your mpgs and gas to see improvements over time. they have tips there as well. have fun and don't worry about mpg to much
-
expect 36-38mpg if you set it to 68 degrees !!! that's chilly. where was she born? Siberia??? try to wean her off it slowly like go to 72 to start (then 74 ....). don't forget most ac units can't go more than 20 degrees below the outside temp without struggling hard and using lots of power. do you use recirc?? if you do you can do with a higher temp and not need 68. if you are using fresh 100% of the time, try running on recirc in the beginning when you start it up and off and on every so often, esp when you need more engine power.
-
barrier, why not get another cmax to replace the lemon/fluke defective one you got? as it seems these are not that common, esp on the brand new ones...
-
don't jinx it. btw, i double dare you to NOT track it for at least 4 hours. how much will power do you really have?? :) :baby: or will you wimp out ?? ;)
-
Gary m, have you tried to use the power flow map on the large screen to help you determine why your ice is running and why its not and why the battery is charging or not? if not then try that for a day or so. note:if you haven't updated to MFT 3.5.1 then you won't see this info screen.

was she happy you copied her with the cmax car, ?? or was she like... "oh dad......silly you...you embarrass me..."

hmm you can also check on yelp. the one i gave you before is the one where they hand out the postcard type card to you with that site on it, after your service and you can rate them. it seems to carry more weight than others. but who knows. -
Jus, it would be nice to also see on the 1st page honor roll list, the total odometer miles that are associated with these record tanks so we can see who got in with the LOWEST total miles on their car (ie, breakin factor) Jus, can you go back and review the pix posted and update the list to include o d o miles? or point out the persons ( 1 man 1 woman ) who had the lowest odo miles and made the club??
-
for sure.they might have come very close as they only used a little more than 10 gals and only needed around 75 miles to get to the almighty "club of 6" :worship:
-
welcome to the cmax club. lots to read about and learn here from the cmax crew. lots of folks getting 50+ mpg on a regular basis. what month was your car mfg?? be sure to check the etis site to check your VIN to determine what if any updates are needed to be applied, although that should have already been done by the dealer before you left. http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=005A700D33AAEBCCAE78E8105806E902.fcvas506
