I have sinned...vent bezel reflection issues
salsaguy replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
if you spot a cop just hit the window down button on either your side or opposite side or both to let in light. most won't pull you over for just tint, they have to get you for speeding or something else first and then they add on the tint issue if tthey notice. some tint places have ticket protection so if you do get a ticket for the tint they will redo the tint job for free or 50% off after you prove to the police you had it removed (since they cite you with a "fix it ticket" like when your light is out.) but even if you have to get the lesser tint any will be better for looks and to reduce hatred and heat than none. i agree that the 3M is the best to go with. had it on 2 cars now. luckily i never got cited. i just pay attention and keep a look out for the fuzz :) -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Jus, you forgot to update the first post with what that 800 mile tank cost you based on your fillup price averaged over those miles. since 80% was in EV then you only really had to pay for 20% of those miles in ICE mode right. "How far can YOU go on $20????" Ford just got a new spokesperson for their commercial. they should do a reality commercial and show the screenshot. even better they should have been in the car the last 50s miles filming you and then filling up and showing the dash screen with the final numbers. Ok its time to retire Jus's number in the rafters for all to honor for the rest of history. -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
if you take a look at each of Jus´s screen shots he took every 100 or so miles, you'll notice that his avg MPG was pretty much the same each time, floating at around 62-63 mpg. to hold that so tightly (within 1 mpg) for 800 miles is even bigger accomplishment. that takes some serious planning and repeating routes (and lots of luck) for sure. master of disaster, that's JusACMax!!! -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid

Jus I was wondering about that since yeah it was high 90s where I was in Anaheim and Whittier so I could only imagine how hot it was on the valley. i don't envy you living their. I'm sure this heat helps the car warm up super fast for 1st cold start but kills the mpgs when using the A/C. it's supposed to be even crazier this weekend so good luck staying cool. what are your strategies to minimize mpg loss in high heat or is it futile? Recirc on A/C and set no less than 73? BTW, you are a hero, rock star, legend now in the hybrid world for sure. and from a 1st time hybrid driver???!!! Kudos and congratulations, we all bow down now and forever to the King no matter what. you have guts, patience (especially driving here in crazy California with whack jobs on every corner messing with your goal). How many days was it in between fills to accomplish this great feat? what was the longest individual one-way trip driven during this fill period? Jus Please... buy some roses and take your WIFE out to dinner to celebrate but don't talk about the car at all. she deserves some special time putting up with your craziness with all of this. rock on dude  :worship: :worship: -
barrier, will you trade it for another CMax that works as designed or a diff car, and if so, which car?

C-MAXes here, there, everywhere.

watch it there test driver, you're in company with a current owner of a 2012 Passat and former owner of a 2004.5 Passat. :) Great cars. yes popular, but not as common as i would like; but that's ok as i like to have a more unique car and not follow the masses. Priuses definitely rule the land here on So Cal. -
i agree zhack, i think it would be useful esp for a brand new hybrid driver. i guess i will have to wait and see just how much we will use it one we get our cmax.

snig, did you plot the "ECO/GREEN" route choice? you can also force it to avoid highways/freeways.

Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
i believe the time number is worthless to track as i believe it includes your accessory mode (listening to radio with car off) time as well, at least in my Passat it does, so might be the same in the CMax. -

...but you wouldn't trade it for anything and wouldn't live anywhere else, at least for the time being. I'll take some quakes over floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and freezing cold snow/rain any day of the week. -

Jus, yeah I know the valley.Used to work in Northridge from 1998-2000 and drove from Glendale to Northridge on the 134, 101 and 118 all the time. don't go to the valley as much these days but I'm glad it's helping your Cmax do is best stuff. You are Sooooooo close. It's yours for the taking -
"Fuel Efficient Vehicle Parking" spaces?
salsaguy replied to Recumpence's topic in General Discussion
most people won't know the difference between an Energi and just a hybrid. most folks don't even know what a c-max is and most haven't seen any/one. the cmax looks futuristic enough that it's easy to pass for a FE vehicle. the ones that will have a harder time is the Camry Hybrid which looks like a regular Camry / good sized family sedan and not like a FE car at all soI wouldn't worry. Park away. I will have to ask my sister about this as she works at a Whole Foods here the valley (of So. Cal.) -
most likely they don't show "pending sale" on the website because they DO want you to come in and check it out and try to get a higher bid or tell you it's sold and then bait/switch you to get a different car. if they don't get you on their lot they have no chance at a sale (big fat commission) but once your on the lot they have a fighting chance, especially if the customer is weak and clueless. No one ever said a dealer has YOUR best interests in mind. if you believe that... forget it," cuz you be dreaming fool. " :)

i asked before but no-one knew how many EV+ locatIons can be stored.i would assume 3 (home, work and 1 other would be common to do) but no one has confirmed, though they did say they got EV+ around their dealer so thats why I assume 3 for home and work for sure. Any one here getting more than 3 EV+ locations in your trips if you have had the car for a few months at least?
-
very good article and very true. different people want different things in their cars.some folks are coming from a car with no tech or bells and whistles so it might be great for them, but for someone coming from an Audi/BMW, they might have a higher expectation minimum and higher standards for quality and design. the key is to a KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS (which of course is impossible to do) and also if you just design for them in mind, sometimes you can't beat the completion or meet the federal and EPA, etc guidelines and specs. it's always a tricky balabcing act the car mfgs must do.

"Fuel Efficient Vehicle Parking" spaces?
salsaguy replied to Recumpence's topic in General Discussion
very cool. but I'm wondering how many will abuse it since no permit/placard is required and no min mpg value is expected. and what will they do it you violate it? there is no legal vehicle code to cite you for. FE is very much subjective to interpretation. A 15 mpg sports car would be more FE compared to the same owners 8 mpg V12 Bentley at home so....who's to say... :) -
and maybe add question 4 to post your lifetime mpg if they don't have a fuelly account shown in their signature.
-
i don't think resetting any of the trip meters will clear the EV+ locations. i think those are stored separately in a RAM type memory once added I'm sure it's difficult to erase. and your Cmax may replace an old location if a new one is driven to more often (e.g., soccer practice for kids each week) as for best prices usually when a new car model is released you always pay a premium due to the high demand and low inventory (SUPPLY). after a few months it cools o ff and you can haggle for a better price when they can't sell them like they used to our when a bad PR issue (low mpg/dead batteries) is spread around the news/web sites.
-
reedmother, nothing wrong with leaving the instantaneous mpg number displayed on the screen and check it every so often. but it's good to just enjoy the car for all it offers.

we were just up to Oxnard this past weekend but didn't see any on the way up our back. -
Jus and Gen's car must be related as they are both getting very good mpg numbers. Galpin should start shipping them out to the places that have those c-maxes that get 35 mpg ;)
-
BigAl, what state do you live in?, as weather plays a big part in success/failure to get good mpgs in the cmax it would seem by all the folks here who share their stories of low mileage issues. either that or driving for the first time in a hybrid and getting used to the differences and using the tips/tricks to max your mpgs

the ev+ locations are the ones you start/stop/travel to the most. in most cases this would be your home, work and your friendly neighborhood Ford dealer if you've had any major issues/problems and had to take it in and they had to run tests/drive your car. per others here it usually turns on within 1/4 to 1/8 of a mile from these locations.you can speed up this process by starting/stopping your car 11 times in the desired location(s). it makes sure to use the battery only (EV) in these zones to improve fuel economy.
