in FL you must need to run the A/C alot due to higher temps and humidity. if so that will kill your mpg quest. do you use any driving techniques to improve your mpgs? do you keep filling your gas tank after the pump has clicked off?

found this guy who put the GasPods on his VW here is his Fuelly numbers before and after installing them. see notes: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/GaryTDI/golf and this is his discussion of his experiences with them: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=354594&highlight=gas+pods up here is a whole thread on them at eco modder site. lots of controversy about these for sure: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/gaspods-stick-airfoils-23114.html

and the ugly and small room in the back seat for passengers Priuses. already happening in San Francisco, CA. see the 2nd story here: http://www.cleantechblog.com/2012/02/san-francisco-doubles-taxi-fleet-while-cutting-gasoline-use-in-half.html and in New York: http://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?14633-C-MAX-Hybrid-Taxi-Coming-to-NYC

if the car had to be ready to come off the line and into the dealer by June/ July 2012, then the EPA testing was probably done sometime in March-May ?? which would account for better numbers although testing is done inside a building on a dyno setup so not sure if they change ambient temps or not. anyone know for sure when the EPA test was done for the cmax? Any way to find out?

What cool hidden feature have you discovered about your C-Max?
salsaguy replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
it's amazing what stuff you guys DIDNT have in your previous cars that most of us take for granted in our previous or current cars now ;) just sayin...yeah i like the sunglass holder in my Passat. haven't been using it much lately as i need oversized ones as of late and the big ones don't fit. you can usually only fit the wire frame ones in there. -
prius would win mpg battle; cmax the range, 0-60, torque and style battles hands down

great mtb, you will be the first here. be sure to open a new thread to track your review and results of these. did you sign up to be an official gaspod team tester to save 40%? if so hopefully they let you use your mpg data already collected on Fuelly so you don't have to start all over for 2000 miles before you can start to use 'em. hmm black pods on a white car... why? don't you think they will stand out too much? (with 9 all lined up on the back of the car.) did you order magnetic or sticky ones? are you going to replace that fishing pole antenna on the road Max with a shark fin type? to me that antenna alone is the reason for the bad drag issues ;)
-
what i mean is will the 1st brake (sudden partial brake or other) in a series of multiple but not complete stop brakes hurt your goal to reach 100% or will it not?
-
the thing about the gas pods are that unless you know exactly where to position then with a flow study map by the company or others it's hit or miss where you can achieve the biggest bang for your buck. better to get the magnetic ones and experiment with different placements than using the ones that are applied with sticky backed tape, and you can't change them around. best to try and find others with your same car and get their real world experience before trying it. you can save 40% on the cost of them (20 up front and 20 later) if you sign up to be a test member on their team and keep track of your mileage before and after installing them; something all users here are very good at doing with fuelly.com or just pen and paper and spreadsheets. i would like someone here to try 'em on the Max and see if they can get the 5% claimed increase.

speaking of which, is the brake score only based on the last touch of the brakes till complete stop, so if you do what Jus said to brake harder to start then let off and then do the slow steady break till final stop that you will get closer to 100%, or is the brake coach score based on all braking in between the final braking including the initial brake and let off?

never heard of a gas pod this site has lots of info and vids on them http://www.gaspods.com/

that must have been a classic moment. I would of showed him up off the line to show him the CMax's torque capabilities. ;)

i don't see a widespread recall happening especially since this group here is only a limited sample of all cmaxes on the road and in sure once they figured out what was wrong ( bad batch of batteries, bad module, etc. ) they would have immediately implemented the change on the assy line to limit more going out and sent a notice to Ford to fix those in stock, most likely without any public notice or awareness that it happened.
-
so recump, you didn't say what mods you planned to incorporate after reading this.and you didn't mention the side view mirrors on the side of Max which is a big no no for low drag.
-
great post recump, yes if you ever looked at solar racing cars like those made in colleges, they have to take advantage of every little bit of aerodynamic tips as smaller solar panels on those cars just don't build up that much energy so they don't want to waste any power that is created, by losing it to drag. the Prius V does has a slightly lower Cg (Coefficient of drag) than the CMax (.29 vs .30, but the regular Prius has a lot lower) so that is one reason the Regular Prius gets better mpg at fwy speeds (above 50s mph) as aerodynamics affect drag as speed gets higher. that's one thing we don't know, but someone might, as what is the speed where aerodynamics really affects drag on the car. i also agree that the C-Max looks better than the Ugly Prius, and will continue to look good in 5-7 years, which is the typical life span of most cars. the Prius looks bad now, just think how bad the Prius will look then when "future" cars will be driving around the roads, some driving by themselves no doubt. great article with pix here where about about our what recump said above is matched in this pdf. http://www.dimec.unisa.it/Leonardo_New/doc/Development%20of%20aerodynamics%20for%20a%20solar%20race%20car.pdf :)

since the cmax is not a corvette and since it uses regenerative brakes the real brakes don't heat up that much or create brake dust, so the larger air openings are not need in this car.no one will try to get 0-60 in 4secs in the Max.

Sirius radio replay alert!
salsaguy replied to RachelnLa's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I'm very surprised at the bad sound quality of these channels for the money you have to pay to listen to them. very muddy sounding in my a Passat. love HD radio sound quality and the extra hidden stations you get. i don't think i have the option to do replay in my car. is that bbutton special?i know about tagging a song but rarely use it. if you do that you get tired of that song much faster.the pop radio stations already overplay songs enough don't they? -
Vanity Plates - claimed, spotted, or available
salsaguy replied to Riddley's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
... chord progression using the 1st 4th and 5th root notes, so if the scale was C D E F G A B, then the I IV V would mean to play C F and G in order to play your basic harmony structure of the song. yes i used to take guitar lessons when i was a teenager and love guitar music but only dabble on my axes (guitars) only now and then.was more of a hobby for me since i didn't practice enough to get really good :( -
someone not a happy camper. perhaps you need some lessons from Jus or Recumpense on better ways to improve. must be colder in your area as the cmax seems to be made for Warmer states

i know gas is very expensive in Hawaii, even more than here in So California. I'm sure they love having a hybrid to cruise around the island. plus HI is all about the laid back life and lots of earth conscience tree huggers there for sure :) just wish they would get some rental cmaxes near me.
-
looks like the C-max isn't the only hybrid that had battery issues. see this article on the bottom section where they discuss one negative about hybrids: http://www.moneytalksnews.com/2011/09/13/7-benefits-of-a-hybrid-most-people-dont-realize-%E2%80%93-and-1-strange-drawback/

MythBusters: Hypermiling techniques
salsaguy replied to fotomoto's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
what's even more interesting and funny is one of the related articles down under that article: http://www.moneytalksnews.com/2012/04/10/goodbye-to-hybrids-many-owners-will-go-back-to-gas/ i wonder how many of these folks changed their minds when they got thecmax. -
sadly only about 20-30 are regular posters
-
why are we just hearing about this now? if it was really that has i would expect more outcry and negative posts about this not the other issues. creaks, buzzes, and other noises on cars are very annoying and unacceptable hmm i hope you all get a fix.
