sadly that do this to compensate for all the techie folks who read and research like crazy and plan and prepare for 2 months before going into buy a car and end up selling it for just over invoice where they maybe make $300.oh they LOVE us kind...... NOT. this practice should not be still around but these dealers will always be looking out for themselves. it's a cut throat industry that is commission based do that will always cause these problems. sorry for your pain. hope your Cmax ends up saving you some gas money to compensate a little

snig, why not set the eco cruise to 63 instead since it varies up/down +/- 5 mph or so? that might have gained you some mpgs. what is the best eco cruise setting to use everyone?

bigal, for you not use a site like Edmunds.com to research the fair market and dealer invoice prices? trade ins and leases always confuse the issue. the Edmunds site also recommends folks on how to negotiate and get the best deals. sorry you got gipped.

my phone was sitting back in my office. i didn't want to take it with me to the supplier. go figure en, that it would be on the day I needed it the most. Today was a great day for another reason as well, since I got my best mpg tank every and my first 500 mi tank!! (see my other posts on this soon). when it rains (which it looked like it was going to do today) it pours.

well it finally happened today... I spotted my first CMax on the road (that wasnt in a dealers lot), that I can 100% confirm (last time I thought I saw one on the fwy but cant confirm without some doubt). Amazingly, it happened right near my work. My co-worker and I were on our way to see one of our suppliers who was having a quality issue that was affecting us. we had just left the parking lot and turned onto the main street. then out of the blue a brand new white CMax turned onto the main street and showed up right next to us on the left 10-15 ft away. sadly, i didn't have my cell phone with me to take a picture of it! This happened today Tues 6/25/13 in Anaheim, CA on Ball Rd near cross street of East St. around 810am. Hopefully we will find out who it was somewhat in the forum. Oh well i estimate I will start seeing them like crazy now..... yeah right :)

Don't waste your money with Premium gas!
salsaguy replied to SnitGTS's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
of course one could argue you could just buy regular 87 gas and add a bottle of Techron gas additive for about the same $5 or less and end up with the same test since Techron is the stuff they use in Chevron (top tier rated) gasoline. Edit 6/25: corrected gas company. was Exxon. Is Chevron -
Don't waste your money with Premium gas!
salsaguy replied to SnitGTS's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
the top tier gas site refers to 24 gas companies, not just 76 so not sure how that is biased. 76 doesn't own them all. -
KAL, yeah, very cool car. great handling. always got compliments. took premium gas though and hard as heck to work on that Mazda engine they squeezed in the engine bay with a shoehorn. shops would give me the dirty look when i had to service it. it was nice owning two Motor Trend Car of the Year (Probe GT and now the VW Passat). sadly don't see very many of those 94-95 Probes anymore, let alone the GTs. ....back to the ON topic discussion :)

that would have been a site for sure.:)

C-MAXes here, there, everywhere.
salsaguy replied to Riddley's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
We drove up from Whittier to see relatives in Oxnard today (Sun), so with a road trip i thought it would be fun to challenge my wife and son. i said "first one to spot a C-Max on the road/drive wins $5". I was hoping JusACMax was out and about in the valley to help us. :) well my 12 yr old son was just about going crazy trying to look out the rear seat window trying to spot one. Lots and lots of Prius'es of course (at one point we saw twin silver Prii side by side!!). A few Focuses as well. sadly we made it all the way and nothing. no CMax'es. since the relatives lived just a few blocks from the Vista Ford dealer, i pulled into their on our way back from the beach to show them to our son and visiting father in law. son had only seen them in the commercials (no money was given since the game was over at that point). they had about 4-5 CMaxes that i could easily see. mostly white ones (not sure if they were Oxford or the other special platinum white though). they prob had more hiding somewhere. we just drove around the lot and then left. they sure do look cool mouth wagering). I would have loved to test one but we didnt have time and had to get back for dessert :p oh well, you guys are lucky to spot so many, even though my area should be swarming with them by now. -
nice job mtb. risk taker for sure by buying before you know it would fit. what were you going to do if it didn't?? luckily you didn't tear the headliner putting it in. hope this helps folks make up their minds about just how big it is inside.

Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
mtb, don't worry you have to take the bad with the good. your doing your part to save gas and the environment and having fun while trying to improve your mpg. you couldn't say that with your former gas burner before the C-Max so... don't sweat it. better days are ahead. -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
yeah asb, if most of your driving is on the freeway/highway at 55-75mph most of the time you will be using the gas engine more with much less hybrid/EVbeing used since the C-Max only goes up to 62 mpg in EV mode, so you will never reap the full benefits of the CMax´s power. Any reason you chose the C-Max or a hybrid in general instead of getting a clean disel car (which is much better for longer trips at higher speeds on the freeway/highway) ? Don't get me wrong, we're glad you're part of the C-Max club but I'm just curious. If you don't mind "only" getting 35-40 mpg on the C-max due to your current driving conditions that is great.it's a lot more than most any other car on the road anyways so it's hard to complain, as long as you know you wouldn't get 47 mpg if you drive >65mph. (so many folks would die to get 40 mpg,my wife included with her SUV getting <17 mpg right now). -
mtb, you rock if you can do a day in the life of a c-max owner. p.s. glad you are a Canon fan like me.
-
snig, did you use the heater/fan to keep you warm? some suggest using the seat heaters instead of the AC heater so you don't kill your mpgs.

funny how Jus and recumpence in their non plug-ins, blow away an Energi plug-in hybrid for range: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/16/ford-c-max-energi-plug-in-hybrid-is-certified-at-620-miles-of-range/?_r=0

great video discussion about Ford, the CMax and the Energi. at about the 19 minute mark the Ford guy John Davis comes in. At about the 50 minute mark there is a great discussion about the mpg in the CMax and one of the moderators totally rips on the hybrid cars and talks about how they can never beat the diesel engines for mpg. highly recommended. lots of info in there and talks about why they didn't bring over the 7 seat CMax, about the active grille shutters, etc.. even though the video has Energi in the name they talk about both the hybrid car and the plugin cmax. I'm sure you will find it time well spent to hear from one of the designers of your car:

New York City taxicabs go C-MAX
salsaguy replied to GreenChicago's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
mpgomatic lives near New Jersey or new York and had one of his cmax videos on YouTube showing how he drove into the city in a rental/loaner Energi to show how good/bad it was doing in pure EV mode. the cam is pointed at him the whole time though so you don't learn as much even though he talks you through what is going on, it would have been better to show the dash close up to show the instant mpg and engage or empower screen. here it is: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=6wub721TrxA&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D6wub721TrxA -
C-Max Energi commercial " How far can you go on $20?"
salsaguy replied to salsaguy's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
bigger battery but not hog up the trunk space is the key. I'm sure many didnt get an Energi once they saw how much space the batty took up and how little cargo space was left to use. Since the Energi was meant for local around town driving < 40 mph, it's not really meant for trips where you pack a bunch of gear into it, but I'm sure that didn't stop some. most 1st time hybrid buyers have no clue why they should get an all EV vs a hybrid vs. a diesel car.each one is good in its own peak environment and not the other and yet they try and make it do things it wasn't meant to do and then complain they didn't get what they expected, instead of blaming themselves for not doing the proper research first. I'm sure the extra weight of the Energi kills it in ICE/gas mode more than the regular hybrid CMax. -
How does Fuelly show up on everyone's posts?
salsaguy replied to C-Maxgo's topic in General Discussion
last time i checked the idea was for your mpg number to go UP not down....so your the cause for why the Fuelly avg population mpg number is going down eh?? ;) -
Sean, what view/ screen are you using on your left screen? Empower, Engage Etc etc?

Thank You Ford for the 3.5.1 and Liftgate!

what is double twist? doesn't streaming music on your phones data plan cost a lot of money each day/month? or do you have unlimited data plans? -
yeah i know what you mean. i know the VW owners love to get together and help mod their cars. when i had my 1995 Ford Probe GT i was part of SCPOC the Southern California Probe Owners Club.we had get togethers and a forum / website like this one. hopefully when there are more cmaxes on the road a few chapters can be formed in the bigger markets like CA ,NY, etc for just this kind of stuff.

Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
salsaguy replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Jus said : "u got it spot on as well salsaguy. Dude, you'll be deadly when you finally get your ...umh...wife's CMax.." yeah lets hope so. i have a feeling once in the car it will all go out of my brain. i can do P&G but to do what you guys do in a hybrid and learn to use those regen brakes will take time for sure, esp when i won't be able to drive it much since it will be my wifes car. that's why helping to pay for some of it will give me some privileges too. and, she did after all get to drive my poor mans luxury car (fully loaded Passat) the whole time i was in the hospital. she drove it more than i did the 1st year i had it since i was recovering at home for a while after i got out as well so i think i deserve some cmax time as well right? :)
