Tips for Renewing Sirius Radio Subcription
salsaguy replied to Laurel's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
yup that's the one. you gonna go for it? -
yeah always check the paper work before paying, actually before sitting down to wait for your car to be ready. most folks have been doing like 2-3 TSBs at once lately.

Correct format to play videos on the screen?
salsaguy replied to xanotos's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
i think you need to use the yellow red and white RCA jacks on the armrest not the USB for video to work. like for a portable video game player or DVD player. -
mtb you sure they did the liftgate tsb? as its not part of 3.5.1 but a different tsb altogether. those that got it said it was an instant fix for sure and only required one kick.
-
hard to believe they could make it read correctly at 5 and 10 but not at others, since it has to be mostly linear right??? but yes you have to weigh it to prove for sure, which is why it's best to stick with known name brands and active stations not a out in the boonies where no one goes.

easy to say NOW jus, after becoming the new range king with a 760+ miles range tank just today ;)

I think I saw a CMax on the way to work today just a little ways from where this very billboard is located.i was driving on the 5 south and in between Buena Park and the 91 fwy I see what appeared to be a C-Max.it was a gloomy overcast day in so cal today and the color of the car was a sea foam green. Does Ice Storm look greenish on cloudy days? itI know there is no other color that is like that for the Max so.... it was in the carpool lane and i was in the slow lane so couldn't confirm the C badge. it was much taller so i know it wasn't a Focus and it was a Ford for sure. if it was a C-max is only my 2nd one spotted on the wild, neither of which I can't confirm 100%

a meguires full wash detail combo kit to keep it looking good for a long time

this is good news especially with more Cmaxes out there.you'd think new owner mpg would be low and push average down but summer temps are helping the beta test early adopter owners as well as the longer break in time on those cars and now with all the updates and TSBs.

sadly this is not an option for us. airports are too far away to make it worth the inconvenience for us. i maybe will call the airport rental agency to see what can be done for non airport locations to get a c-max. i emailed a highly rated ford dealer near me and they said they could let me test drive for 3 hours but i don't want the sales pressure tied to it. just want to rent for 2-4 days and do a full review and test to determine if we get one or not. plus we are 2-4 months from purchasing one so the dealer route isn't the best option due to sales pressure after test drive.

pix pix we want pix!!! and a full report on the signal strength differences if any. nice to know it's also $ 30 cheaper than one for the Prius :)
-
time to go to another dealer if that's the case. with this car so advanced and tech rich, they should be spending more time with you. actually many here on the forums stated they got training on the Sync system after purchase by appointment. ask about that possibility with them.

some stories related to this topic and how to protect yourself from fraud: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=aKne0RTSUas&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DaKne0RTSUas http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/press/gasstation.htm http://www.caranddriver.com/features/the-pump-police-feature http://www.ehow.com/facts_5684842_do-gas-pump-fraud-to_.html of interest: "The NIST shuts down any pumps that measure a difference greater than 3.3 ounces per every 5 gallons of gasoline." of even more concern, and what kills my trick posted above: "While many consumer complaints cannot be substantiated as a result of investigation, a significant number of complaints can be verified, and often uncover problems or fraudulent practices that are not found in routine inspections. For example, California county and state weights and measures officials received several complaints about a few service stations for shortmeasure deliveries. An extensive undercover investigation revealed that a few unscrupulous people were modifying the software for gasoline dispensers so that they would deliver shortmeasure for quantities other than at five and ten gallons, which were the points at which the inspectors normally test the accuracy of the dispensers. In another instance, gasoline dispensers were programmed to deliver short-measure, but when the station attendant sawthe weights and measures inspector arrive to conduct an inspection, the attendant would turn the power off to the dispensers to reset jthe software and deactivate the fraudulent software until after the inspector left the station. " taken from the PDF report I found on the NIST site

in my trick you are controlling when to let go of the pump trigger to stop at 5.00 and 10.00 gallons to do the check, not when it clicks off even if you get close you can still verify if the pump is on target or not you could do this at 1.00 gallon as well but most devices are less accurate at the extreme low and high end of its range, but it still should work. it's just a quick way to easily see seeit is doing the multiplication correctly or not.

I'm sure the GPS and EV+ is looking at your house location as the crow flys and not as an actual route with the V, hence why it kicks on when it does. most see it kick on at 1/8 to 1/4 miles from home. pull up the map on Google Earth and use the tape measure feature to measure the distance from the two ends of the "V" and it will probably be as for others.

you didn't use the trick i suggested in another form. this will also save you money before you fill all the way on a bad pump: when filling, fill to exactly exactly to 5.00 and also to 10.000 gallons (you may need to go slower to stop in time). at 5 and 10 gallons the pump should show a price that is exactly 5 and 10 times the current fuel price. if it's not they have a bad pump or are cheating you and you should take a pix of the pump screen showing how much it's off and report it. if the 5 and 10 gallon price is correct, it's safe to continue to fill it all the way. This is the way the Bureau of Weights and Measures and NIST test pump accuracy Edits:added 5 gal test and ref to WAM and NIST.

DRL / Daytime Running Lights (lamps)
salsaguy replied to Hybrid dude's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
in my previous VW 2004.5 Passat GLX, the forum modders had a way to add DRLs (or disable them and just use front fogs in daytime) by switching out the rotary switch knob in the car to a European switch made by Skoda, which is the European affiliate for VW/Audi. After you changed out the switch on the dash, you could pull a fuse in the fuse bix and then you would have DRLs. Not sure if the same or similar can be done for the Max but i wouldn't be surprised. -
Dale, where did you rent the cmax? I've called all over creation at all the rental places with no luck getting a c-max for a few days to test drive one before we purchase one. any help is much appreciated. what model and package was it? SE or SEL? etc
