We have a 2008 Escape hybrid. From day one(as found in the owners manual) it made weird sounds. Things you will never hear In a non hybrid car. At 80,000 miles it hums, clicks, buzzes, hums, and makes all sorts of strange noises. We have never had a mechanical problem. If performance is the same, and you have no other issue then hearing the sound, I wouldn't worry about it. However a trip to the dealer may make you feel better.

I don't know much about the K&N filter. However, after 80,000 miles on our Escape Hybrid, we have changed the air filter one time($20). We take it to dealer for all service, and follow their recommendations. Only once have they told us it needed replaced, and that was about 20,000 miles ago.

Sorry about that.

Yes, tint is a must here. I don't care what color the car is, tint is very helpful in the desert. I made sure to get remote start so I could cool it off some before I get in. I also like the tint in the mountains where I am from, Colorado. I haven't decided about tinting the roof yet, though most likely will do it. I have a friend who has a show car, that wins often. He had his roof of his XB cut and has glass from front to rear in it. I have talked to the shop where he gets his work done about making the pano roof on the Cmax able to open. He said we have to see after it comes in if it is possible, and how much it'll cost. I have asked Ford warranty dept. about warranty. They said that it won't void it, but if the aftermarket part/install fails, and affects a covered part, then that part would not be covered. I plan on checking into it once the vehicle arrives.

It's not about showing up the dealer or what not. Over the past 20 years my family have bought about 20 cars or so, mostly Ford's, mostly brand new, mostly from this same dealer off the lot. This is the first time we have ordered. Matter of fact we just bought a used car off their lot a couple days ago for our daughter. I have spoken to the sales manager, and he understands. He agrees that Ford should do a better job allowing customers to follow their order. He thought it was funny(and kinda sad) that I could track it better than he could. He has told me that he would update me as soon as he got new info. I told him I would do the same. It is a good relationship, and the dealer is not showing any signs of being upset. Our service advisor loves that we are so informed about our car. I taught them more about the Escape hybrid(from a customer point of view) then they got from training.

I really like the way the black looks on this car. Yes there must be more. :detective: Everyone I know is telling me I am crazy for getting a black car, with black interior, and a glass roof....In El Paso.

I waited until after 5pm on the day the window sticker became available. After not hearing from the dealer, I have emailed him. I told him I was going to give him an update. ;) I told him the sticker is available, blend date is 7/18, and eta is 8/15.

While waiting four our Cmax to be built, I was watching some Cmax videos on youtube. Came across this one of a side impact crash test, and thought it was interesting enough to share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxAUSHlkS9A

Can you run all Electric when you're out of gas?
slampro replied to armoredsaint's topic in General Discussion
Can't speak for the C-max, as we are due to get ours within the month. However, I can tell you that I have done it several times with our Escape Hybrid. I have gone past 0 to empty to the point that I was running on battery for a block or so. The engine powered me for about 10ish miles before it cut off. I stopped at the next station that was about a city block away. Didn't want to test beyond that, as the hybrid battery was very low. The C-Max is based on the same hybrid system as the Escape. The C-Max is upgraded, and performs better. I would assume it would be roughly the same as far as your question. -
There is only one topic in this section. Does anybody own a black C-Max? We should have ours within a month. I was hoping to see some pics of black ones here. I'll post some pics of ours when we get it. :needphotos:

We ordered May 9. It is set to be built July 15, with eta of 8/15. I got this info and our vin from the Ford twitter mentioned by Madmanmoon. I got it from them before the dealer had the info. The dealer has verified it, but cannot verify the delivery date. Ford twitter said our window sticker should be available by 7/13. As of yet, it is not there, and I get the same message as the OP.

Got this response from Ford today: "Hello Mark, My name is Alexine and I am from Ford's Customer Relationship Center. I received your email inquiring if the warranty would be voided when you convert the fixed sunroof to a movable sunroof on your Ford C-Max. To begin with, thank you for taking the time to write to us. The installation or use of any after-market product will not necessarily void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. However, if the after-market product fails or causes a Ford part to fail, the cost of the repair and any related damage(s) are not covered by your Ford warranty. Also, modifications to your vehicle could result in its not meeting either Federal Emission Control Standards or any applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Ford Motor Company does not recommend changes to our products. Only changes that have been thoroughly tested and approved by Ford Engineering should be considered. In this case, Ford part numbers will be issued and parts made available for purchase through our dealers. Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. Alexine" Now I have contacted a couple shops for estimates. We'll see what happens. I just might have the only Cmax with a working sunroof(that I know of).

I have been looking around a bit for some info about this. We expect ours to be delivered to us sometime around 8/15. We ordered it with the sunroof. I figured I'd be fine with it not opening. I use the one we have in the Escape hybrid quite often. As the time has gone by, I find myself wondering your exact question. I thought to myself that it might actually be easier to get a functional sunroof installed, since the area is already prepared for a window. :headscratch: I think I might start asking around to see if it is possible without breaking the bank. I will have to contact Ford first, and see about warranty issues. But this is something I am very interested in.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I have been driving a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid since July of 09. It has 79,000 miles on it. From my experience I can tell you that it makes all kinds of weird clicks, buzzes, hums, and such. At first I wasn't sure what any of it was. I remembered reading on a FEH forum that hybrids can/will make sounds and noises you may not be used to. Partly because of the hybrid components doing their thing, partly because you are used to the gas engine masking most other sounds. Over time, probably somewhere around 10,000 miles, I got used to the noises. Now when I hear them, they make the Ka-Ching sound in my head. I know the hybrid components are working, thus saving me some money. I listened to the video in this thread, and it sounded kinda like my Escape hybrid. I cannot comment about a Prius. I have never spent enough time with one. Looks like we might be keeping the Escape, and will have both generation Ford hybrids. I kinda like the sound of that.

I used to drive a cab in Denver. I can say that I paid for gas, the company paid for maintenance and repairs.

I just signed up at that site using the vin. :happy feet: I am not really trying to throw anything in the sales managers face. I do however want them to know that I know what I am talking about though. I don't like it when I know someone gives me false information. I feel like some progress has been made today, no thanks to the dealer. Many thanks to this forum!

Below is the email I sent him along with the response.... My email: "I don't quite understand. As you know I have been in contact with others that have ordered a Cmax. I know of two people who have ordered as much as 2 weeks after us. They both say they have a vin number issued, and an eta. Build dates one is the 11th, the other said theirs is scheduled for the same day as ours . I don't think they have any reason to be lying, nor do I think you are. Searching past posts from people who have ordered, going back to Jan. of this year, there are many posts of others having a vin 2 weeks or even more before the build. I have been to and visited many many forums for Ford cars. I have been on the FEH, F150, Ranger, Cmax and even Mustang owners forums. On those forums there are ordering/tracking threads. I don't understand why on all of those forums people are reporting getting a vin number as much as a month before the actual build. After talking with some of the other owners, they informed me about @Fordservice on Twitter. I Sent a private Twitter message to Fordservice. They have told me that my ETA to dealer is 8/15. They have also given me a vin number of xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Ford could do a much better job at allowing customers to track their build. I can track a $10 book order from Amazon, much better and easier than a $30,000 car. " Response: "Mark, I completely understand your frustration in this matter. It is possible that they are checking directly with Ford the way you did. I cannot confirm the VIN# you have given me as of yet through my system as being yours, however if that is the information Ford gave you, I would have no reason to doubt it. Rest assured, everything I have told you in this process is the truth. I have no reason to be untruthful to you or anyone else. I can only provide you the information Ford provides the dealership. I believe it to be a bit premature for them to have already given you a dealer ETA, especially with the transit issues Ford is currently facing, however that information did come from them. I would not bet money on that ETA at this point before the unit is even produced. But then again, that is your choice. You can search the vehicle threads and obtain whatever information you wish. I will only give you information that comes to me through official Ford Motor Co. channels. I have sent an inquiry to Ford and forwarded them a copy of your email. As soon as they respond to my request, I will be in contact with you." Update: Got an email today 7/3. Dealer verified vin # .
-
Thanks for the Twitter reminder. I read that somewhere else but I guess I forgot about it. I contacted them today and they said it has an eta to dealer of 8/15. Waiting to see if they have info on the vin. Thanks! Update : Got a second response from @Fordservice on twitter. They have given me a vin number. I have emailed the dealer (included the vin #) questioning his statement that the vin is issued on the day of build. Waiting for response.

He is the sales manager at the dealer. I have told him in the past that I have been in contact with other people who have also ordered via this forum. I am going to send him an email telling him that I have seen information to the contrary. Not only on the Cmax forum, but other Ford model forums as well. Others seem to be able to get their vin numbers weeks before the build date.
-
I emailed the dealer yesterday asking if we have a vin for our Cmax that is scheduled to be built on 7/15. This is the response I got. " Hey Mark, The VIN is issued the day the vehicle is invoiced and built. The build date is still scheduled for 07.15 and nothing has changed since the last time I checked the order, everything seems to be moving along as scheduled. It is possible a VIN may be available as early as the 14th depending on what shift it is scheduled to be built during. But unless the production date is moved up, the VIN# won't be available before then. I will keep monitoring the order and advise you of any changes. If you don't hear from me it means nothing has changed. As soon as I get a VIN# for the unit, I will email it to you. Thanks and have a great weekend!"

We ordered our sel on May 9th. Today we learned it is scheduled for build 7/15. My dealer sent me a screenshot of his order inquiry screen. We ordered remote start. In the options it is listed as 66R. I guess that means ours will be factory installed.? I would prefer it to be done at the factory.
-
We ordered on May 9, 2013. Found out today it is scheduled to be built 7/15. Only time I have gotten an update is when I have contacted the dealer. I have gotten an answer everytime, but I had to call them to get any update so far.

I don't take a lot of road trips anymore. But I am thinking when we do,I just might have to get a cartop carrier and put a donut spare in it. I like to drive at night mostly, and don't want to be stranded on the side of the road with the wife and kids. Yea, it will probably affect the mileage, but at least I'll feel better. If it happens in town, I will just use the F150 and tow it to be fixed myself.
-
Yeah, I've read the manual cover to cover at least twice now. Will have to do it again once we get the car, and can get touchy feely with it for ourselves. I've watched a ton of videos on youtube, reviews, experiences and such. I have watched the ford tutorial videos. I have read lots of stuff here. I am just waiting, one day at a time.
