Just got an email from my dealer :mail: I have a railcar number!!!! Maximal has left Detroit. :yahoo: :drop: New eta of 8/14-20 :happy feet: But go figure, the latest entry(8/4) says it is delayed :redcard: Due to "Conveyance Mechanical Failure" :swear: :rant2: New eta is TBD :nonono: It is on Canadian National Railways, didn't think I would be able to track. called the UP number, as they are the ones said to handle west of the Mississippi, no luck there. :detective: I called the CSX number, and got an update. Called UP line, no information available. - 11:00pm- I have learned that Gibson is a county, and that there is a railyard called Gibson just outside Chicago in Hammond. The UP line says "Ramp Parking information not available for this equipment". So, I am guessing it is in the Chicago area. (Central time) 8/7 - 4:45pm - Arrived at Blue Island, ILL. - No eta. Still in Chicago area. 8/8 - 4:20pm - Received at interchange, Blue Island, ILL. On BNSF. No eta. Yes. It is version 3.6.2. You download onto a usb drive, and then install yourself. If I am reading it right, if you don't have 3.5.1, you can skip it...download this, and be up to date. I could be wrong on that though.

Just logged into my owner site. Clicked the sync link, and it said there was an update available. Our car was just built on 7/19, and we don't have it yet, But this was there.... What’s included in this update? DA5T-14D544-BD Gen2 - V3.6.2 The latest SYNC® update includes all of the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits, such as: Information display on the homescreen for HD, Sirius (if equipped), and FM radio sourcesSimplified graphics and improved usabilityEnhanced voice destination entry for SD Card Navigation (if equipped)Improved Navigation vehicle positioning (if equipped)Rear view camera guidelines set to ON by default (if equipped)Updated SYNC/device compatibility informationThe installation of this update will take up to 30 minutes to complete. Be sure to keep your engine running, not in accessory mode, throughout the entire installation process. Turning off your vehicle during the update installation will disrupt the process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you begin the installation process, you may drive your vehicle while the update is downloading to your SYNC system. If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you will need to temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle Shutdown (AEIS) component before beginning the installation in order to prevent your vehicle from timing out and shutting off the engine before the software update is complete. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your left-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. (If you do not see this setting, there is no need to make any changes before starting the update.) Alternatively, after initiating the installation, you may drive the vehicle during the update process to avoid the engine shutting off. The AEIS will automatically reset to "On" the next time you start your vehicle. Please note: During the update installation, SYNC will temporarily appear to not recognize your mobile phone or media device. This is normal. When your system has been successfully updated, SYNC will display a notification saying, "Installation complete."

Guess what I found while I was cleaning up under the bonnet...
slampro replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Again, maybe it's just me, but that pic does nothing for me to tell me where your from. I see you're in CA. I just never heard of a bonnet on a car. -

Ah, OK. Thanks. I was thinking he was referring to the grill/bumper area or something. I saw it when originally posted, and was :headscratch: . -
Safety of C-Max in a rear impact collision
slampro replied to MacMahon's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I know when we were looking at buying our 08 Escape hybrid, this was a question we had. I did some research at that time. I learned that emergency personnel(across the country) have been training. They were training for dealing with hybrid vehicles. I remember when we first got it reading news stories of rescue crews weary of approaching hybrids. It has been 5 years since then, many hybrid vehicles are on the road now. I do not hear any of those stories anymore. This is true. I know where it is on the Escape. But as I do not own the C max yet, I do not know where it is. On the Escape it is under the cargo carpet, a big orange dial switch. -

Maybe it's just me, but what the heck part of the car are you calling a "bonnet" . In my 42 years, I don't think I have ever heard that word used to describe a car. -
I'm happy for you and jealous at the same time. Ugh, we ordered a week before you and ours is still at Received - C257 (Autoport Limited ) Ramp 59, Dearborn Truck, MI Aug-01-2013, 13:04 ET ETA Aug-19-2013 Aug-25-2013

Yea, I went to the other dealers website, and got into an instant chat with a rep. Next thing I know a salesman calls me, after I told her to have them email me. The same sales guy I talked to in December about getting a C max. They liked my build so much they ordered it for their lot, but our financing didn't work out. They still got that car, and sold it within a couple weeks of it hitting the lot(I kept an eye on it). Now they have another ;) . This guy confirmed they don't trade with others in the same market. I told him, "Yea, that's too bad, your dealership has really changed since the family sold it. I'll just wait for Casa(my dealer), but thanks for calling." This is where our car is Received - C257 (Autoport Limited ) Ramp 59, Dearborn Truck, MI Aug-01-2013, 13:04 ET ETA Aug-19-2013 Aug-25-2013 My dealer said he has it flagged to check Monday for railcar number. I have tried to find info for "ramp 59" and Autoport. Autoport is a huge parking/distribution lot used for vehicle shipping. "Ramp 59", only info I find is kinda worrisome. Some old posts on other forums, people talk about vehicles spending weeks at "ramp 59". Some comparing it to the Bermuda triangle.

Inconsiderate people spilled cola on my car!!!
slampro replied to spyburn's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
Fotomoto and a couple others have used this product. Seems like it might have helped a bit. http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-coat.html They say it is holding up well. I will probably try it as well. I have had to clean soda off my Escape. I just washed it all off, as you did. Here is the thread about Opti-coat. Fotomoto has pics there, and his car looks great. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1295-opti-coat-any-one-try-yet/?hl=opti-coat- 6 replies

I know, I know. We do not plan on living here forever. We expect to be moving back to Colorado within a couple years, and plan on keeping the C max.
-
Well, that was short lived excitement. The dealer who has the car is owned by a large automotive group, and will not trade with other dealers in the same market. It used to be owned by a family, and was a good place. This is the same kind of attitude from that dealer that soured us in 08. So we will continue to wait, because we will not buy from the other dealer.

I was just browsing around online at local dealers. Then all of a sudden I see a (rare in these parts) black C max. I look, and it is the same build as ours, minus remote start. It is at a different dealer, who we don't really want to buy from(various reasons). It was built on 6/24/13(about one month before our order) so it needs the PCM update. I have faith in the dealer I am working with to be able to handle the update, and install remote start. I sent him a late night email asking if we could get it as trade for our order. If he gets on it first thing in the morning, I might be driving a new C max tomorrow. :woot: :woohoo: :bliss:

That's great! I have a new eta of 8/16-8/22. I have not yet been able to get the railcar number.

I have been with my wife for 20 years. We have an 08 Escape hybrid. It was not until the time we got it, that I actually discovered that my wife has a lead foot. In all of our other cars we really had no way to monitor FE, outside of hand calculations. Well, neither of us are going to do that. The FEH gas mileage is rated at 34city, 31 hi way. When I drive it, I can get from 35-40 in town. When she drives it she gets 25-30. At one point early on she asked how I do it. I showed her the hybrid driving screens on the nav. I then tried to explain some techniques. She replied "I just want to get where I'm going" She doesn't touch any buttons(outside of using navigation). She is not interested in the technology. She doesn't even try to get better mileage. I have come to terms with that. Now that we are getting the C max, :airquote: we have agreed. Since she doesn't use and doesn't want to use the technology in the Escape, she would be lost in the C max. It will primarily be my car, and me driving. I guess the fact that we are trading in the F150 helped my case. I would say, as Spyburn and others have, if she asks, fine. Show her some tips(start off simple). Otherwise, just let it be. Rest easy knowing that if it was any other car, she'd be getting low 20's or even teens mpg. At least with the C max, it will save gas whether she wants to or not.

Ford twitter just told me ours is "In Production", with no ETA. But I know it was built 7/19. It had an ETA of 8/11, at one point it was 8/15. I just sent an email asking the dealer if there was any status change. Ford has seen an increase of 400% in hybrid sales over last year. I understand a delay in production because of that. I can understand making sure the new ones off the line are "problem free". They have been sending them out though. In my impatience I have searched many, many dealer inventories across the country. Trying to find one just like ours(only seen like 2 or 3). I have been looking at build dates. I have found some built throughout June, and as recently as 7/8. His was built right at the time they started doing the FE update in factory. The factory started doing it on 7/9/13. Just called the Ford 800 number and they said the status was updated today with an ETA of 8/18-22. About a week behind the last ETA. I can handle that...I think.

Safety of C-Max in a rear impact collision
slampro replied to MacMahon's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I have done extensive searches for information. I have stalked forums. I have read tons of articles, watched hundreds of youtube reviews, test, and etc. I have posted crash test videos, but can not find one for the rear impact.... yet. I am so bored waiting for our car to arrive. -

I misread and made a comment, that I removed. I have an 08 Escape Hybrid, and have gone as much as 1000 or so miles(more probably) after that has shown up. Although it was a couple years old and had a few thousand miles on it.- 32 replies
