The Hybrid's HV battery requires conditioning (cannot be left low) for long term storage. Even the 12V battery is already 2 yrs old and it didn't get regular charge cycles. For me I wouldn't buy this car if it was forgotten. Tires flat spot and rubber age with time and weather. Fuel also becomes stale on top of other fluids. However, there is 8 yr battery warranty so mention this to the dealer and see what they say.

Activate Engineering Test mode by pressing the left "OK" button on the steering wheel while turning the key to ACC, hold the button until you see a message on the dashboard. scroll up to see the battery reading, it should be 12.5V when off and about 14.4V when the car is ON.

The turning radius does suck but it shouldn't kill the deal. I do have a gripe about the steering ratio which is too quick for highway use. However, you can expect sports car handling from this chassis. I used to own a MR2, Celica GTS, 07 VW GTI, etc..... and I find the CMax handles really well. I drive on high speed mountain roads every day and have no problem keeping up or even passing expensive sports cars.

I rented one from Hertz too and bought the car based on my one day test drive

I took a look and the only foot vent I found is above the pedals. It is disappointing.

I have driven many cars before and I find the CMax Front Foot heating from the lower vents are weak. Am I missing something? Is there a loose duct somewhere I can identify? My toes were freezing this morning while driving.

Get a spare tire from the local scrap yard. I have one strapped in my SE's trunk and still have decent trunk space left. The compact jack from VW fits under the floor nicely. I also didn't have any 12V battery failure since new or 8/2013. Skip the MFT. The stock stereo is adequate and probably easier to use.

I want to know if I can simply install Leather seats from the C-MAX SEL and expect the driver's side power motor to work. FYI, I have an SE with cloth interior and no seat heaters.

For some reason, My CMax SE costs more to insure than my former 2007 VW GTI, despite a lower MSRP. There are a large no. of CMax Taxis in NYC. I wonder if that makes my car vulnerable (for parts).

I ordered one after seeing this thread. Reasons: 1) Carpeted dash reduces glare, and glare is an issue with the CMax. I use a mat to reduce glare but it slides off when I am doing hard cornering. 2) I had transported and will occasionally transport long objects in my car including copper pipes; rugs; wood and gas pipes. I had to put carpets on top of the dashboard to support them. 3) The price is reasonable and worth a try

Disappointing Sighting

Dunno about Florida but in NYC's the electricity rate can be very high it may be better off just filling it up with regular. -
Disappointing Sighting
cmax-nynj replied to ScubaDadMiami's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
It could be due to tax incentives since after the Fed and possible state rebates the cost of an ERG is less than a similarly equipped SEL. Besides, how many SUV or sport cars' owner know what their cars are capable of? -
I haven't found a set of leather seats locally. However, the Escape seats look like a direct fit. I am still looking. I want leather & power and unfortunately I bought an SE model.
-
The seats are fine whether SE or SEL. However, the telescopic steering wheel has limited range of motion and the pedal positions are not very good resulting in less than ideal driving position. The stupid angular dash kills some knee room for the driver and I think the shifter wastes too much space in the middle. I suggest you look further than just the seats themselves.

Do the mudflaps work well for keeping the painted body panels behind each wheel clean?

Consumer Reports April Auto Issue

No issues with dead battery here with the SE, built 7/2013. It has been through 100F and 0F, no problem and knock on wood. I get 50MPG driving in NYC under mild weather condition. -
The CMax desperately needs a rear dust spoiler. I wonder if this can prevent some dust buildup

Suggested tips for cold weather driving?
cmax-nynj replied to ERPriest's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Bought some inexpensive pipe insulation (foam) from hardware store to seal the front grille and I now have good heating and MPG. Going to work from NYC --> Upstate NY (more uphill) getting 43.8 and return trip: 46MPG (more downhill) traveling 57 miles each way w/heat on and low to mid 20F air temp. I also let the car run more in ICE in the beginning to get the engine temp. up for more efficient fuel burning throughout the trip. -
I used to hear Transmission noise when the engine was cold running at about 2K RPM. However, I have been warming up my cars (Engine on at idle) for about 45-60 secs. and the noise has not been heard since.
