From the testing I have done temps go up when using more than 2 bars for a extended period of time. FMT (from my testing) you can leave the center cover on all time just remove the lower one when climbing for an extended period on time. FWY gas mileage is effected by not reaching optimum operating temps above 202*F, Grill Covers speed up the heating and improve the aerodynamics for about 2mpg. Jus try driving with center cover on and remove lower cover up your long grades up to Manmoth and see what happens. :) Paul

Does your state have a Lemon Law? Not sure going with a lawyer was a good Idea, nothing good comes of lawyers in the mix and seems like the Lemon Law has worked pretty good. :) Paul

2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD

Probably not but I did it anyway. :) Paul -
I think that is a better location the way you have it, more aerodynamic. I use that location on Grill Cover. :) Paul

Sounds like something is wrong to me. What level does your battery gauge show? Are you using the Empowered mode on the Smart Gauge? It is easy to see if the ICE is on or not. :) Paul

I could put a spoiler across the two air dams. I'm going to work on that now. :) Paul -
You are going to be hard pressed to come close to Hybrid City mileage and they keep improving on battery technology. The next gen battery will have the same size and we will be able to go ten miles instead of 2. Winter MPG's can be greatly improved(40's mpg's) by using Grill Covers, Oil Pan and block heaters as well as using seat heaters instead of ICE heater from the testing I have done. :) Paul

2014 tire Aero Dams available from FORD

This isn't totally about the savings and fits under the category of Hobby. I was curious if the 2014 make a difference and they're easy to install . :) Paul -
I installed Wolverine Model #9 oil pan heater and it is a nice fit, just the right size. I tried to install the Ford ICE Block Heater, but couldn't because exhaust manifold is in the way of doing It. I will have to read up on how much trouble it is to remove it before I decide to go farther. I expect 3-4mpg improvement on short trips by using both heaters. :) Paul

I finally installed my front Ford 2014 CMAX air dams with two plastic rivets each from AutoZone, easy to do into cover in front of wheels. Will post picture when I can. :) Paul -
Just made another trip to AZ and back, about 3800mi. averaged 46mpg, 62.5mph (top speed in TX I10 of 89mph, 80mph speed limit) with A/C and wind. It looks like I'm getting 47mpg at 70mph on the FWY now and I have a few more aeromods to try out. :happy feet: :) Paul

I would imagine with covers on it wouldn't make much of a difference. IMO I'm wondering if wheel covers would make much of a difference? It is getting to look like I'm close to getting 47mpg at 70mph with mods and drafting. My last trip to AZ I got 46mpg average and 62.5mph average. :) Paul

Try 50psi next time. :) Paul

Good job Snowstorm & Plus 3 Golfer. With the testing I did on shutter operation with out A/C on and new update they don't open until 210*F at slow speeds less than 50mph and 215*F above 55mph. Plus 3 Golfer did you monitor your temps? If they were below 210*F the shutters were closed all the time. Interesting info on GasPods. :) Paul

It might effect cornering, stopping distance and little harsher ride. I will go for the mpg's. :) Paul

Higher psi would be better for wet/snow smaller contact patch. Even tire ware would be an indication of proper inflation psi. As long as you don't exceed 51 psi cold there shouldn't be a problem from Michelin's standpoint. :) Paul
-
I'm not sure I notice any difference. Why don't you try it out and let us know what you think. :) Paul
-
I have been running 49psi 30+K miles (62K miles total) current readings 4/32 outside, 4/32 center and 3.5/32 inside on all 4 tires. With that info I would recommend 48-50 psi for the best tire wear and mpg's. Will need to replace my tires shortly. :) Paul

I'm finding hard to put a number on how much mpg loss there is with A/C use. I think you could safely say 1-5mpg. I think realistically it's in the 1-2mpg range. I just made a trip to AZ and back, averaged 62.5mph and 46.2mpg using A/C about 1/2 the time at least. :) Paul

I just got back from another long trip and I have my same issue with the SOC around 50% when stopping and 15min. later or next morning the SOC is close to full. After filling up, SOC would be full but wouldn't have as much power as you expect, maybe HVB warm. :) Paul
