  1. In the accessory position the ICE will not run. When I got home HVB is always low so apparently computer will not allow the HVB to get so low that it can't start the ICE. It took 15min. to charge the 12v battery enough with charger connected to start the ICE. You can't charge the HVB without the ICE running. :) With the SE leave the car on in the accessory position for for an hour or two and measure the battery voltage and see what you get. Paul
  2. Only roadside assistance is part of Warranty and loaner is up to the dealer, not FORD. Good Luck :) Paul
  3. I'm concerned that someone reading these Post's could get the idea that all dead 12v batteries are caused by the car and I know personally that this is not true. I have had one dead 12v battery which I caused by leaving the car on which is easy to do with keyless system. Yesterday it started raining and I left the windows open a little bit so I had run outside to the car and turned it on without stepping on the brake pedal to close the windows. In my hurry to get back inside the office I forgot to hit the on/off button again so when I looked outside a little later my windshield wipers were going to my surprise. Had another incident more than a year ago when I got home from work, parked the car in the garage and forgot to turn off the car. I had grabbed a bunch of stuff from the passenger seat so my hands were full and forgot to push the on/off button. Just one of the side effects of owning a car that is very quiet when it is on so you don't always know when it is on or off. I got lucky when I went out to the garage couple of hours later and noticed the car on. So in 21 months of owning the car I have only had CMAX operator problems, no 12v battery problems. I'm not sure how you can tell the difference between car caused and owner caused 12v battery problems. IMHO :) Paul
  4. Unfortunately that is an unrealistic expectation, I have my car in today to replace a rear bearing and was able to get ride to work in their shuttle van. I wasn't going to rent a car. For me the time and inconvenience is worth $50 to keep from making dead 12V battery a real problem. FORD will fix the problems eventually. IMHO :) Paul
  5. Most of my miles are FWY Cross Country and last Feb. I went to SF via KS, CO, WY,UT and NV with temps from 20's to -7* with snow packed Interstate HWY and strong head winds and snow. My worst MPG's was 36.7 without the use of Oil Pan Heater. I still stand by my earlier statement. You should be able to improve your MPG's by 4-6MPG's over last winter, next winter. IMHO :) Paul
  6. Is that a good place to put it? :) Paul
  7. I think I have noticed this too. I'm wondering if the evaporator is getting frozen up, because if I go to just vent(turn A/C off) for 5min. and back to A/C it seems to work. I usually don't use AUTO A/C unless my wife is in the car. LOL :) Paul PS: Don't consider this a significant problem, don't use it unless I have too. It's all about MPG's. :shift: LOL :lol2:
  8. I think you have to have 5 Post's before you can PM. :) Paul
  9. Good job! Go to trip and toggle right to get all the enhanced info. It's in the manual. :) Paul
  10. I know what you mean,LOL. In the next couple of weeks I'm going for a 1,000mile tank. I have already done 909mi. and should be able to get to 950mi anyways with latest improvements. I will be going to FL and back. :) Paul
  11. The trick to getting great mpg's if you don't count going down hill is starting with a full charged HVB and ending with it empty. IMO LOL :) Paul
  12. I think that is a good idea. I watch trip gauge fuel used and when I get pass 13gal. I get concerned, the highest I've seen is 13.77gal. and it took 13.9gal. , but I have seen 1 gal. difference though. :) Paul
  13. Either jumper battery or battery charger plugged in at night. Every time you have a problem at least let FORD know and eventually they will figure it out. Hang in there. :) Paul :) :)
  14. My Dealer is the same even when they sell a bunch of FFH, they are finally getting a 2014 CMAX. They really don't know how to sell Hybrids. :) Paul
  15. Frank, you will gain 4-6mpg by using that equipment over not using it during the winter. If you look at my Fuelly during last winter I was getting 45mpg in 20*-30* temps and 52mpg now. All the trips had ups and downs. In your situation I would expect 40-45mpg during the winter. :) Paul
  16. I would definitely get a jumper battery for $50 to protect yourself or if you have a battery charger just plug it in at night so you don't have to worry about it. :) Paul
  17. I would take it to another Dealer if you asked me. Did you PM Ashley our Ford Rep.? She is a great resource and will take care of the problem. :) Paul
  18. My alignment was within spec. , but I had my alignment done at 25K when I noticed my tires feathering and making alot of noise. The Dealer had to replace an actual suspension part because you can't adjust the rear suspension. I had to reverse rotation of tires to wear down the feathering which took probably 20K at least. Now having new tires on my car I'm still have alot of noise coming from the back of the car, so It's going back tomorrow morning to look at the bearings. I've been to my Dealer so many times that I get EV+ now! LOL :) Paul
  19. I would think the lower the center of gravity, the more stable the car would be. :) Paul
  20. So in theory you could have gone to 700miles without running out of gas. Good Job! :) Paul
  21. I rotated my tires every oil change and tire pressure gave even wear for 65K. I actually don't have a front license plate, but showed how it would be mounted on the cover. :) Paul
  22. I make 4 mile trip into town almost every day at lunch time with temps in high 80's and get high 40's to mid 50's normally. Couple of days ago with wife in car, I had to put A/C on and got MPG's of 32& 35, Ouch! I got 53 and 51mpg's on my last two fillups and think I will get 53 on this tank if I can minimize the A/C use. Winter MPG's don't have to suffer much If you take corrective actions, Grill Covers, ICE Block and Oil Pan Heaters that can minimize any loses. :) Paul
  23. I'm replacing my tires today with the original 93V Michelin tires at 50psi. My tires have 65k miles and could have gone to 70k, but I'm doing alot of cross country driving with 4/32" tread I didn't feel safe going any lower. I'm having alignment checked, but have even wear inside to outside and front to back. I think it is safe to recommend 50psi given my experience and the Michelin's max cold temp psi of 51psi. I believe total is going to be around $750 at FORD. :) Paul
  24. It is amazing how much A/C can kill your MPG's on short trips, in the 30'smpg when normally I would be in the 50'smpg's. On long trips the hit isn't so bad maybe 1-3mpg. :) Paul
  25. Still haven't answered the question on how much weight can you put on top of the battery. :) Paul
