  1. My first tank I got 47mpg in Oct. of last year and then it stated to go down with the temps. Which caused me to come up with the Grill Covers. I don't think Ford needed to come out with refund check but I'm going to use mine to improve it. :) Paul
  2. If you go to my gallery and read the info on my Grill Covers or search for Grill Covers threads back in Jan.-Feb. in Fuel Mileage Forum it explains why MPG's go down about 2mpgs for each 10degress F drop in outside temp. Grill Covers have shown to increase up to 4mpg's during Winter lower temps. Paul
  3. Hi susanne, I wasn't sure were the back edge was. I will move mine back to get closer to your recommendation. I was thinking of doing a video of many colored ribbons attached to the back of hatch to see the difference of placement of the gaspods and the air currents behind the car. Paul
  4. The longer it takes you to rack up the miles, the more wasted time you are going to get, lowering your mph vs. doing it in a day or two. Now that I think about it my Garmin keeps moving time, I will need to reset it every time and also it shows average speed too. Paul
  5. Installed my GasPods today approximately 7" before the rear edge. Made sure they don't interfere with hatchback motion and don't hit roof. Will experiment moving them to 10" before the rear to see if there is any difference. They are nice looking units and only took a few days to receive after ordering! Keeping them black for now as wife thinks they match the trim ;) . Paul
  6. I'm sorry but the point was whether you would damage your fuel pump if you ran out of gas. Using your info you can conclude you won't. :) Paul Jus, congratulations great job! BTW you only averaged 19.3mph so the only MOD that would have been helpful was the Grill Covers. Nice going! :shift: :clapping: :yahoo: BTW how many gal. did you put in your tank? Paul
  7. Only if you have a 2 gal gas can "just in case". Looking forward to welcoming you to the 600 club! Paul
  8. Mine is almost a year old and I don't see a problem with mine. Paul
  9. I bought a SCANGAUGE for $150approx. well worth it to see what is going on with ICE, I recommend it.
  10. About $60 w/shipping for magnetic unpainted ones. Paul
  11. You need to get a SCANGAUGE so you can see RPM's etc. I believe I currently can get 55mpg at 60mph drafting and 53mpg without. It looks like I should get to 55mpg without drafting with additional aero Mods including my Grill Covers. Paul
  12. I have ordered them also and should have them in the next couple of days. I'm also on their test program using Fuelly.
  13. Mine has been going up slowly(.1mpg/ fill up), because I have 62 fill ups. It does seem to have gotten better, 52mpg since I up graded. It seems to take awhile before it learns how to do it best. Paul
  14. My Service Manager is checking with Ford to determine the pump's actual operation. The first go around is that the pump stops when system is pressurized or when the ICE isn't running for a few seconds. As soon as air enters the pump, the pump loses pressure and ICE stops and then the pump stops. The fuel pump is on at most a few seconds without lubrication and cooling. As soon as I get a firm response from my Service Manager who is talking directly to Ford, I will pass along the information. I never said I knew better than the Ford engineers that designed it and I'll let them confirm how things work. :love_shower: Paul
  15. When I ran my tank dry, the engine just stopped and I EVd to the gas station and immediately put fuel in the tank. When I restarted, the engine started immediately with no cranking. The purpose of running my tank dry was to see how far it would stretch and find out the exact capacity of the tank when refueling. It is only necessary to do this once...and I am not recommending that running your tank dry should be done with every tank of fuel. IMO I believe the fuel pump shuts off when the ICE shuts off so I don't see a problem here.
  16. Funny you should say that I live in Atlanta area and will be going to FL soon. I usually follow truckers going 65mph on I75 and their are stretches of 60mph for construction. A lot less stress and good MPG's. :) Paul
  17. That is interesting that you were able to stuff .7gal, the most I've able to stuff in is .5gal. You should have ran out of gas so you could find out how big your tank is. It sounds like it might be bigger than mine. Paul
  18. If you click on my CMAX Avatar and go to gallery, there are pictures of my Grill Cover Brochure and Instructions for mounting. Also if you do search for Grill Covers in Fuel Mileage forum, there are a few threads back in Jan. and Feb. If you would like to talk my number is on the brochure. I have one new set available. Paul
  19. Good job, I said you would make it and in fact I believe you could have made 650mi. How many gal. did it take to fill up? Paul
  20. What a waist of time, I hope someone can figure out how to pull questions and answers out of that tweet. Maybe there is some useful info somewhere. I thought these people would have figured out that this wasn't going to work. It would have been better to have us EMAIL them and post an Q&A site. This fells like a PR deal. They had a chance to do something good and blew it. Paul
  21. The CMAX tank holds 14gal which I have run out once and almost once and put 14gal. in it. you could have gone another 25mi, Darn! LOL I have had Smart Gauge say 13.5gal. too. Paul
  22. I know my Dealer ordered a 2014 CMAX about a month ago but don't know the delivery date. I will ask them. Have just signed up to twitter acct. and will see how it goes. Paul
