When I came out of Jack in the Box, saw a Candy Blue sitting next to my Sterling Gray. They looked good together.

Like Jus, I feel lucky that I haven't experienced any significant problems with fit/finish or performance (aside from the wonky clock resetting -- hopefully fixable with the Sync update). I have never had buyer's remorse, or felt like I made a mistake in purchasing this great little car!

Can't personally speak to traction in snow (and not too much rain), but others on the forum have stated that they find the traction fine in snow, at least as good as with any other car. Normal breaking is no problem, just takes getting a little used to. If the Escape Hybrid uses regenerative breaking, then you probably won't see much of a difference (a guess). Get inside and you won't even know that you are lower than you are in your Escape. It's roomy, powerful, economical, and everything else I could hope for. I haven't had any major issues (except for the MFTouch problems that hopefully will be resolved with the update). Best advice: get inside and drive it! Good luck with your decision.

As long your engine didn't cool down too much (and I can't see that it would in the short time in the wash), I wouldn't think your ICE would have to come on at all after the wash.

I wouldn't think the Sync Upgrade would have any effect on the mileage.

If you set the filter to "Hybrid L4" it shows 137, with an average mpg of 39.2. I'm guessing that the others listed on the site are also hybrids (non-European), but even if you take those out we're still running just .1 below the average of the entire group.

Sorry about the problems you've had, Kauai. Don't know what the lemon laws are like in Hawaii, but I'd look into it. I don't believe it's the brand or the model (most people don't seem to have had your bad luck, though some have), but your particular vehicle. Bummer, though.

But that could be 30 miles to test drive!

Mine went up about $70/year (from a 2004 Vue). I pay the same as my partner's 2010 aura.

What I like most about this forum is that people are honest, when there are negative aspects, but balanced as well, highlighting the positives. As I told the Ford people at the Irvine get together, even with the problems experienced, most people love this car. And the people here are just so darn nice! :)

If I hadn't seen a C-Max commercial last October, I would most likely have ended up getting a Prius. The hybrid concept has intrigued me for years, and I was finally ready to trade in my Vue. But the idea of buying an American made hybrid led me to try the C-Max. So glad I did.

I usually catch him on weekend radio.
