Customer Satisfaction Program 15B04
scottwood2 replied to Bill-N's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
That is a real pain to be without the car for 3 months but at least they gave you a rental car. Maybe the mileage is less but there is no wear and tear on the C-Max during this time either.- 63 replies

I don't know how many people I have talked to that say "what car is that" when I say I bought a C-Max. Many people don't know this is out there and what it is. Mini crossovers are hot now and the C-Max (at least to me) fits this category pretty well other than no all wheel drive. Add electric rear drive only to this and you might have something to compeat

Enjoy, it is a fun car and I think a great design.
-
That is costly but the rear bearing on the Scion was about $400 at the dealer if I remember correctly. The part was almost $300. I think the repair is much easier compared to replacing 2 bearings in this quote. Bearing costs are much more now and as you said the life can be less than the older type.

I thought it was covered because it was a TSB even out of warranty but that is not true. Looks like it could be covered by extended warranty but not the standard warranty. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=407478

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of the repair? I had a Scion xB which is a Toyota. I had 3 wheel bearings go in 135K miles. It happens.

Ford to end C-max production at Michigan plant
scottwood2 replied to djc's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I was thinking that this will be where the new completely redesigned hybrid will be made. It is a new car from the ground up and a good time to set up a new production facility. Sounds like the replacement might continue with the C-Max name. From the article at the link below "Ford’s dedicated hybrid is a bit further off, since it’s being reported that it will be introduced around 2019" http://inhabitat.com/ford-and-hyundai-are-both-working-on-prius-killing-hybrid-cars/ -
2016 Order Guide/Upholstery Guide
scottwood2 replied to timwil56's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Awesome, I need this for when my other half drives the car. Now I need a way to lock it in. I try to get the best MPG and I think his goal is to see how much lower he can get than the rated MPG :banghead: Good idea because many just want to drive the car and not try to get better MPG. Using this mode might help a lot of people get better MPG -
Ford to end C-max production at Michigan plant
scottwood2 replied to djc's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I did hear on the news here in Detroit that the plant is NOT expected to shut down. It will still produce a Ford vehicle but not the Focus or C-Max. I hope that is true. I guess we will see over time. -
Possible C-Max owner seeking advice
scottwood2 replied to erica's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I think there are posts on here that say that SE's have more problems but I am not sure that the facts are there to support this. I do think there were more standard SE owners that reported dead battery issues for 2013 models. The same poll shows that as soon as you get the MFT (option group 202A and above) the reports of this issue is much less than the SEL's. Now there are many other factors here that play into this information such as the number of vehicles reporting this. I have heard some say that SEL models don't have this battery issue and that is not true. My feeling is that first year production cars will have more issues than later years. The Consumers Report review shows that there are less issues now that before. That was my justification as to what to purchase. I wanted a newer car vs a good deal on a first year production car. There are pluses and minuses to both models. So far after having an 2014 SE for 7 months I would buy the same car again today. Good luck on your choice. -
Stuff doesn't fall off my glove box shelf anymore! :)

Good idea. I want a 3D printer when the price comes down enough to be a standard item at home. -
About to buy a NEW 2013 C-Max Hybrid today
scottwood2 replied to KashmirSwimsuit's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I also agree with others. The dealer can call it what they want but it is a low mileage used car, not new. I paid $21K for a new 2014 SE last Sept. I could have purchased an SEL for about $2k more (Base SEL). -

Side Mirrors Questions
scottwood2 replied to Tree63's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
The heated mirrors are available on the SE. I have them as they came as part of the winter package. You also get lights on the bottom of the mirrors to light up the ground as you get in. The heated mirrors and heated seats are nice to have here in Michigan. I too thought the symbol on the mirror would light up when on but they do not light up as others have said. -
Looked last night. Like others have said the right side does not have very much there. No engine related pages for sure. Maybe it is a 2015 model year thing?
-
It is a new item that people don't know what to expect over time. Everything has a life. To me it is the same as a transmission, engine etc. They all have a life and they can cost thousands to repair/replace. Transmissions can be over $7000 now. The battery is cheap compared to that. It is not an issue to me but the perception is a real issue to buyers and that can affect the resale value.

Problems like these are always a problem. If they can not reproduce it in the shop then they can't tell what is causing the noise. It could be many things. On the plus side noises like this will get worse over time but seldom ever leave you stranded. I understand your concern and just wanting to have it fixed but unless they know what is the bad part they are just taking a shot in the dark as to how to fix it. I know it is hard to have a newer car and have issues like these that they can't take care of. I do agree with you but I also understand where the dealer is coming from. Kind of the same thing when it comes to saying you will not have an issue again for any problem. No one can guarantee that your car will not have a problem again. The best made car in the world can not say this. Things happen and cars have problems. Again I understand what you are saying and don't want to have problems but at least your dealer is honest to tell you it could happen again. I hope this helps.

I would love to have the dual displays like this. I will have to look again at my right side options. I did not think there was an option for this. Maybe it is part of the 203A package. I have the 202A. Thx

Consumer Reports C-max review and reliability data
scottwood2 replied to djc's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Good to hear that this car is getting some good press. It is a great design. -
Thx, So the right display has more items that can be displayed compared to your 2013? Just want to be sure that there is not something that I am missing. I have the 202A package which has the 8" MFT. Maybe there is still something added for the right display on the 203A? I don't remember there being any changes that I saw but there could be.
-
Has the right display changed on the 2015 model? I think you are talking about the right display on the dashboard? I wish I could show more on mine. It is either what is on the MFT system already or the leaf display. I would love to have the programming options from the left side.

That is very low hours for a bulb. I think there is a booklet that came with the car that lists the warranty items. Could call your dealer to find out too. Maybe the dealer will change it out even if it is not covered. Can't hurt to ask. Let us know what you end up doing. Now I want to look for that video too. Good info to know. Thx

I have not heard that noise. It does sound like you have a bearing going bad.

Head scratching questions ref C-Max Hybrid

I did not realize that there were that many differences between the two models. Good to know. Thx
