  1. Autonomous Electric Cars Drive CES 2016 Hype https://www.environmentalleader.com/2016/01/05/autonomous-electric-cars-drive-ces-2016-hype/
  2. Maybe this will give a little boost to Ford and their electric line up. Sounds like there is a lot of product getting ready to hit the market in the near future for many auto companies. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ces-2016-ford-promises-launch-13-electric-vehicles-by-2020-plus-drone-vehicle-technology-1536161
  3. The one thing I don't get is the fact that you have to plug in your phone to use this system. Just seems like a pain to use. I really like being able to keep my phone in my pocket and use it that way. I think at some point these will work that way too. At least that is my understanding of how it works.
  4. Thx for the info and pic. What are they using for sealant on this? Is it a gasket? I would guess it is sealant.
  5. My understanding is that the C-Max in North America has not received the update. Not sure why not. The European model did change for this year. My understanding is also that the European model is not a hybrid. Hope that helps
  6. HI and Welcome. Sorry, not much help here in giving you ideas for towing. Not sure how it is set up but not using the C-Max for a number of days without use should not be a problem. I have left mine for well over a week with no start issues. Sounds like maybe something with your setup drains the battery while it is towed? Congrats. You will love the car. I put an extra 5K miles on it this year because I look for reasons to drive it. :)
  7. Sorry to hear about the issue. One thing to keep in mind is that the system shuts down at some voltage. Once the voltage drops to this level the system shuts down so that the battery does not go completely dead. It is still a problem but a jump pack can easily get it going again. I had this issue once. It was shut down completely like you said but just sitting for a while was enough to make the battery come alive again and it started right up. The good thing here is that it looks like the problem is there and can be found. The intermittent issues are the ones that are hard to fix. Good luck. Let us know what the fix is.
  8. I try to start out with no hvac. Then try to gently use the throttle to keep it in electric mode and run the battery down. Then ICE will start and I try to keep my acceleration down (keep RPM about 2K). This give ICE some time to warm up and slowly charge the battery back up. This takes about a mile. Then I try to run the battery out again and back to ICE. A few cycles of this and my temp starts to move into the normal range. On the 3rd time of doing this I then turn on the heat. This is what I do at 5:30 am. Other times of the day is harder to do. You learn tricks as you go and learn what the car wants to do in the warm up cycle.
  9. The heater, or should I say limiting the use of the heater will help. Yes cold weather drops the FE. The electric seat heaters help. I can use these until the car gets warmed up some. Then I turn on the cabin heater. Short trips make it harder to get MPG up. A search will find lots of information on this topic. Try this link as a starting point. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3183-suggested-tips-for-cold-weather-driving/?hl=%2Bcold+%2Bweather+%2Btips
  10. Is this compared to the gen 1 Volt? I thought the Malibu was using the gen 2 Volt drive train? EDIT Missed the link in the post. This answered my question. Sorry about that.
  11. I hope they take care of the issues for you. It is a great fun car to own. Fingers crossed.
  12. Would that not be part of the dealers 150,000 point check that they always seem to say they do for their certified cars? Just kidding on the number but I always hear about this "Certified" selling point and then I hear people say that something was not checked. What was checked was the box next to the item on the list. I do think dealers want to do the right thing but they want profits too and take shortcuts. I once turned down taking delivery of a car due to paint imperfections. Refused the car and pick another one. When I asked about having a room with good lighting to review the car I was told that they only make $7 on the sale of the car so they could not afford it. I kept looking for her living under some bridge as with that little profit she could not afford a house but I never saw her there. ;) I have had my share of issues with dealerships but I believe that being nice really helps fix issues. Getting mad never seems to fix issues at least for what I have seen.
  13. If you want to increase the MPG there are a lot of driving tips on this site to do that. Some people like that and others just want to drive the car. It is up to you but as others have said there are many many posts here on technique for increasing MPG if you want to go that route. Took me months to learn what and what not to do to get better MPG. Mainly it is city driving techniques. I find Eco-cruise on the highway fine for most of the time.
  14. Thx for the post. That is a great deal. I purchased the Walmart one some weeks ago. I wonder if this one through Advanced is OK to do too? Is this rebate through Quaker State or Advanced Auto?
  15. Agree, mine seems to come on right at 10K miles. At least for the two times so far (20K on vehicle).
  16. It would be interesting to see sales vs fuel prices.
  17. I did not even know about this service. Not something I would use but I don't remember anyone talking about it when I bought the car. Maybe because it is a SE? I like using my phone and updating that every few years. Thx for teaching me something new today. :)
  18. One thing that is different now is the cost of the batteries. The cost has come down faster than expected. I still wonder how well this will catch on for pickups. I think it might take $4 a gallon gas again for people to bite on this idea. Gas here is selling for just over $1.50 a gallon now. I never thought I would see this price again.
  19. I am not sure what the question is here? Can you give us more details? I don't know of any thing being a limited time thing except the free satellite radio. Thx
  20. Looks like Ford is going to try Hybrid Pickups on their own. Can Ford sell what GM could not? http://www.tfltruck.com/2015/12/ford-vs-toyota-race-hybrid-pickups/
  21. I would not have it done. I have ran many cars way passed 100K miles with no issues. In general I don't normally use synthetic oil either and never had an issue. 5K miles for normal oil changes. The C-max is different. Synthetic is needed due to the duty cycle but with the engine on less than half the time. 10K oil changes should keep it pretty clean already.
  22. Ok, here is my pic of over 600 miles. The recent cold weather and 10 inches + of snow did not help either. Maybe next summer I can do a 700 miles +. :happy feet:
